Guacamaya Lodge is a hidden gem! We didn't want to leave. It's located in a small beach town and is just a few minutes walk to get to the beach (Playa Junquillal). The beach itself is a black sand beach with beautiful views. Great place to catch the sunset AND it's actually romantic here compared to Tamarindo where the beach...

We had to cut short our stay in Arenal due to inclement weather and booked this on very short notice. What a lovely place! We had a kitchenette (though we didn't need it for the short time we were there). Our view from the 2nd floor had a great view of the ocean and it was so peaceful sitting there...

While we were unable to stay at the lodge, we did eat there several times. Each meal was delicious! And the staff was all exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Of particular note were the caprese salad with an amazing balsamic reduction, as well as any dish that contained shrimp. We had several different shrimp dishes and each contained to most tender...

No nightlife in Junquillal. We walked the beach (Playa Junquillal) about 8 minutes from the hoteland if you keep walking towards your right you will reach Playa Blanca with beautiful white sand. You can walk up the stairs and have a drink at the Iguanazul hotel. You can also drive to Playa Negra about 15 minutes away going North. You...

No stress here. Our hosts and their staff were magnificent from our first cup of delicious coffee in the early morning to our evening meal and bottle of wine. Every meal prepared fresh and delicious. The only drawback were our beds which were 2 twins pushed together, otherwise this lodge and its hosts will not disappoint.

We were able to secure a studio on short notice for one night due to a change in plans. What a great surprise and treat. The place is gorgeous. Super clean and well maintained. Beautiful pool area adjoining the bar. Easy walk to the beach. The food was fabulous. The cook/chef was able to prepare my catch (snapper) grilled with...

We only stayed here one night on our trip to Costa Rica but next time we will stay longer. Loved this lodge and the owners (Burnie and Alice) are really nice also, along with the staff. It's a short walk from the beach and the beach is so serene. There is a turtle nesting area on the beach that we...

We spent 6 days at this wonderful resort. We truly enjoyed Burnie, Alice and all the staff. Everyone was friendly, accommodations were clean, spacious and convenient. The food and drinks were great. We would certainly return to Guagamaya in the future.

As in the past two visits we found the Guacamaya Lodge to be excellent. The rooms are comfortable and well designed (we had a small cook stove and fridge in our room). As with all Costa Rican hotels, tiny ants are evident everywhere so it is necessary to keep all unsealed food in the fridge. The very good room design...

Our family of 4 (2 kids under 3) just finished staying for 2 weeks at Casa Margarita. This was the perfect spot for some quality family time. Gorgeous pool, beautiful surroundings, comfortable beds, great A/C, well stocked kitchen, clean rooms, and friendly people. We didnt have a car for most of our stay but a well stocked grocery store is...
