My husband and I stayed for 21 days at this 10 room gem. We loved how the owner Jodi, manager Yaz, and house keepers, attendants Erica and Cesia gave us superior service. The rooms are comfortable but basic and dorm-like in appearance. I was most interested in this economic spot that allowed us to spend one month traveling in Costa Rica. AC was cold, mini fridge and daily breakfast -, scrambled eggs, gallo pinto (rice and beans) bread and coffee , served from 8-9 am daily was held at the outdoor rancho pavilion that had a gas grill, stove top grill, microwave, sink and all pans and plates to cook and serve your own meals. How convenient! Many ticos had reunions here since other rooms (not our room 1) had bunk beds, full fridge, and a stove top gas grill w picnic table and hammock. Hotel is on a busy street, The great deal is 15 min walk to the right puts you at Brasilito beach. Continue the wslk on the beach past Camaron Dorado restaurant gives you a beach that rarely had more than a few people here. Yaz was so kind to retrieve and hand deliver my cell phone to me that I had foolishly left behind . She met me at our next hotel in Potrero Beach. Now that is above and beyond service! She also helped me get a refund on a tour we arranged that never picked us up! Jodi got me softer pillows and swiftly resolved a bathroom issue we had. The pool is missing some tiles, but very refreshing to return to each night. Thank you for a comfortable stay. Treated like family!

My friend and I stayed here for one week on arriving to Costa Rica, this place is great!
The rooms are clean and comfortable with air con, powerful hot water shower and breakfast is made freshly every morning and served outside.
The location was good for us as a base as we were keen to explore. We walked down to Playa Brasilito which was around 10 mins. The beautiful white sands of Playa Conchal are a good 30 min walk which didn't bother us but may be something to bear in mind if you want to be right on the beach. There are shops and restaurants and a very interesting local bar in Brasilito which is a quiet town. Tamarindo is around a 20 min drive away if you're looking for a busier town and nightlife.
There isn't loads going on in Brasilito but we enjoyed horse riding on the beach to watch the sunset, a boat trip and snorkelling in Conchal, Playa Flamingo is pretty but far too touristy for us and this hotel made a good base. We were glad to have our little sanctuary to come home to. The pool area is lovely, nice and clean with loungers and hammocks.
What really makes this place is the staff. My friend and I travelled around Costa Rica and the staff here were by far the nicest people of anywhere we stayed! Jodie and her gorgeous team gave us advice, chatted to us, even made sure they had the details of our taxi driver when we left, and that we checked in with them at our next destination. We both just adored everyone here and it has a really safe, family feel.
Thank you guys! You're the best!

Thank you so much for staying with us and taking the time to let others know of your experience. You are right, we are centrally located for a pearl necklace of beautiful white beaches and "black" beaches (sand use to be volcano lava). We are centrally located for Sea, Sand, Jungle, and Volcano Experiences. It is even possible to have a very full day visiting Nicaragua from here. We are perfectly located to start your trip here (we can help a lot), stay here the whole time, or end your trip here relaxing on the beach before heading to the Liberia Airport (less than 1 hour away). Costa Rica looks like a small country and one that can be seen in a week or two but travel is slow and it is best to see it in sections to save yourself hours and hours in the car. We are perfect for your Guanacaste segment or when arriving or leaving from the international airport in Liberia. We are so happy that you were able to appreciate that. I love my staff and am proud of the work each of them do to make our little place a sanctuary after a long day of play.

A welcoming place to stay with very friendly staff. A nice breakfast is included each morning, and there are nice outdoor common spaces with picnic tables and tables and chairs in the pool area. Short walk to nearby beaches and restaurants.

So terrible experience! Is disguting and their publicity is a lie. Customer service provided coming from the owner is not what you expect, she is rude and treated our family as garbage, being us the clients! Pool is disgusting! We paid around $100 for a cabin, when we arrived and realized about the situation we asked for our money back and the owner told us she was going to return it. Today we called since havent received the reimbursement and she said wasnt to return anything. This is completely unacceptable.

Despite receiving a confirmation of your reservation after a long WhatsApp exchange you arrived on the day of your reservation demanding a different room with too many people for the room you had. We were full and could not accommodate your request but expected you to honor the reservation that you did make and confirm with a deposit after receiving the reservation information. You refused and left after being very aggressive. As a courtesy the owner gave you back your money for the second night but you cannot cancel a reservation on the same day and expect a refund.

For the price, you can't go wrong. The owner was so nice and the staff was very helpful. We stayed two weeks and traveled to local beaches with our rental car. Traffic from the nearby road in the early morning.

The Tropical Fun Cabinas (Cabinas Diversion Tropical) ... where to begin...
We had the best time staying here as we were out all day long on activities every day and came back to a nice clean room with cold drinks in the mini fridge to relax and sleep after long days in the sun.
First off believe it or not the rooms are $35 a night ($40 if you pay with credit card) and that gets you the following..
A clean and secured room with a good sized bed (double)
High 15 to 20ft ceilings with large fan AND Air Conditioning TV, hot water, towels, mini fridge, TONS of space for luggage and gear and a shared patio area with your own table and a house keeping service each day which cleans the room and puts in new towels.
The fan in the room when on high is powerful enough to suck a small child off the floor (joke) and almost removes the need for the A/C all together. We put the A/C on and the fan on low and soothed our sunburned bodies for 3 nights.
You can rent Kayaks for $15/ 2hr's or Mountain Bikes for $6 a day and also the ability to rent snorkel gear from the hotel. We rented a kayak and paddled out to an island where we went snorkeling for several hours. You can also rent ATV's from the place across the street or rent horses to ride on the beach from vendors in town or on Playa Conchal who cater to the resort there.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk (300-400 meters) away from the town of Brasilito which shows up as Playa Brasilito on the maps. Playa Brasilito is literally next door to Playa Conchal which is the white sandy beach in my photos. Playa Conchal is BEAUTIFUL!
You can drive your 4x4 truck on to Playa Brasilito and over to Playa Conchal after crossing a small stream (Go slow and in 4WD to cross). To get to Playa Conchal it's a 20 minute walk on the beach (beautiful) or a 10 minute drive. It's a great drive through water, some woods and on to the white sand of Playa Conchal
In town there are tons of Sodas where you can eat for $3-$5 a person as well as a few places looking for tourist dollars . You can spend 3 nights in Playa Brasilito at the Tropical Fun Cabinas for what it will cost you to spend one night elsewhere AND you have the access of the rental gear to enhance your fun. It is what you make of it which is how we live life...
I can not recommend this hotel enough. My wife and I spent 3 days of our honeymoon here and had some of the most active days of our trip soaking up playa Conchal and Brasilito. We prefer being active than to be pampered in a resort.
The hotel is safe and comfortable and I would recommend it highly to anyone who wants to have a great place to stay while enjoying the beaches of Brasilito and Conchal.
The snorkeling around the rocks between the Playa Conchal and Playa Brasilito beaches is good! The kayak trip we took out to the island on the north side of Playa Brasilito was great. The snorkeling there was awesome as well and we saw many puffer fish as well as tons of other fish.
The hotel is situated about 50m from a small store where we purchased ice cream nightly for desert after a dinner in town as well a drinks to keep our mini fridge stocked. There is also a secured ATM about 100M away and many places to eat and drink ranging from Italian (we ate a good Hawaiian pizza there) to local spots.
I'd suggest this hotel highly for anyone who wants an inexpensive and safe place to act as home base while they are out being active during their days. Rick the owner is a very helpful and well traveled guy and the pride he takes in his hotel shows. The hotel is brand new being only 6 months old and is in fantastic shape.
There are only 9-10 rooms in this hotel which made our stay a nice quiet one. We will be back!

We lucked across this motel / hostel (it's a bit of both) when we changed our plans last minute. Owner was terrific and staff super nice. Very reasonable and great place if you are traveling with kids on a budget. For us it was a perfect ending to our vacation.

I canceled to stay at this place couple days before staying and they still charged for one night. Shame for an american guy that is suppose to do clean business or hotel is not doing any good that steals money from people. Watch out travelers.

I'm sorry but you are not telling the full story. You had a reservation for Saturday night Aug 23. 1 night. You did not cancel your reservation and did not show up. I was completely full that night, so your no show would have cost me $50. I called you that day and left a message for you to call me and explain why you did not show up and did not cancel your reservation. Over the next 2 days, I called you multiple times. You never answered or returned my calls. So I tried to charge your credit card for the no-show. Lo and behold, the charge was denied. You knew you did not have to worry about canceling your reservation because the credit card you reserved the room with had no money in it. The money does not matter to me, but I don't like dishonest people to cheat me. On the off chance that you may have put money in the card, I tried the card 3 weeks later. It had money in it so I charged you for the room you failed to cancel. This is the truth!

My wife and I stayed here as we wanted to be close to Playa Conchal. We had heard Playa Flamingo was overrun with tourism so this was a better choice for us. The hotel is located on the main highway but the noise in very minimal. In comparison to Santa Teresa where staying along the main road is a huge mistake this locationw as not a problem at all. It is within walking distance to a market, the town square which has several places to eat and of course the two beaches. The room was clean, had a fridge, hot water, a fan and A/C. There is a cooking area outside along with a pool. The owner was very helpful and provided us with maps of the area and free snorkel gear. This place has more of a Motel vibe than a hostel or hotel. It is about a 10 min walk to the bus station but you can always hail the bus from the road. Also the maid came to our room everyday, this did not happen at other more upscale hotels so I thought I would mention that.
