I'll start with the positive. The view was nice.
We stayed in February for the carnival. On arrival, the owner met us about 200m down the road. We were on foot, carrying our luggage. Did she offer us a lift? No way, she drove off and told us to follow her on foot, so we fairly sprinted down the road to keep up, lugging our bags behind us.
Once through the door, she then spent 10 minutes haranguing us, saying that as we were so young (two female friends, both young professionals, aged 32 & 33) she hoped we weren't going to get drunk/be disruptive/make any noise/cause any damage. Not even "hi, welcome to Bosa", just "behave or else". Hardly the warmest welcome.
The room was freezing, as was the whole building. The owner clearly knew the heating wasn't working but still insisted on wasting our time with a 10 minute pantomime show of trying to get the heating unit in our room working, all the time complaining that the last clients must have broken it, that people were so disrespectful, that guests were continually breaking things and that she hoped we would be better behaved. She did occasionally break off her monologue to answer her mobile phone and carry on a conversation whilst completely ignoring us meaning her showing us our room took 20 minutes in total and we had friends waiting for us outside in the cold.
Result? A room so cold we went to bed fully clothed (including gloves) and still shivered all night, The sheets were unbearably damp and our "double bed" had two single mattresses on it so we kept falling down the middle. The small sachet of shower gel was the cheapest I've ever seen and smelt of toilet cleaner and the whole property smelt a little odd.
Breakfast was freezing as there was no heating in the whole house and presided over by the owner complaining that the other guests hadn't come down for breakfast, that she was sure they were still drunk (!?!) and that if they got there a minute after the 9:45am cut off time she wouldn't feed them. It was so cold, I had to put my tiny pot of nutella on the one small electric heater to thaw it enough to spread it on the cellophane-wrapped croissant with an expiry date sometime next year. Only one each of course, you don't get second helpings. When asked for a second (paper) napkin, the owners curt reply was "I already gave you one".
The price (60€ per double room) was the same as the lovely Costa Fiorita down the road... the overall quality so, so much worse.
The owner actually called us the next afternoon saying that other guests had stolen a couple of decorative masks from the property. That sort of behavior is never justifiable but I couldn't help thinking of the saying "garbage in, garbage out"... try treating your guests with some respect, be helpful and (dare I say it) friendly. Give them a room that's not so cold they can see their own breath and you know what? Maybe they will show you the same courtesy in return.
In short, the rudest owner and most uncomfortable stay I think I've ever had. I'm English but have lived in Sardinia for 3 years... if any foreign visitors are foolish enough to stay there, PLEASE don't make the mistake of thinking this sort of dreadful service is typical of the island!
B&B Belvedere is really a perfect place to stax in Bosa, if you are not expecting the sercive of a hotel. The rooms with bathroom/shower and small balkony deliver a view over the rooftops of Bosa. You will wake up with seagulls flying around in front of your window, lazy cats relaxing on the alley below and the sun shining over Bosa. It's a panorama view you always dreamed of ... and through the close alleys and steps you go down to the Piazza, the shopping alley and the river Temo within 5 minutes. If you have a car you park it on the road to the castello above.
About the service (thats often critizised in comments): the owner Anna Maria is very friendly, but its true that breakfast is simple. Toast from the supermarket, little boxes of jam, honey and Nutella, butter, juice and coffee ... so what? It's a private room with breakfast, no 4-5 star residence. And if you want to be alone take a dark room in a club hotel, where nobody offends your wish of isolation (this to those who critizesed to have breakfast together ... ridicolous... thats a benefit if you interested in people). And even a hotel will not wait endlessly till you are in the mood to have breakfast.
So overall, its a really nice place with fantastic view and location, friendly host and simple breakfast. A perfect place to stay for not so saturated people (most are younger between 20 and 35, I guess) with interest in other people (or at least no autistic tendencies). You will enjoy!
The room was adequate, the views were lovely but the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner left much to be desired. I would say she is in this business only for the income it provides as I certainly would never in a million years serve up the breakfast she provided for us - stale white bread, butter and jam, small supermarket bought cakes (one each), oranges (not quite one each) and cornflakes in the packet with a spoon to dish them out BUT no bowl, milk or spoon to eat them with. When we asked for a bowl she relunctanly went to the locked cabinet and took out a small cup. Without milk or spoon we gave up on the cornflakes. We didn't try to turn on our TV but the TV in our friends' bedroom didn't work, both rooms ran out of toilet paper, there was no soap provided and the towels were very odd. Thank goodness we didn't visit in the heat of summer as we would have been required to pay 10 euros for the airconditioning and if we had wanted to use the kitchen or the dining room (even for uncooked food), we would have needed to have paid another 10 euros. There is no lounge or place in the B&B to relax so it is not condusive to travelling with friends. It is the most unwelcoming and unfriendly B&B I have ever been to - and I have stayed in many over the years.
+ rooms offered panoramic view over the old city of Bosa and Bosa Marina.
- Rooms were small, noisy and not very clean.
- Breakfast was very poor. The tea seemed out of date, and bread was dry.
- Staff was not very friendly.
- Price of the room was to high for what we got offered.
If you thing, your are on a romantic holiday forget it. If you wake up after 9:30 no breakfast. If you are early bird, you will get a same dame same white toast bread from local supermarket, same cheap ham and you kids will get a small Nutela box.
You will sit at one table with bunch of other strangers in very uncomfortable environment in someones kitchen.
You will get any trash-out, toilet paper or help after 10:00 am even the owner is in the house. Since you have violated the 10:00 am room escape order, you are on your own.
Room that we have ordered was for three persons. We ended up in a tiny room with bunk bed ruining the otherwise nice room.
