Only stopped at this hotel for one night which was unfortunate for us, wish we could have stayed longer. The ambiance of the hotel, with its period rooms, high ceilings, and feeling of space was really pleasing. Although in middle of Feb, hotel was well booked, and obviously, some people were revisiting. Our receptionist Claire made us really welcome, and...

We stayed on 31st Dec with friends for the dinner and disco. The welcome and service throughout our stay was first class. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely visit again. Great value and a wonderful evening.

Although there's not a lot to Wem, the village is quaint, the people friendly and this hotel worth a night or two. We stayed over New Years but didn't attend the 'do' put on by the hotel. We weren't bothered by revellers though and enjoyed a quiet night, ringing in 2015. Ate in the restaurant one night and really enjoyed...

Checked in by lovely receptionist who got chef to wait for 10 minutes as it was late and we were starving. The food was delicious and the room was warm, clean and quiet. In the morning breakfast was a buffet with very good choice. The house reeks character and the staff could not be more helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

We've just returned from an excellent 2 night stay at the Old Rectory. The hotel is full of charm and a delight to stay in. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly from the booking to the check out. The rooms are tastefully decorated, comfortable and clean. We dined in the restaurant on both evenings and had very enjoyable meals....

We went for a two night stay at the Old Rectory with Groupon and were very pleased we did. This old building is beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable with very friendly staff and tasty food. The location and ambience is of a traditional English country house hotel - splendid surroundings and very quiet. It's not too far from Shrewsbury...

We decided to try the old rectory as we were in shrewsbury over the weekend and what a pleasant and enjoyable stay we had. The room we had was very spacious, luxurious and spotlessly clean, not to mention the beautiful surroundings. If i was to put a minus on anything it would be the small portions of hot food served at breakfast....

My wife and I booked a Saturday and Sunday stay here 11th and 12th of October, on a Groupon offer. This is a lovely old building with loads of character, antique furnishings and a lovely 180 degree staircase. Our twin bedded room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel, with everything we needed. The staff were very...

Just back from a two night Groupon break. We were pleasantly surprised. A beautiful period building, oozing wth character. Our room was lovely, overlooking the garden. The shower was amazing as the water pressure was so good. The staff were helpful and courteous and the food was fantastic...restaurant quality rather than pub grub. We had a day in nearby Shrewsbury...
