At El Castillo we felt very welcome right from our arrival. Everybody was very kind and helpful and made our stay very pleasant. We enjoyed our comfortable and luxury room, the fabulous pool and of course the breathtaking view over the Costa Rican Pacific coast
What an amazing hotel and experience. We spent 3 nights here and would have stayed more if we weren’t meeting friends in another town. The absolute best part of El Castillo is the people. The level of service they strive for is impeccable and they exceed it at every turn. LUIS and STEPHEN are my 2 favorite people on the planet now. They are kind, earnest and personable. Any request we had they made sure to fulfill. Learning it was my birthday they surprised me with dessert and a round of “Happy Birthday to You!” They enjoyed practicing their English, though it was excellent, and helped us brush up on Spanish words. We will miss them immensely and hope you will tell them hi when you stay here! Rebecca is the manager and she is also fantastic. She offered help with tours, transportation and recommendations. She is very professional and a huge asset to the hotel. The rest of the staff is also friendly, helpful and professional but I was not able to catch every name. And Charlie the iguana-like reptile who hangs out by the pool is who I want to be in my next life. :) The hotel itself is beautiful. Fantastic views of the ocean and the river that empties into it. You can see the tides change and the river go out into the sea all day come back all day so the landscape changes. The furnishings are so tastefully done and make you feel comfortable and right at home. We loved sitting in a number of spots around the main house and just enjoying the view and conversation with our friends. We stayed in the spa suites and loved the privacy. They were decorated in a more modern style but still our rooms felt cozy. I definitely recommend staying in both of these suites if you are traveling with another couple. The food was excellent. We ate dinner here 2 nights. We especially loved the breakfast every morning. I don’t think it gets better than coffee overlooking the ocean and pool.…
We stopped there for one night on our drive to Drake Bay. It's a really exquisite and small hotel. I think it has only nine rooms. We got a free room upgrade to a suite. The suite was big and luxurious. We arrived just before sunset, the view from the pool is absolutely incredible. We sat on the terrace with our welcome drink and enjoyed the sunset for almost an hour. We also had dinner there and the food was very delicious. If you come by this place in Costa Rica, we recommend it without any hesitation. You should stay there for more than one night, to enjoy it even more.
We stayed there (unfortunately) only for a night but we fell in love with the spectacular views, our beautiful and spacious room and the friendly staff that made us feel like home from the first minute. Will definitely come back.
Absolutely a hidden gem! The views, the genuine team, the beautiful rooms 😍. We can recommend it to the fullest! Thank you to the wonderful team making our stay so special! Breakfast was also nice and coffee very delicious :)
The stuff is extremely friendly, the food is outstanding and the hotel itself is great I will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who is getting to the region We stood for three nights and where more than happy with our choice
Simply outstanding service. Ratio of employee to guest 1:1. From the moment we arrived till we left we were treated like royalty. Beautiful location looking out to expansive Pacific Ocean. Highly recommend.
Just the two of us... no other couples. We needed to get away from had a delightful, restful, refreshing visit made even more special by the wonderful staff and amenities at El Castillo. We enjoyed comfortable accommodations and all the amenities available at large resorts. The staff was solicitous, but never overly so. One evening during the middle of our stay we went to a restaurant in Ojochal highly recommended by numerous review sources, where the food was, indeed, superb. We found, however, that our dining experiences at Castillo's Kitchen were every bit as satisfying. The El Castillo staff offered suggestions for a number of activity options, although we didn't have them book anything for us. The weather during our week there was highly unpredictable, so we drove to various locations and engaged in spontaneous activities when the weather was right. We will return to beautiful El Castillo and highly recommend it to others visiting the southern Pacific shore of Costa Rica. Absolutely Pura Vida!!!…
Stayed here for a week during our first ever visit to Costa Rica. I cannot find anything bad to say about this hotel. The staff were beyond helpful in every way. Luis, Steven, and Kelly and the rest of the gang made sure that every need we had was met, but what was really special was just how at home they made us feel. The breakfast every morning was fresh and tasty, the drinks from the bar were always crafted with love, and the view is just exquisite. We also had dinner there and both times it was yummy. The kayaking excursion they booked for us was with a smaller local company which turned out to be fantastic because the tour guide afterwards kept the fun going as he offered to show us around the more local side of the sites, including a pretty waterfall and a fresh caught fish restaurant (tilapias Al pavon, also highly recommended). If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area, you simply cannot do better than the fine folks at El Castillo. I cannot say enough about how perfect they made our trip.…
The location, views and service are excellent> Had a wonderful time and highly recommend the hotel to rest and disconnect yourself from everyday stress. The attention to detail in decor and service reflect the good management of the property by its GM Rebecca Villalobos and its staff.
