Where do I begin?
I booked and paid for this room several months in advance, taking a chance on an "improving" property because it had a great arrangement: a two-bedroom suite. I thought this suite would be the perfect solution for my early-sleeper colleague and me—a night owl. However, the room was occupied when he tried to check in—oops. The desk clerk (who really did his best under the circumstances) said that someone had extended their reservation... okay, but I reserved and prepaid for that room, so the correct answer to the request to extend SHOULD have been: "Sorry, it's not available." Fail one.
After we agreed to a downgrade (and price adjustment) to a double queen room, my colleague was then sent out a second time, only to discover the room was filthy (see photos). Fail two. He found the third room clean, fortunately, and this is when I arrived at the hotel. I walked through the hotel and found several safety issues, including blocked fire exits, broken fire doors, and blocked sidewalks, along with dirt: dirty floors, dirty walls, dirty stairwells... Fail three.
I recognize that the new management is trying to improve this property, but they still have a long way to go. And for the snafu of giving our room away, I expected the manager to contact me and at least offer an apology, but no one ever contacted us, nor asked us how our stay was. Fail four.
The sole bright spot in the stay was the breakfast, which offered hot items, including biscuits and gravy.
