We had a wonderful visit to New York City and The Royalton Park Avenue was the cherry on top! The hotel is just a short distance from the magnificent Time Square and many other attractions (ex. Empire State Building, Flatiron building, Union Square). The Royalton is situated on the corner of 29th and Park Avenue (great location), giving us many options. We literally would walk outside the hotel and just start walking because there were so many things to explore. The Royalton is fashionable, metropolitan and hip. It is tastefully refurbished and has a touch of old-world charm and upbeat modernism. I was happy that the front desk staffer asked it we wanted to upgrade to get a balcony because it was such a nice view. We received an 11th floor room (clean room) with a partial view of the Empire State Building. We could see the top of it as it was changing colors to reflect Valentine's Day. We loved the modern bathroom that had a separate tub and shower. We also loved the rooftop pool. We didn't get in the pool but the view was really, really nice. It was very cold, as it was February. We could see steam coming from the pool, which created such a picturesque scene. Hotel guests were in the pool enjoying themselves and the awesome view. The rooftop bar/lounge (next to the pool, but inside) is where hipsters and sophisticates gather for hot music, nice cocktails and a laid-back, retro lounge atmosphere. The Bartenders and hosts were nice, accommodating and professional. I came back to the bar for a second night but couldn't remember the name of the cocktail I had the night before because the bartender (I believe he was from California) designed a special cocktail for me. He remembered it and remade it for me!
One of the best parts of the Royalton Park Avenue was a hotel staffer named "Juan" . He was the nicest, most personable hotel staffer we have met in the United States. And we travel a lot (domestically and internationally). There is only one other hotel staffer who had his great disposition and he was in London at another 5 start hotel. Juan, you made our trip to NYC memorable! You're phenomenal! Keep doing what you do. Your top-notch personality and disposition makes all the difference!
We recommend staying that the Royalton Park Avenue. We will return. Thank you to all that accommodated us during our visit.
Stayed 5 nights in feb. Hotel is central for most of the iconic sights. Hotel is good looking inside and out. Check in was only ok as the gent did not seem Interested. No mention of what sights etc were around the hotel or explantion of what the hotel offered in facilities or the destination tax. Every other member of staff was excellent over our stay. Special mention for the concierge gentleman who was really helpful and the gent who was on the front door. Rooms were large and spotlessly kept clean by the maid. We arrived sat night and were kept awake by the pool bar noise. It was OK every other night as it was not open so late. Many bars and restaurants close by. Also excellent coffee house over the road. A really good hotel for a break in new york and we would defintley stay again. Would have gave it 5 stars if the check in was better.
I stayed at the Royalton Park Avenue for a weekend break in January 2020. NYC has so many choices and the roof top pool, and central location got my attention when I was booking. I was not disappointed- this hotel is amazing!
An Uber from LaGuardia cost 50$ with all taxes. The check-in was quick and friendly in the newly renovated lobby. I booked a deluxe king which was very spacious and provided a nice seating area and large bathroom. The room was impressive but next time I will upgrade further and get a view of Park Avenue for people watching. The gem of this hotel is really the roof top pool. Open year round you can swim indoors to out. Imagine a snowy January evening swimming in the heated pool with the snow falling and an incredible view of the Empire State Building all lit up. This was the number one highlight of my trip!!
The Royalton on Park is in a great location in midtown Manhattan. Close to the subway that will take you anywhere you want to go. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby. I loved Bagel and Schmear a little unassuming bagel shop a few minutes walk away - they make an incredible and affordable breakfast.
I will be back!
The good- great rooftop pool which is heated for winter swimming, very large rooms and bathrooms (stayed in deluxe king), and excellent location. Friendly staff that was very accommodating, free champagne provided on Friday evening in lobby.
Caveat- the hotel is under renovation and the current lobby is less than impressive. However, we had no issues with hot water during our stay or the elevator (stay was right after Christmas). There was a weed smell in the hallway, though not our room. Management should do more to address this..
We stopped here in a suite for 5 days in December. We picked the hotel for location and the reviews online. The hotel is currently getting ready for a makeover, so the normal reception is closed, an ad hoc one is available around the corner from the boarded up main entrance. Check in was pretty smooth, and a glass of prosecco was offered whilst we waited for our bags to be taken to our rooms. We decided not to wait around and instead explored NYC. We were told our bags would be taken to our rooms, 5 hours later they were still in the luggage hold, not an issue though. Most notable on the entrance to our floor (fourteenth) was the heavy smell of cannabis. You sign forms re smoking on check in, these are blatantly ignored. We had our teenage children with us, and they complained that their room smelled pretty strong of weed, which it did, I think either room 16 or 17 was on it everyday and it went ignored by staff. There was also a strong smell of cigarettes in this no smoking hotel. The day we planned to use the pool, access was denied due to a private function which was a bit of a downer. We knew there was a daily charge for services of $50 but if you don't read the terms, it might take you by surprise as you check out (we saw a few annoyed British guests). I would mark the hotel a 4 if it wasn't for the maintenance and cannabis. Great location though, and Churchills around the corner does a great cheeseburger and fries for $12.
