The Royal West Indies hotel garners praise for its well-kept gardens, multiple pools, and direct beach access, with guests appreciating the bonus of free bicycle use, despite some mentions of a missing gym. While the rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and impressive views, noise levels and booking mix-ups have been noted as drawbacks. Service quality appears to be a mixed bag, with commendations for the helpful beach staff contrasting with less reliable reception experiences. The hotel's cleanliness and updated facilities receive accolades, yet the peaceful atmosphere is occasionally marred by noise at inopportune times. Regarding value, some travelers question the hotel's pricing in relation to services like taxis and food, as well as billing and room allocation practices.

This was our fifth trip to Providenciales and first time at RWI. Previous visits had us staying down the beach but with the Ritz being constructed we changed location.
The grounds at RWI is the best part of the property. The front staff was either very helpful or not at all. We had to ask twice for wash clothes and a do not disturb sign. We requested a valet for our luggage to check out, no one showed up. We were on the third floor and there are no elevators. The few of the beach was great from our room. Our third call to the desk was to complain about our water being brown. A service guy came immediately and drained the hot water tank. The wait staff at the Pelican Bay was slow and seemed disinterested in life. Plan on spending $75 for lunch for two people. Bikes are free but our chain fell off before we got off the property. The front desk girl was nice but had no idea how to put air in the tires ar fix the chain. Another issue was the beach chairs. The beach concierge put the umbrellas up each day and reserved chairs for owners or for families who paid him. He did this at 6:15am and we were told we could come down at that time to reserve our chairs in the front row or sit in the back if we didn't get down in time. There is also no official food and beverage service at the beach. The noise level was low which was great since they have two pools and the restaurant.

My best vacation staying at RWI. Very clean. The room was serviced everyday. The bed sheets was changed daily, lots of towels was placed in our room daily as well. We made used of the coffee machine as well, we love coffee given by RWI. Food was expensive, so on our first day we took the bicycles from the hotel and road to the grocery store. I would advise to get bread/ cheese etc for your daily breakfast. We ate out every night. I truly enjoyed seafood dinners. Mr. Gouper, La Brasas. I rented a car of Budget rental, also affordable. Our stat on the island was 7 days. Must Do!

My husband and I stayed here as a pre Xmas vacation and it was a wonderful stay. The staff is helpful and kind and very attentive. They responded to our needs in a timely manner and were able to share tips and insights into things to do around the island. The room came with a kitchen and a washer/dryer which was very helpful and a balcony with partial ocean view. The buffet meals were high quality as well. The housekeeping staff was very prompt and made sure supplies were well stocked. They only provide shampoo conditioner and body wash so make sure you bring all your supplies or you’ll have to buy them on the island and the prices are very steep.
The only suggestion is if there had bette lighting around the resort. I tripped once because the path to the building was uneven and not well lit. So definitely keep a flashlight while walking after sunset.
Tip: the beach isn’t good for snorkeling so if you want to snorkel from shore then it’s not the best choice. Also the nearest grocery store is about 15 min away and the street gets dark. So you may want to rent a car if don’t mind driving on the other side of the road. We took cabs or mostly walked but that could be a hassle for some people

I had two nights booked July 2020 during the time that the border hasn't opened due to COVID. This hotel refuses to refund the $900 two night stay even though there is not way to get there. I did book through Hotwire and prepaid. Hotwire said "this hotel has a very stringent policy for prepaid stays." I have several other international trips that have been rearranged due to closed borders with no problems. The other night stays and all services associated with the extended portion of this trip, all reschedule with no problem. This is the only portion of several trips that was not accommodated in any way. I would make sure you purchased external insurance coverage to cover any unexpected changes (like an international border closure completely out of your control!) if you plan to stay at this hotel.

Almost 17 years have passed since we last visited this resort. The property had not been open long back then, and I questioned whether it could still be as idyllic as I remembered it to be.

The quick answer is yes. What an incredible property. It is meticulously maintained, including the beautiful grounds, pool areas, and buildings themselves.

In terms of the layout, Building 1 is truly oceanfront, with Building 2 being one back from the water, but you are still charged oceanfront rates. Buildings 3 and 4 face the pool and bar/restaurant, which may not be the best choice for those who want quieter surroundings. Building 5 is is the middle of the property, after which Buildings 6, 7, and 8 are towards the back and face the quiet pool. It is definitely quieter there, and the rates are better in these buildings as well.

Housekeeping does an outstanding job. The room was absolutely spotless and all housekeepers were cheerful and friendly.

The restaurant, Pelican Bay, was decent but we ate there only once and found a number of better alternatives off-property. As is Pelican Bay, the bar is adjacent to the main pool and has a steady crowd, day and night.

The beach area fronting the property is generally regarded to be on one of the best stretches of Grace Bay. It is absolutely spectacular, with sugary white sand and turquoise water that has to be seen to be believed. The friendly beach attendants will have your beach loungers and umbrella ready early each morning.

In the hospitality business, the highest compliment you can pay a property is to return. Royal West Indies is every bit as wonderful as we remembered it to be, and we will never stay anywhere else when we return to TCI.

We booked a 2 bedroom condo and in actual fact it was a one bedroom condo with an attached (via a foyer) studio. This worked out well for us, as 2 sisters shared the condo and the 3rd person had the separate studio. However, I could see how this could be an issue for families with young children.
The grounds were lovely and there was a nice restaurant/bar on premise that had good food at reasonable prices. But, the staff gave the impression they were not happy to be working there and the service was extremely slow. (However, Guion & Joel who were working on the weekend were very pleasant and our meal arrived much quicker).
Lastly, this was my 4th trip to Turks but first at RWI and this time I was bitten a significant amount of times, primarily around the feet and ankles. Not sure if this was Noseeums, or something else and where I got them. But never had this issue before.

This is the first review I have ever written because I think people should know. Although the place is pretty And rooms updated, the SERVICE is TERRIBLE. We booked a 2 BR condo and when we checked in with 3kids (including a 1 yo) they tried to give us two rooms one studio and one 1 BR,saying it’s connected. When we got to the room, it was NOT connected, you had to leave one and go to the other. When we complained, the man told us what we booked doesn’t exist! Which was a total lie because when my husband pulled it up and showed him, magically an ocean view 2 BR condo appeared! So they lied! Which I don’t get because most other resorts would have gladly upgraded to avoid angry customers and especially with a baby! Who puts a baby in a separate room? And the lying was unacceptable! I have never had an experience like this. Then they needed an HOUR to “get the (vacant) room ready” because of a lightbulb and let us and baby sit in limbo for an hour at 5:30pm. Next day the coffee maker was broken and we called them about it. They came and took it then called us that they didn’t have the key to the storage room to replace it!! What does that even mean? we also had a toilet flood at night and the guy came to fix it, but couldn’t clean it bc housekeeping was gone for the day! So he just left it wet and dropped the towel across our living area and when we called front desk, hesaid they would send someone to clean but didn’t. The answer to any question was “I don’t know” by staff. It’s quite disappointing. And when we asked for late check out they charged us, so I asked if maybe they can waive the fee since our room wasn’t ready til 7pm, the answer was no. Many Other guests were unhappy too.

My wife and I just got back from spending a week here. We had a great experience with it being our first time at Royal West Indies and first time in Turks & Caicos. Check-in was a breeze, they had everything ready for us and made it easy. We were assisted to our room by Sherman, who was very friendly and quick to offer assistance on multiple occasions. Once we got to the room (we did pay a little extra when booking for an Oceanfront studio....well worth it), we were pleasantly surprised by the awesome view of the beach and sea from our room. Our room came with a kitchenette which we found was very useful and came in handy on multiple occasions when we were able to stock up with items from the grocery store nearby. With that said the nearest grocery store is well within walking distance, but we elected to use the bikes the resort had on site. We were able to check the bikes out for 2hrs at a time. This gave us plenty of time to ride to a restaurant for lunch and grab some stuff from the store for later. A couple of the bikes had seen better days, but they served their purpose and got us around. One of the main reasons we chose to stay here was for the beach and now we see why this was voted The Best Beach in the world by several sources, not to mention Royal West Indies seems to have the most area in terms of beach out of all of the resorts, trust me we walked the entire stretch. The resort has several other amenities we enjoyed as well such as paddleboards, beach chairs with umbrellas, kayaks, etc. If you decide to go parasailing or any other water excursions, they will pick you up right there on the beach in front of the hotel as well. There are also two pools on site as well. Overall the experience was great, we felt safe, had a good time, everything was clean and well kept. Oh yeah and I almost forgot to mention the best part, the restaurant/bar on site (Pelican Bay) has the best happy hour on the island from 5pm-7pm with half off on all drinks. This was great, especially since everything else on the island seemed to be so pricey. We had a great time at Royal West Indies and if we return to Turks and Caicos, this would be the place to stay for sure.

We were not sure what to expect when we got here, and we had read all the reviews about this resort. My wife likes to be right on the ocean so we rented an ocean front room. The resort consists of 8 buildings with 15 rooms each. Building one is the 1 directly on the beach and has the ocean front rooms. Some of the other buildings are much further back from the beach, and they say the rooms may be ocean view, but you may not be able to see much. The cost of an ocean front room is only slightly higher than the ocean view rooms, and I would strongly recommend it.

Several reviews said that the Wi-Fi was bad. However, we had 4 bars in our building and there was also Wi-Fi on the beach which worked fine. The TV used the cable company and had several channels to choose from. The room was very clean and well decorated. Housekeeping came every day to change out the towels and make up the bed and clean up The dishes. All the rooms have king badd's, microwave and a refrigerator and freezer. The A/C worked fine, and there is a ceiling

The resort is not that close to the nearest downtown and shopping area, but it's only about a mile walk along the roads to get there. There are several great restaurants in the shopping area and a grocery store. We had a rental car, so that wasn't an issue for us. They also have free bicycles and Kayaks and Hobie cats.

We did not dine on the resort, but all of the other staff seemed to be very polite and friendly. There was no problem getting lounge chairs on the beach as well as umbrellas, no charge. If we had to come back, we would definitely stay here again.

Royal West Indies is a great spot on the island. It's on the nicest beach I have ever seen, the grounds are fantastic and the staff is great. The rooms are condo style rooms with full kitchens and very spacious, with island style decor that is simple and comfortable. The onsite restaurant is good and convenient and you are very close to other great eating options on the island as well. Overall a fantastic place to unwind, rest and enjoy the awesome Grace Bay beach. The resort is very clean and the rooms are cleaned daily on time and there is never a shortage of towels and other things you might need.
