I read these comments in the other reviews, and I must update the score. I met the old owner, an old man in poor health that has sold the place following a stroke. The new owners are an american couple who are truly good hosts. The cabins were clean, the hot water worked great, the bathrooms clean, and the linens...

The Buccaneer is a clean tranquil comfortable place to stay with wonderful views on Isla Carenero. Capt. Thom is a character, one I enjoyed immensely. Isla Carenero has it's share of sand flies, but it is an excellent respite from the noise and "bustle" of Bocas Town. The Buccanner was in the middle of changing ownership/altho Capt Thom will still...

My Father and I lodged at the Bucanneer 4 nights while searching for investment property within the islands. The Bucanneer was exactly what we wanted. Captain Thom greeted us with an invitation into his personal upstairs apartment to enjoy a cold beer. Our accomodations were clean, great hot water and water pressure, and clean sheets and shower towels daily. Indeed...

We just got back from our honeymoon in Panama and loved the stay in the Buccaneer. This resort is what I was looking for and the canbanas were authentic and very nice. The 2 minute water taxi to and from Bocas was fun and gave even more of the tropical vacation we needed. We had clean sheets and towels each...

I went to Bocas Del Toro to do some research for a novel I'm writing and stayed at the Buccaneer Resort on Isla Carenero. What a treat it was. The thatched-roof bungalow was great. It had comfortable beds with clean linens, a nice bathroom with a hot water shower, and the bedroom was air conditioned. The views of the Caribbean...

I love to travel! And I've spent quite alot of time in Costa Rica and Panama over the years.I have to say I was soo happy with my choice in the Buccaneer Resort. It was centrally located between isla Colon(good for bars and restaurants) and Bastimentos isle (has sights to see but a bit farther away)And if you surf its...

We (A family of 4) spent 4 nights at the Buccaneer at the end of a three week trip to Panama and Costa Rica and the Buccaneer was the highlight of our vacation. The staff and owner Captain Thom could not have been more welcoming or hospitable. We felt we were part of the family in no time at all....

STAY AWAY-- this is no secluded hideaway where tranquility and nature meet. The beds are never changed or the rooms cleaned. There is no running hot water. There are sandflies in the rooms, beds and everywhere else on the property. The staff is of no help and the owner seems to be a grouch who doesn't care about his guests....

We spent 4 nights at the Buccaneer, which was about 4 1/2 nights too many. The owner truly made the stay unenjoyable. His offensive comments (extending to a whole range of topics, including insulting the country, Panamanians, and personal comments about us!) and grumpy, inhospitable manner made us feel like we were a burden. As for the accomodations, the Buccaneer...

We returned recently from the Bocas del Toro area. While it is not for everyone in that it is a bit "rough around the edges", it has much to offer the adventurous traveller. One place to avoid is the Buccaneer Resort. We had two nights there recently. While the accommodations are adequate as far as the rooms and location, the...
