This wonderful Relais is a little hard to find but once you do you will be rewarded by
such peace and tranquillity, marvellous views and a charming hostess.
Natalie purchased this old coach house 9 years ago and has been working on it ever since. It shows, not only from the way she has decorated the rooms but her attention to the smallest detail is evident. The bedrooms are very nicely furnished and lack nothing.
Shortly after we arrived we had a swim in the lovely pool just below the inn as the weather was very hot. Our breakfast the following morning was laid out on a lovely table outside with the most beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The property is high up and so
one is looking down over a very peaceful sleepy valley.
Natalie made all the jams from fruit grown in her garden and she served a delicious breakfast of fruit, yogurt, freshly baked pastries & bread, orange juice and great coffee.
We were very close to the pretty mountain village of Penne d`Agenais and Natalie made a booking for us for dinner in a nice restaurant as she does not do evening meals. I would love to repeat my visit sometime in the future.
Great location to explore one of the most beautiful and interesting part of France.
In the main house ( Suite Ardoise) the view was spectacular, the room spacious and pleasantly decorated with fun memorabilia of a time past along with fine contemporary art work.
The breakfast was ok, local specialty jams and fresh fruit were offered and our host obliged to a request of non gluten bread...
We also rented one of the two houses to,accommodate our reunion .... well, appointed however smelling of a recent paint work ...Bedrooms were small with no window just a tiny tiny skylight for one...
Still the Relais located on the famous pilgrimage road of St Jacques de Compostela does not have much competition.. well done...but would be tremendous if the host was more convivial.
Despite the unfortunate hard rain and our having to stay indoors we so very much enjoyed the gorgeous views of green countryside from our spacious room/suite and salon of this truly exquisite B&B. Elegance throughout this lovingly restored 13thc hunting/coach lodge with Penne d'Agenais just 20 mn down the road.
English speaking Natalie served us aperitifs in the main room where we luxuriated in the comfy sofas & took in the surrounding décor & period furniture & artwork. Dinner was splendid in such a room as was the delicious & plentiful breakfast the following morning. We delighted in learning so much history of the area as well as French current events from our Parisian born hostess. Needs more than 1 night
Can't imagine without the rain how much It would be beyond heaven! Cannot wait to return.
We stayed for two nights after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Our ground floor bedroom was very large and furnished with many antiques. The shower was modern, large and very efficient. The breakfast was great with fresh bread and croissants and a little bowl of fruit from the garden: better than other places we stayed in.The dining/living room was staggering and full of antiques and old paintings, truly a well looked after family home.
Although we had very wet weather we could still appreciate the lovely valley views and there was even a swimming pool that we could have used if it had not been tipping with rain! The owner, Nathalie, looked after us well, but unfortunately had a bad riding accident on our second day, but her daughters filled in for her admirably.
We had our meals in the excellent Le Peyragude restaurant in the square in Penne which is only 10 minutes away by car.
We made a detour to stay at this chambre d'hôte and we were very plesaed we made the effort. This beautiful 13th century house has the most fantastic view over green rolling hills. The room was lovely. We ate breakfast in the large hall, Nathalie the owner had lite a fire in the vast fireplace and breakfast was excellent. The house is just outside the village Penne d'Agenais which is (un de la beaux village) lovely with very good restaurants. Nathalie is very charmiing which made in a great place to stay. The only problem our stay was too short, but we will go back again.
