My wife and I stayed at Marina Beach for two weeks at the start of September and found that most of the youngsters were in other hotels, and the people staying there were quite normal, no party animals or idiots. It was quite near the end of the season so a lot of the rabble had already been and gone
As with other reviews we will say that for a cheap holiday it was ok...and we realised that by the basic but usable accommodation. We were lucky enough to be put in room 15 which has the best view of the pool, beach and the sea stretching over to the Greek mainland.
If you are used to luxury then the beds and lack of things like a TV may not please you, but in this area you are meant to be outside enjoying the great views and the many activities that there is to do here on Corfu.
The beach may have a bit of weed, and a little litter on it, but when you start to explore the surrounding area you will find many beautiful places and people who will do anything for you.
You can take the bus and visit other beaches and towns, take boat trips to other islands or even Albania which is a wonderful trip, hire cars, bikes, quads beach buggies and taxis, everywhere you go they will invite you in with open arms, if you just buy a couple of drinks( there is no such thing as `a` drink) then the pool and amenities are yours for as long as you are there.
The variety of food to choose from is varied from cheap Full English to Chicken souvlaki (yum) or if you want to try out the supermarkets or local shops and eat Greek or not, everything is available, but check out the menu before you buy if you are on a budget as the prices on Paxos may be more than you think due to the high number of sailing crew with money to burn.
I am not going to tell you anything about the people who run this place apart from the fact that they all work very hard during the season to keep you as happy as they can.
There are men walking around selling wrist and ankle bands( So Good) was the patter from one of these friendly people,if you do not want an item then just be polite and say no thank you, if you actually start to talk to them then they will start with the patter, and they can be very polite and good with the ladies.
I was bit by mosquitoes on the first night even though I always tell myself to spray up (so spray up) and don`t get caught out like me, they itch and can go septic if you scratch.
Everyone I met in the two weeks we were there were nice and pleasant to my wife and I, so I have no complaints, The area of Corfu is not very large and is different in it`s own ways, be careful on the roads as there is a lack of kerbs(sidewalks) but go exploring and see the real rough side of living in a really sunny country, but wear good shoes, so many people on bikes with flip flops took me by surprise, there are laws and police on Corfu but you can get away with three on a bike with no lights on at night in Kavos, so be careful out there, and don`t become a victim of drink, drugs or getting mugged, if you fall over drunk and wake up in one of the Red Cross units or without your wallet then it will be expensive to YOU so try and not take the pis*, as the drinks are strong and cheap. Overall we had a fabulous time and if you are over 40 September is the time to stay in this Hotel and visit this resort.
Would I go again to Kavos Marina Beach Studios, now there is a question. I'd say yes but of course there are so many places to see in the world
