Room clean, tidy, modern. Plenty of parking and it only cost £3 for the night we were there. Breakfast was included in the price and I was happy to see there were “food to go bags” so you could make breakfast rolls or something to take with you. Conveniently right next to a McDonald’s and close to Trafford Centre too. Staff were helpful. Would definitely stay again

This hotel ticks a lot of the boxes, new rooms, free parking and breakfast. The location to visiting with family is also perfect for us. Staff vary from perfunctory (not rude) to really friendly. Comfy beds and we love that there’s a shower stall not a bath/shower combo in the bathroom, which is why this is chosen over many hotels of this standard and price. Consistent stays. Stayed twice at beginning and end of Sept 2019. Can be busy with business stays. Breakfast can vary from quite good to horrendous so to avoid the latter, go early it really is ghastly if your remotely past opening. It gets messy and off putting in hygiene terms. That’s not to say some staff really try hard including some senior staff but its overwhelmed by poor design and limited space given the clientele numbers. If you book early and get a good price then consider staying here. Parking can also be very busy though, the girl at reception was helpful in telling us about the overflow parking. We would certainly consider staying here again.

This was our second stay at this hotel, although we had forgotten the first visit until we arrived and realised we had been there before.
It's a very clean modern hotel with a nice bar area to enjoy a drink. It's also in a good location for both shopping at the Trafford Centre and for sightseeing with a tram stop next door.
Parking costs £3 which I think was very reasonable, the car park was rather full but there was an overflow area next door.
The bedrooms are furnished with comfortable beds (we slept really well), air conditioning, a big TV, a hair dryer, ironing board and enough hanging space. In the compact bathroom there was a good shower with a decent cubicle (most hotels seems to have one that leaks or allows water to go everywhere) and large fluffy towels.
The free breakfast was surprisingly good and included a choice of hot items. Tables are limited but there were a number of staff quickly clearing them to make sure everyone could find somewhere to sit.
Overall it was an excellent place to stay but there were a couple of minor niggles - there were no glasses in the bathroom, I think they had been forgotten because there were paper coasters with nothing on, so we had to drink a bottle of wine from mugs. For hygiene reasons I also think there should have been liners in both bins but, again, I think these may have been forgotten.

Stayed at the hotel as like many others this weekend, we were attending the horror con at bowlers EC.
I had chosen this hotel as it was the nearest but also because the online reviews were brilliant! I’ve come away asking myself did I actually stay in the same place? I understand that there will be busy times but this was ridiculous.

The computer system was down on arrival, so we had to wait around for keys. The front desk was so busy the whole time we were there, it was hard getting the attention of anyone without waiting in yet another queue.

I was locked out of my room twice, the other room my cousin was in with her young son, was entered by another two people claiming it was their room not long after we had arrived.

Then she too was locked out of her room as we tried to get back in later. She received no apology that another person had been given access to her room, it’s lucky she was in there at the time, not everyone is honest and all her stuff was in there.

Weirdly enough my room was also locked when we came back so I started thinking had someone been in my room also? I got asked if my phone had been next to the card a few times. Which it might of been but where shall we keep the door fobs to keep them safe? In my sock or something?

My room was freezing and I couldn’t figure out how to sort out the heating/air con, we had to google it, to figure it out, there were coffee stains on the floor and up the side of the bed which I didn’t notice until I was going to bed.

There was no hand soap in the dispenser in the bathroom and my cousins room’s shower gel dispenser was also empty. Washing your hands properly during a pandemic is vital so I’m sure there should be soap in them.

I was meant to stay for two nights but I come home after one night as there was nothing to stay there for, literally nothing. Couldn’t even get a drink anywhere without driving and we don’t have a car.

We were looking forward to chilling on the Sunday because you offer a restaurant, a bar, and room service. None of which was available. No access or notice to any other facilities.

Breakfast had a decent selection although it was very crowded and the meat eaters have more on offer. Im vegetarian and don’t really like eggs, so it was continental or beans on toast. No other option even though it says there’s special dietary requirements here.

I would say this is just not good enough. There’s no reason we would want to come back and that’s a real shame as it looks like other people who have stayed have, have thoroughly enjoyed their stay.

As a regular Hilton Customer, it was nice to switch things up and stay at a Holiday Inn Express after a while!

This hotel is minutes away from the Trafford Centre which was convenient for work! The staff at the hotel was really friendly on checkin and throughout my stay. I always forget the ‘Express’ chains offer complimentary breakfast and clearly the guests make good use of it!!!

The room was clean and spacious, again cannot fault anything with it being a new hotel - hope it stays that way!

One thing I was disappointed the most was the holding deposit, it’s been years since anyone has asked for deposit even when mentioning will not be having any room service. In my case I have a credit card so easy to deal with however it’s a real stinger for families and couples staying at the hotel. I would love to hear from IHG why this is the case with this particular hotel...

I will definitely book again! 🙂

Great stay. Great room. Great staff. Crowded breakfast but really good service.

One request - Could you PLEASE return my deposit of a 150 Pounds? The front desk manager asked me to put the 150 Pounds on my card for 5 rooms as a special deposit arrangement instead of 250 Pounds and said that it would arrive back in my account within 24 hours of check-out.

It is nearing 96 hours now since check-out and the funds are still reserved. It is seriously affecting me as I have end of month bills to pay.

Can't seem to get hold of them over the phone OR the IHG reservation/query form as it cannot find our confirmation?

Akie

This was my first visit to this hotel although I stay at numerous hotels in this group. As a disabled traveler I quite often come across varying difficulties; this hotel posed none.
The staff, particularly the duty(?) manager, Joanna and her assistant, Rachel were so kind and helpful...nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel was immaculately clean and frequently sanitized... it felt very comfortable to be in.
The disabled-accessible room was a good size and its shower room was equally roomy.
i have no reservations in recommending Trafford City to anyone, disabled or other. I will certainly use Trafford City again in preference to the logistically more convenient Holiday Inn Express Stockport.
A very enjoyable experience. Thank you Joanna and Rachel.

Company booked me in for 4 night stay paying £193/ night and I got dumped in a disabled room with tiny twin beds and a chair in the shower. I asked to move as had not booked a disabled room they said they were full and because the company didn’t specify a double room I was shoved in the disabled room. I expect better will be advising the company to stop booking holiday inn hotels.

Having just arrived back home, we though we would write a quick review of this great hotel, on arrival at the hotel you will be impressed with the cleanliness of the lobby ( especially the newly polished floor ) the staff are all fantastic, special mention to Dan who had a good chat with us and helped us book another night, as we were enjoying our time away. People may not be happy about the £50 deposit that you have to pay, however the hotel benefits as no damages and looks fantastic. Even though at the time of our visit the restaurant was not open there is a Farmhouse inn next door where you can get fed and watered. Again a great hotel in an ideal position for the Trafford centre.

First the good bits: the staff were very polite and helpful. Anything we needed was provided quickly and pleasantly when we asked for them.

Now what could be better:
there was only one hale used toilet roll in our room, despite there being a place for another one, we had to ask for another; there was no soap in the body wash dispenser in the shower (only discovered once I’d begun showering); the cutlery kept running out during breakfast, I’d have a fork but no knife. They were replenished eventually.

For the price of £189 for one night, I feel at the least our room should have been properly supplied with soap and toilet roll.

This has not gone unnoticed and with me inviting our head housekeeping to an investigation meeting of why this was not completed.
