If you are looking for a good location to ski or hike from, then look no further. We booked an early ski package with half board and 42m² life style suite. But let's see what you can expect when staying with the family Stock. It's a highly rated family run Hotel with more than 50 years of experience serving many return guests, with high quality rooms and modern furnishings (mixture of glass and wood style), walk-in rain shower, multiple flat screen cable TV's. All included with half board is a full breakfast buffet, 7 course gourmet chef dinner with cheese selection, (drinks extra) and from 1pm - 5pm afternoon warm and cold buffet including tea and coffee. Free transfer to the ski lifts, free parking, large wellness area with an indoor pool, outdoor Jacuzzi and sauna area. Of course, this all comes at a price and is not aimed at backpack tourists.
The family Stock run a well coordinated hotel with emphasis on fine dining and high standard, comfortable, quiet rooms in order to have happy customers.

They know about hospitality! The rooms are more than large enough. What's even better is the wellness. The swimming pool and the outdoor jacuzzi is perfect after a skiing day in September. Also the staff is nice and polite. If there is some time they have great stories about the area and the village.

The Bergfried is an absolute must if you are visiting the Zillertal Area. I have been coming back to this same spot for the past three years and it has become my yearly vacation destination.
It is such a beautiful hotel that will seriously exceed your expectations. A true family run operation, everyone at the hotel will make you feel right at home with anything you need at your fingertips.
The food menu is the best I have ever had, with so many options at each meal I always have a debate with myself on what to choose! Everything is fresh, from the juices they press every morning to the amazing meats and cheese sourced local right in the Apls. The staff is more than willing to advise and help with any food needs and they have an expert Sommelier that can suggest the perfect wine to pair with you meal. And don't miss the daily afternoon lunch! Not complete of course with out the home-made apple strudel.
The hotel spa is perfectly laid out. One of the more unique and intimate spa's you will see. With multiple rooms so there is something for everyone. There is also a full gym on the grounds for the health nuts and a pool and outdoor hot tub with a picture perfect alpine valley view.
The hotel rooms are spacious and are the perfect mix of traditional Austrian luxury with modern amenities like the glass spa showers.
For me it comes down to the love and care from the family that goes into making every guest happy. I really believe that is what puts this hotel above all others. You will get to know all the faces that make this place the gem that it is. It is a true authentic Austrian experience. My year will never be complete now with out staying with the Stock family!

One of the two leading Hotels in the valley, the other being Tuxerhof. Bergfried is in the nicest part of the village and away from the main road. Over the last two years, they have enlarged their rooms and reduced the number accordingly. We stayed in a family apartment (living room, two bedrooms, bath) designed in a modern yet cosy alpine style.
The two dining rooms are different but each one is really nice. The larger one has the children's playroom attached which is very practical. There is a sizeable but not vast spa area which very well done and decorated. Same goes for the pool.

We found the food excellent and it includes breakfast, an afternoon choice of soups, salads, breads, cheeses & cakes plus drinks. Nothing else needed.
The hotel is 150 m away from the regular ski bus stop but it operates a shuttle service to the glacier and the Zillertal 3000 ski area door-to-door several times. It only takes 3-4 minutes.

Three walking minutes away from the hotel is the Bergfried Alm, a picturesque old house and stable now operated by the hotel as an alternative dining and afternoon venue, also for non-residents. There are also alpine motto parties and performances at times.

We found the Bergfried a beautiful hotel, well appointed everywhere. It has just the right size, being large enough to be professionally run, yet small enough to make guests feel at home. We will come again.
