Residence Bassac is located in the attractive, small town of Champasak. Once known as Bassac, from which our hotel takes its name, the town has a unique character and comprises nine villages. The neighbouring area is home to 40 different villages and the famous pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Phou whose cultural landscape is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of the many reasons why you will be charmed by the town and the region combining centuries of history with exceptional natural beauty. Our hotel has 14 rooms – 4 Suite Duplex rooms, 2 Suite Mekong Side, 4 Deluxe Garden View rooms, 2 Superior Double Rooms, and 2 Superior Twin rooms, all spacious, soothing and elegant.
The Basak residence is a small cocoon of well-being, everything is refined, from the trilogy of welcome cocktails to the details of the rooms. Breakfasts are exquisite and the restaurant's menu offers delicious cuisine. You can use the bikes to get to wat Phu and the ride to wat Muang Kang along the Mekong river allows you to cross the villages and meet the smiles and sabaidee of its inhabitants. The staff is an attention at all times. Having a drink while watching the river flowing and the fishermen sailing, walking in the village and discovering all the old colonial buildings transports us to the last century. We will return with pleasure. Laurent & Sophie

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic stay here for three nights this June. We stayed in the two level duplex suite, which felt like a lovely apartment, with a super comfortable bed and even an extra half bathroom. The property has a beautiful view of the Mekong River and is located in a quiet and charming area of Champasak. It’s also very close to Wat Phou, which makes it easy to beat the heat and the crowds on an early morning trip. Most importantly, the manager Api and her assistant Pi are welcoming and wonderful, and the staff really made us feel at home. I would highly recommend coming here for at least two nights for a romantic or family getaway.

It was delightful to receive warm hospitality as soon as we arrived. The staff greeted us warmly with ginger strawberry juice and led us to the rooms which were nicely decorated. The conditioners already were turned on and scent was lit up...very refreshing and relaxing. The garden rooms are very cozy. The flowers in the courtyard are very beautiful and worth exploring. I, myself, had a room with the river view. Having the windows opened to greet the stars from the bed was awesome. We woke up early to enjoy the milky way and sunrise by the river. It was fantastic. Gourmet breakfast was well prepared and garnished. It was the best meal I had during my stay in Pakse. Overall service and hospitality is excellent. I would like to extend my appreciation to Apeksha Jain and…

We had been on our travels for a number of weeks when we arrived at Residence Bassac. As soon as we walked into the hotel we knew this was somewhere special. It does not have some of the facilities that our previous hotels boasted such as gyms and swimming pools etc but had such a good and relaxing feel about it.Perfectly positioned for the Champasak region and all it has to offer.Quiet but you could spend hours watching the daily life pass by in front of the hotel. The staff were ever helpful with permanent smiles on their faces and the restaurant excellent. If I were coming back to this region again this would have to be my go to hotel. They deserve all their plaudits.

What an amazing start to our Laos adventure, Residence Bassac is picture perfect. From the airport pickup to day trips swimming in waterfalls with a hearty picnic lunch everything seemed effortless ,testament to the professionalism and beautiful nature of the Hotels incredible staff.Situated on both sides of the road with the Mekong for a neighbour. Sun rise over the Mekong just beautiful followed by breakfast in Soum Noum where the food was always great, breakfast lunch and dinner traditional Lao and very tasty and the beer Lao always cold. Our room was well appointed spotlessly clean and very comfortable and quiet.Be sure not to miss the morning parade of locals going to and from the market and the kids on the way to school with their inquisitive stares ,smiles and occasional…

This boutique style hotel is a little gem. It sits on the banks of the Mekong and is in a renovated old colonial style building oozing with character. The staff here are first class and could not do enough for you. We ate two nights in the restaurant on site and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also similarly of a very high standard. Residence Bassac benefits from a location close to the main amenities in Champasak. I would highly recommend a stay at Residence Bassac.

We stayed for a few nights recently. The garden rooms are very pleasant indeed surrounding a small courtyard. The staff were friendly and wifi good. The hotel lacks a focus however and a pool would work wonders. Still a very good stay in a hotel that is almost excellent but not quite.

1. Location: Champasak is a very small town and it does not take a long time to traverse the length of it on foot. That said, this hotel is along the main stretch, within easy reach of restaurants and the few attractions within the town. It has grounds that overlook the Mekong as well, which makes it really pretty. 2. Rooms: Very spacious, very comfortable. Beautifully designed, with a good mix of Laotian details and modern comforts. Lighting, room amenities, and the bathroom and toilet were all simply very pleasing and made our stay there a really great one. Wifi connection is great too. 3. Amenities: The building is a sensibly and sensitively restored old building, and like the rooms, it was beautifully decorated with aesthetic art pieces. The grounds have lush manicured and…

Having been blessed to travel all over Southeast Asia I can absolutely say this is one of the most special places. There is incredible attention to detail throughout the entire hotel. The rooms are beautiful and well designed. The restaurant serves delicious breakfasts and wonderful pizza. 🙂Each and every member of staff deserves praise and they are headed by an outstanding general manager Apeksha. As I have mentioned in other reviews I am indeed the Hotel Monster and not the easiest but I left extremely happy. Personally I found the value of the hotel one of the best of anywhere in the world. There are 14 lovely rooms and I looked at a few different ones but for me I thought my Deluxe Duplex was outstanding in size, design and even though I happily travel solo there is one and…

The hotel is very well maintained with lots of great details in the room. The room was clean and comfortable. They were able to organise transport for our trips. The staff were attentive and helpful. The food in the restaurant was hit and miss (some things were barely warm, let alone hot) but we found going for local items meant the food would be good.
