We booked because of good reviews and it was close to a family event. On checking in we were upgraded to a four poster room which was large and had great views. En suite was also large with dressing gowns and plenty of toiletries. No proper soap but that's my preference, didn't spoil my stay!! Breakfast was very good, hot,...

We would echo the previous reviewer's remarks. Our room was very small, though clean. It was far too hot at night which prevented me sleeping. We did however ask a member of staff to look at the radiator and the following night it seemed to be cooler, but couldn't be turned off completely. The other point is that the walls...

We stayed for 4 nights last week having seen the good reviews on Trip Advisor. However our room was small ( sq metres) and felt claustrophobic, although the ensuite was nice. The room was extremely hot in spite of turning the heating off and we had to sleep at night with the window wide open. also the room was over...

My wife and I went for a meal in the main restaurant which was excellent, scallops on black pudding followed by duck and then sticky toffee pudding. A very nice conservatory to sit and have a drink in, also weather permitting a patio to sit and admire the view to the lake and mountains.

We stayed here for two nights in early October. The hotel has beautiful views over the valley towards Bassenthwaite Lake and the staff could not be more friendly or attentive. We ate on both nights in the hotel bistro where you can choose food from either the restaurant or bistro menus. Dinner and the following day's breakfast were both excellent....

Stayed at the lodge for two nights on our journey south from Scotland and had great food and local beer while enjoying the countryside. The hotel is comfortable with staff who can't do enough for you and the food is great value and tasty. Just a short walk from the hotel is a charming and quiet church, a place to...

The staff were polite, room was clean but basic. There were brewing facilities with uht milk but you can ask for fresh milk and sugar cubes. The views made the room! Breakfast was nice and served fast. There's a lovely walk, about 20 mins away to the lake past the church. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

After a long drive south from the Highlands we arrived to a very warm and attentive welcome. Our host showed us to room 6 - an enormous room at the end of the building, probably the original hayloft, masses of space and a very comfortable superking bed! A very comfortable room although for the size of the bedroom the en...

Stayed 1-5 October and cannot praise staff, chef, owner and facilities enough. The staff go beyond the call of duty to make you feel welcome and meet your needs, the rooms are very quiet and comfortable, the food is truly "out of this world", exquisite and fabulously presented and it is a wildlife paradise. There is also excellent walking directly...
