On Tuesday August 20th, 2019, after driving the Cabot Trail my wife and I stayed at our booked destination, the Maritime Inn situated at 717 Reeves Street in Port Hawkesbury NS.
For checking in, we were welcomed by the front desk staff. Our double room was on the ground floor and the entrance was from the back of the hotel. The room was not fancy, was a bit dated and dark but seemed clean and adequate in size. It had an exterior door to the parking lot and one inside to get to the main corridor. The two double beds were clean and comfortable.
That afternoon, the back-parking lot was full of heavy equipment and trucks from the Nova Scotia Power Company, so we could not park our vehicle in front of our hotel room. The washroom, nothing fancy, was just OK. There is no elevator in this hotel. The indoor pool and hot tub area were busy with children that afternoon, so we did not get the chance to try them.
That evening we did enjoy diner at the Inn’s Restaurant Millers Seafood & Chophouse which we found to be delicious. During the night, the air conditioning system was a bit noisy but did handle the entire room. During the night, on many occasions the sealing fire alarm mechanism was buzzing and interrupted our sleep. Next morning, there was no continental breakfast included with our reservation, not even coffee. We found that our room, for a Tuesday, was overpriced at $207.00. Therefore, it would be hard to recommend this place to family and friends.
Based on the area, the views, quality, service, price and noise factors, we would rate our stay at the Maritime Inn Port Hawkesbury as 3 stars.
we really enjoyed our stay, the staff was very friendly and easy to talk to, we really enjoyed the pool, it was so nice and warm, very clean room, beds were really comfortable and would definitely stay there again ...
We stayed here for our last night in Cape Breton at the end of our Cabot Trail trip. The people at this location are amazing. Check in and out was a breeze with some good conversation. Kids loved that there was a pool. Close the bridge to the mainland and close to shopping. Room was clean and spacious.
Love the Maritime Inn. The service is friendly , the rooms are clean and beds are comfy. It’s very convenient and lovely to Miller’s in the building and the pool is a nice option! Thanks again, We’ll be back!
We spent a weekend here for a dance competition, the rooms are clean and fairly modern, the beds comfortable, the pillows could be better but that’s very subjective. The pool is nice, my daughter enjoyed being in there with other dancers before the comp. but there is no slide or anything for kids to play with that I could see. The staff were mostly very friendly. And it helped that the restaurant in the hotel was very good (but incredibly slow) so convenience all around.
