Quality Food with Great service We went to Cafe Sam as we had just 30 minutes to have a quick bite before we went on the Whale watching Cruze. The server was really very good and assured us of quick service. She took our order and told is what would be quick. The food came in ten minutes and we enjoyed the food including the fresh warm bread. All items we ordered were very good and we were able to leave in time for our boat Cruze.

Had a couple of meals here and was blown away by the amazing food and lovely staff. Took such good care of us and made us feel like family. Cute rooms and such a relaxing setting by the river. Thanks for the warmth and hospitality.

We had expected to eat at our motel in Baie St-Catherine, but the dining room was full so we walked up the hill to Cafe Chez Sam. It was lighted outside with Christmas lights and inside the walls overflowed with art.. Our waiter was fantastic, so friendly and accommodating. We had two children with us who were at first intimidated by the French menu, but our waiter explained everything well and we settled on an interesting array of food. My soup and cheese plate were delicious. Others had salads and local dishes. We all felt satisfied and happy at the end of the meal.

ate here for dinner after seeing the whales. just a few minutes from the st catherine dock and very close to the main road. a very eccentric building with lots of knick knacks. food though was quite good. i had the shrimp salad and loved it, especially the dressing. bread was good too. the cheese in the salad was absolutely fantastic with different varieties of it. my wife had a pasta dish and said it was good too. however, the menu was limited, place felt a little dirty, was expensive and not many options for kids. I think we would try somewhere else next time but keep in mind there are few options.

The rooms are very basic with a small bathroom. Breakfast was a 'do it yourself' meal using the restaurant's kitchen. The restaurant served a good evening meal, but it also provided us with noise until 10:30 or 11 pm when it closed.

Recently we attended Cafe Chez Sam following our whale watching trip. We had time to spend before we went horseback riding. The staff at the cafe were friendly, eccentric, their energy was contagious and the ambiance was very familiar. It brought me back to visiting my grandparents with the antique furniture and very used (and clean) atmosphere. We ordered a rhubarb cobbler and coffee. Both were so fresh and the ingredients used were organic and fresh. We sat overlooking the yard which had a clear view of the ocean. It was calming and very relaxing. I'd definitely recommend that you visit Cafe Chez Sam if you're ever in the area.

Inexpensive hotel. Interesting place. A lot of noise until 10:30 and then quiet. Had a good sleep. Breakfast was a lot of things set out in the kitchen, like Harvest Crunch Cereal, bread. Milk and jam were in the fridge. Not great. Felt like a hostel. Good food the night before: bison curry.

This was a 1 night stay on our way to a whale watching excursion. The place is eclectic with a lot of character. Owners are very nice and social. It's more of a hostel feel than B&B; compact and clean, with oddities such a toilet bowl in the corner of your room (we lucked out and had an actual tiny bathroom with walls). Loose power outlets and exposed awkward wiring in some places raise eyebrows (building code), also chipped mugs (safety) take away from their otherwise cute collection of mismatched dinnerware and silverware. Dinner was good, but not a fair match to its price and the same can be said about the price of the room. We still left in a good mood, but what made up for their shortcomings was without a doubt the location and stunning views of the bay.

We have been desperately looking for a free room in the surrounding and finally landed chez Sam late in the evening, with only beds left in the bigger dormitory. We were do happy to have dinner served despite late hours! Fabulous local cuisine! The dormitory is very simple and could deserve some improvement such a ladder to climb on the upper beds and cleaner normal blankets. It was great to sit late night at the outdoor fire place and chat with the owners. The breakfast is self-service and you feel at home! The view on the bay in the morning is magic! At the end We were slightly surprised by the price we paid which we found to be above average for the simplicity of the location.

Friendly staff and the building itself is rustic and beautiful but few comforts for a family with young children. While our room had enough sleeping for a family of 4, it fell short on a few other conveniences for a young family: a very small bathroom with only a small stand-up shower, limited power outlets and limited menu. It's in a beautiful spot, just off the main highway and about a 10 minute drive to the Tadoussac ferry.
