At first, I booked only two days at Le Bout du Monde, because I was supposed to go at Kampot after. But, when I discovered the life on this place, I booked two more days !!
This hôtel is just amazing : a little cambodian paradise : lovely, peacefull, green... It was the perfect place to take care of me, get relax and to just enjoy the life.
The first day, I had a beautiful walk on the National Park whish is just at the door of the hôtel : so perfect ! And at afternoom I have visited the famous crab market, 10min walk from the hôtel.
The second day I went to Koh Tonsay (rabbit Island) for the day (amazing). The girl of the reception booked it for me, and a van came to pick up me at the hotel's parking. She was realy nice : she made some calls for me when I needed informations.
And during my two last days, I just enjoyed the life in the hôtel : swimming in the natural pool, Reading (there are a little share library), watching birds, butterflies and monkeys in the garden, I get a good massage in my room, and I spend so much time to watch the vue in the hamac.
My room was in a kmerr style, so nice, and very clean, even if it's almost un the jungle. The girls come each day to clean during my breakfast (gorgeous : crêpes, eggs, fruits).
Each evening, I ate in the hotel's restaurant. The food is homemade and it was just amazing !!! I loved so much breton crêpes !!!!!
The team was lovely and smiling and I spent a good time to talk with the owner who built this place with his wife.
I traveled in some différents part in the World, but it's the first time that I feel like in my home somewhere... And I was sad to have to leave.
But, for shure, I will be back !!!!
Thanks you for everything Le Bout du Monde's team, you made my staying a dream.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The hotel has a beautiful, rustic eco-resort vibe. It is only a short (albeit uphill) walk from the crab market of Kep but feels like it is worlds away from everything. I truly did not want to leave. I rarely spend extra time at a hotel or eat in resort restaurants, but the property was so lovely that I wanted to spend every second I could here. I ate one of the traditional Khmer dishes at their restaurant. It was delicious. From check in (when they greet you with complimentary fresh juice!), all hotel staff were friendly and courteous. They even let me pet their adorable pup, who was very well behaved, quietly sitting in the lobby. (She was very polite and did not approach until I called her over, so if you are not a dog fan, fear not.)
The property consists of several traditional Khmer houses tucked into the trees. The houses are quite rustic with open rafter ceilings (see photo), open windows, and mosquito nets, but were very clean with surprisingly few bugs. The bed was comfy and all sheets and towels appeared very clean. My favorite part of my room was the large open deck with its lush garden view (plus ocean in the distance). Although I am usually one to check out early and go exploring, I loved the view and calming atmosphere so much that I spent the whole morning relaxing in the hammock. The complimentary breakfast was also good and quite plentiful (juice/coffee/tea, fresh local fruit, small baguette, choice of sweet or savory crepe, and choice of egg/omelet).
The only negatives I can think of are (1) that the hotel would not be ideal for someone who has mobility issues. The property is connected by a sometimes uneven path, and you have to walk upstairs to access the common restaurant/lobby area and most of the rooms. And (2) some people may not be into the rustic vibe and may opt to stay somewhere more built up (no mosquito net, closed walls/ceiling; I also had a small frog that lived near my room and would occasionally pop into the shower through the pipes. The hotel staff warned me in advance and I didn’t mind, but others might be bothered by it.)
Overall, I loved my stay here. It is one of my favorite and most memorable hotels I have stayed at during my travels. I would definitely stay again if I ever return to the Kep area.
Lovely spot with a terrific location, just five minutes to kep center by bicycle, but surrounded by lush vegetation and with nice views over the ocean. Especially beautiful at sunset from the very atmospheric dining room/bar. Extremely friendly and helpful staff and owner. Lovely bungalow type accommodations, spotlessly clean and the nicest traditional and colonial furniture. The natural pool was a great place to come back to after a day running around and you’re right outside the national park, with a decent mountain bike loop, good hiking and lots of monkeys. The room rates are great value for what you get here. A true gem.
A beautiful oasis of peace and calm. It was a joy to sit on the balcony of my room just taking in the view and enjoying the peace and quiet. Jean Luc and his staff took good care of me. The food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent. If you want to get away from it all this is the place for you. The only caveat is that it is a reasonable walk from the main road - just under 10 minutes but it shouldnt pose a problem to most people
If you are looking for a swish place with all the mod cons and everything perfect, this is not for you. This is an eco lodge not a resort. There are monkeyd swinging in the back of the lodge which you can see from your outdoor shower which was awesome. The views and the outdoor balcony from our king villa suite was great when it rained for two days straight. It is a rustic place with charm. The pool is clean and gardens lovely but I was disappointed with the outdoor areas lazy boy chairs which were in disrepair that I would not sit in. It is an experience that is worth doing if you love nature and the outdoors. Staff were lovely and helpful.
