Kagetsutei Ryokan was the 2nd stop of a three night excursion in the Izu area, with my family with 2 adult children and a Japanese couple, whom we have been friends with for more than 2 decades. Of the 3 ryokans we stayed in, this was the best, providing impeccable but understated efficient Japanese hospitality . From the traditional welcome , with complimentary mikan wine while viewing the pond and garden , to our tatami room with more than enough room for 4 people, to the onsen baths, indoor and outdoor pools and the kaiseki dinner, with the staff ably assisting throughout the course - this was traditional Japan at its best.
Taking baths in the onsen is usually an intimidating first time experience but our hosts made sure that my wife and children could adjust easily as this was their first time .
The whole ryokan was beautiful and peaceful , a place to meditate and recharge from all the pressures the past year.
I would definitely recommend this ryokan for families and...
