Stayed in the Garden View Chalet (AC) for 3 nights and it was perfect !

Room was clean, bed was comfy (mosquito net included too!), towels provided were fresh, toilet had hot water, the balcony has table & chairs to chill, beach was just seconds away from your room, hammock & beach chairs available for use, breakfast was enough to start your day, soft drinks & books available 24/7 and the list goes on.

Plus, Richard & Alice were friendly and beyond helpful. Did not hesitate to assist with my enquiries & to provide recommendations. Thank you for the hospitality !

Highly recommended and would definitely be back if I ever visited Tioman again.

Tekek itself is not a very charming place, but entering Swiss Cottage is like comming to an oasis. The staff is frendly, helpful and make you feel at home. One night they arranged dinner in the garden. Soooo cosy:-) This is a place to relax. We stayed in a terrace room and could hear our neighbour very well, but by elleven the whole place was quiet. The beach there is nice but not the best place if you want to go snorkelling. Great value for your money!

The only reason not to stay here is if you don't like cats. The place takes care of 5-6 of them.

We had a stay of 5 nights on Tioman Island to do our PADI Open Water course. As the dive center is located directly in the resort we decided to book there. It was a great experience since the chalet we had was directly in front of the sea. The reception is friendly, the room is clean and a mosquito net for around the bed is provided which is very useful. Furthermore, they serve breakfast and good lunch at the reception which is kinda a restaurant at the same time.

We loved our stay at Swiss Cottage and it was hard to leave! Unfortunately the Seaview chalet and bungalows were fully booked when we were there, but the terraced room was very good and still had a lovely outlook to the sea and garden. There are so many positives about this place. Stella and Richard are amazing - super friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Their staff were also friendly and this created a relaxed and happy atmosphere. The breakfast area is a good 'chill out' place and has a great vibe so it was easy to meet others. The garden and beach areas were all kept really clean and tidy, and the reef along the beach was good for snorkelling, although there was quite a bit of dead coral and lots of sea urchins. We did a half day snorkelling trip which was excellent - even saw a large reef shark. We were on Tioman towards the end of Ramadan, so there was a limited choice of restaurants but the food was always good. We would recommend the vege burger and the coconut cream chicken curry at Cabana! As others have mentioned, the sandflies and mosquitoes were annoying (but insect repellant works wonders), the mosquito net in the room was too small for the bed and the aircon seemed to have a mind of its own at times, but these were all small things and didn't affect our experience at all. We thought Swiss Cottage was the best place on the island and would highly recommend it for people looking for a relaxing vacation. Stella organised for a taxi to take us from Mersing to Singapore, and our driver, Raja was fantastic - he was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful that the ride back to Singapore went really quickly and it was worth the money paid for a trouble free and entertaining trip to Changi airport. Wonderful place!

I am a retired geologist who has stayed in many budget beach places around the world in the last 50 years and I put the Swiss Cottage in my top 20%. First off, my emails were answered quickly and were very helpful. Stella and Rich, who run the place, are a delightful couple and went the extra mile to accommodate some of my eating and accommodation requests. I stayed several nights in one of the cheaper, but very adequate, long house rooms and did not have to use the mosquito netting; I just kept the fan on all night. I also stayed in one of the sea-view chalets for two nights but unless you really want a great view for RM45 more, then the longhouse was fine for me. Evenings were very quiet after 10pm. There is also some lovely, whimsical art work by Stella on the grounds to complement the wonderful garden atmosphere.

I augmented the included breakfasts for my low-carb diabetic diet with green vegetables that the kitchen staff cooked up for me. There are a number of excellent restaurants within a few to 15 minute walk (the ferry wharf is a brisk 15 min walk). There are a number of not to obtrusive cats but no dogs.

The snorkeling from the beach was very good, especially if you are a bit of an adventurous sort. I would rate it every bit as as good as the "from the beach" snorkeling in Bora-Bora and Fiji (Great Astrolabe reef) and better than most beach dives off the Yucatan and Belize coast. Swim out (best as the tide is coming in) at least to the farthest two buoys in front of the cottages and you will see some patch reefs in excellent shape. Water depths of 10 - 3 meters and plenty of healthy corals and fish. The Tioman Dive Centre is on site and they were quite helpful in pointing out the best snorkeling. I also took two boat snorkeling trips with some friends that Rich and Stella helped arrange. I especially recommend snorkeling at Renggis island and off of the village of Paya. Don't bother with the Marine Park north of Tekek.

My main request would be for some repair to the little beach cabanas and to add a couple more of them. I also always bring my own hammock and found a great spot to hang it (see photo). It was nice to have coffee waiting in the very pleasant big room every morning.
I hope to be back in the coming years.

Room Tip: I was very comfortable with a room with a fan in the longhouse.
