A night in paradise. Me and my friend rented a private room. After having the worst nights of our trip in Rocking J's Hostel at Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, we arrived at this beautiful establishment. It was very quiet and relaxing, our room was clean, cold (A/C) and the owner was just amazing!!! She was so welcoming, free spirit with...

This hostel is in such a great location and could be so much more - something agreed by all of the travellers staying there whilst we were there. It is literally on the beach (the sand flies were a bit of a nuisance!), and the hostel itself is cool and creative. However, the staff weren't great at dealing with issues,...

I had an unforgettable and really good stay in Gran Kahuna Beach Hostel. As soon as I knew about this place I moved from the hostel I currently stayed to Gran Kahuna. The atmosphere is exactly how the hostel looked like, inspiring, chilled out and very happy. A lot of things in the hostel are handmade by the owners and...

This place is set up with a great deal of creativity, and has many items made by previous guests. We were lucky and got a bargain as a thank you for our help. By travellers, for travellers! The atmosphere was great and laid back, and included of nights with live music and poker. Many (local) friends were made here. The...

I'm not one to write bad reviews but staying here was horrible. I noticed the bites the day after my first night there but did not want to jump to conclusions about bed bugs. When I returned to the hostel later that night, I got out a flashlight and they were everywhere, and not just little ones. I killed about...

We actually just wanted to stay for one night and then travelling around but at the end we stayed in this place for the whole time. That happened firstly because the staff welcomed us very warmly that we felt at home immediatly. We were hanging out every evening at the bar with the people who work there and they gave...

I was initially booked in for 2 nights and ended up staying for 10 nights. I would have stayed longer if there was availability! Despite being so far away from home, i've never felt more at home! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Rooms are cleaned regularly and all have their own bathroom! I loved this place, the vibe is...

This is a solid backpacker's hostel in many respects. The location is fine, right on a pleasant beach and easy to get to and get away from, and a 10 min. walk to Black Rock for another fine beach for surfing and a shallow reef for snorkeling (followed a big manta ray there). The communal areas are comfortable, and the...

1. The dorms are tiny, they cram in 6 bunk beds, so there is no room for your things (unless you fit everything in the lockers). 2. They advertise A/C, this is loud and only works for the bunk in front of it. Everyone else is stinking hot. 3. Hundreds of sand flies live in the rooms, I got bitten...
