Hotel was very comfortable with extremely helpful staff. We had a 3rd floor romm with a good view of the lake. The doors on to the terrace folded right back to fully open up the room.
The breakfast buffet was extensive and well stocked. The scambled eggs and bacon (self service) were excellent. Car parking was in an underground car park around 2-300 metres from the hotel. However the hotel does have 2 reserved bays for short stays such as loading or unloading baggage. The ferry on the lake is almost directly opposite the hotel.
I came here with my daughter and grandson on a short holiday. When we booked this was one of the hotel hotels that still had availability. The hotel itself is very nice, as are the rooms. We had a family room in the attic which was very spacious and had a lovely bathroom. The breakfast room was also lovely and the staff went out of our way to chat while they were serving. Everything served at breakfast was home-made and delicious. The reception staff (especially the younger lady) were not particularly friendly and every question seemed like it was a pain to answer. She never greeted us when we walked into the reception and just ignored us unless we had a direct question. What we found most bothersome about the hotel, though, was the lack of aircon and the excessive heat in the room. We had one fan - and then had to ask for another. One for the tiny room where my grandson slept and the other for the big room. Despite the fan, the heat and humidity were unbearable. There was a heatwave all over Europe but considering that this is a popular tourist spot where I understand it gets very hot in the summer, I would expect some better temperature control in the rooms.
The hotel is lovely and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and cosily furnished. The breakfast buffet is wonderful with a lovely selection of breads, muesli, fruit, meats, fish, juices and the breakfast staff were extremely helpful and friendly and really made us feel at home. There were 3 of us and so we were given a family room in the attic. I don't think that I have EVER felt so hot in my life (and I have travelled all over the world). We spent five nights and I don't think I actually slept through even one night due to the heat and the intense humidity. Five days away that were supposed to be a break to relax and I returned home even more exhausted than before. This is a holiday resort where it gets extremely hot and humid in the summer and we were incredulous that there was no air conditioning at all - especially under the roof. The reception staff were not particularly friendly, nor did they care that we had the most awful nights.Their only response was that is a 'spa hotel' and that people would complain if there was air-conditioning. This was strange considering that they apologised to everyone as they checked out - who obviously complained as we did. Their only suggestion on our first night was to open the roof window to let the air in. Perfect for also letting in the really nasty mosquitoes which bit us all night long and a bat which had problems finding its way out again! This is supposed to be a four star hotel. The least they could have considering their location and summer temperatures is air-con. My son had a tiny room with a fan and even that was boiling. The fan we had for the huge room might as well not even have been there. Had there been air-conditioning to make our stay comfortable, I would have given this hotel 4 points. Definitely over-priced considering the discomfort every night. I would only stay there again if there was air-conditioning.
Superb position by the marina on Lake Constance (Bodensee). The hotel is a modern designer/boutique hotel with open plan bedrooms. I don't know if its because I am getting old or, a traditionalist, but I am not a fan of this layout. Saying that, it is very clean & comfortable & has a fridge & coffee machine in the room, which is handy. My single room was at the back of the hotel with no lake view. Don't these people know that singles like a lake view! Lift to the 3rd floor & beyond to the spa facilities. The parking is in a public underground car park opposite Montfort Castle, about 400m away. Short term only in front of the hotel. Train station approx. 800m away & serves all areas. The village has a good selection of shops, banks, chemist, restaurant & an Edeka supermarket opposite the station. A larger selection available in Lindau, Friedrichshafen Hafen or Konstanz a little further away. A nice day out is the Konstanz/Friedrichshafen catermeran which takes an hour.
Staff very welcoming upon arrival. Room was a good size, clean and with all facilities. The Bodensee travel card was included and saved us money on the buses and trains in the area.
Breakfast was very good, although the lack of a toaster was surprising.
Only negative was that we didn't have any view of the lake as we were at the back of the hotel.
