I and my family spent three nights in one of the self-catering cottages in the grounds of Soulton Hall, as we were attending a wedding nearby. The price (£540) belies the fact that the property is very basic, poorly maintained and in need of extensive refurbishment. Half the price would be more appropriate. In particular, the following issues need to...

My fiancé and I visited this venue with our one year old (whilst I was also heavily pregnant) to consider holding our wedding here (I called ahead and briefed them of our wedding desires to check they could cater for us as didn't want to waste our time). Initially upon visiting it appeared exactly what we were looking for; not...

We are a family of 4; 2 adults and 2 children aged 10 & 12 and have just had a lovely 2 night stay. When booking I spoke to Ann to ascertain the best rooms for us and she suggested we stay in the Cedar Lodge - 3 rooms consisting of 2 bedrooms and a small lounge with a sofa...

My husband & I had a delightful stay with the Ashton Family, we had a lovely room complete with 4 poster bed, which was very comfortable, lovely views. An excellent 3 course meal, with reasonable cost of wine. A wonderful breakfast in the medieval dining room. Very cosy with a warm welcome.

The Ashton family and ancestors have lived at Soulton Hall for centuries. The family who live at the Hall make every effort to make guests feel as if they are in fact lords and ladies of the manor. The setting is incredible, the cuisine top notch and the 500 year old house a delight.

I should start by saying that concerning the wedding venue itself, in the converted barn - it was stunning. The wedding, food and ambience was absolutely brilliant, a very memorable wedding with good memories. However, where it is concerned as a hotel, we stayed in the brick lodges to the right of the main Hall. The decor was absolutely disgusting!...

My stay at Soulton Hall was the highlight of my and my wife's trip to England (and my review echoes her sentiments). I can say without hesitation that staying at Soulton made me feel like I was living in the English countryside, and not like a tourist. As I learned during my stay, Soulton is over 500-years old, and it...

A friend and I stayed for two nights in Cedar Lodge and what a disappointment it was. The windows were single glazed so traffic noise was a problem at night. The windows needed a good clean as did the entire accommodation. The furnishings were mismatched and very dated. On the plus side the beds were very comfortable and the towels...

Beautiful house and excellent food. Interesting rooms with good quality linens. Little stingy on the hospitality tray but that's a minor quibble. All in all lovely experience, albeit a little expensive.

Booked afternoon tea at Soulton Hall on our return from Ironbridge Gorge. We entered the Hall and there was no one around after numerous calls of hello is anyone in one of the proprietors popped his head round a lower ground floor door. The lady of the house finally appeared and I said I had booked afternoon tea for two....
