Staying in a three-storey French Provincial-style tower appeals like nothing else.its the best lux bolthole with whitewashed, chandelier-lit dining room, a wrought iron spiral staircase climbing to a lounge where bookshelves trace the curved walls. Up on the apex level there is a 360-degree views of the estate and surrounding plains. Even though there isn’t a cellar door, one is surrounded by wineries. The femme was suitably surprised at her invitation to treat.

We stayed with a group of friends and all our children in the Pickers Cottage for a long weekend, and I can’t speak highly enough of the accommodation and the fabulous things we did around Rutherglen!
The cottage was just divine and everything was thought of. Each bedroom had its own ensuite and the central living/dining area was just perfect - plenty of space for everyone!
The kitchen was extremely well stocked and we absolutely loved sitting outside as a big group with a huge area for the kids to kick the footy and explore the surrounding area.
Highly suggested places to visit are St Leonards winery (beautiful wine and delicious food in a relaxed outdoor setting) and All Saints winery where we attended Dinner in the Vines where we met and chatted to the owners, vineyard manager and winemaker - amazing! It was a brilliant night and one we’ll be back for again!

We spent a weekend with four other families at Mt Ophir's Picker's Cottage. The accommodation was just perfect and everyone in our group loved it. I was surprised (and thrilled) that every bedroom had its own ensuite. The tiniest details had been thought of and it was so well set up. The fridge was generously stocked, the complimentary wine was extremely enjoyable, the cottage was extremely clean, relaxed and comfortable.

It was lovely to see all our city kids exploring the property - catching yabbies in the dam, climbing trees, kicking the footy until dark and pretending to fossick for gold. There was no need for screens.

The town of Rutherglen has everything you need (do try the bakery, Parker Pies, the lolly shop and Thousand Pound wine bar is a must for the adults.)

We spent a lovely afternoon at St Leonard's Vineyard (fab lunch and wines) and had a brilliant evening at 'Dinner in the Vines' at All Saints Estate Winery.

It was a super special weekend. Thanks Mount Ophir!

Last weekend our group of school/footy club families (9 adults and 8 kids) stayed at The Pickers Cottage at Mt Ophir Estate. The property is absolutely amazing - a 100+ year old winery with an incredible main historical building with an incredible tower which is decked out luxuriously for premium stays.

The cottage we stayed in sleeps 20+ - we all had our own rooms which were impeccably clean and well appointed featuring their own ensures. The kids all stayed in comfort in a big room with their own beds and loved it!!

The kitchen was well appointed with special touches along the way including local wine and goodies in the fridge when we arrived.

The property is interesting enough to explore over the weekend but also close to great wineries which we explored - along with a visit to a hip wine bar called 1000 Pound which the adults enjoyed a night out to. The owners even helped us organise a baby sitter.

Ideal for groups and a totally unique weekend away! Loved it!
