Sekitei was an incomparable experience. I stayed here for 2 nights very recently, after proposing to my then-girlfriend, and I could not have imagined up a more romantic experience. The staff were phenomenal, the food was phenomenal, and the entire experience felt so authentic and personal. Our room was the Oimatsu room, which had an excellent view of the courtyard...

Sekitei is most probably one of the nicest Ryokans you can stay. It was built in the 60ties and it is still full of original Scandinavian furniture. The room we had was stunning, we even had a private bath on the second floor of our room, the design of this place including the garden is wonderful. Dinner is served in...

Words almost do not do justice to the sublime nature of this property and the staff. This place is amazing in every respect. The rooms are superb with private bathtubs, views of the garden and islands. We stayed for 1 night and enjoyed the upgraded meal, which was nothing short of amazing. It is something truly memorable and to be...

The best ryokan so far, and will return in the future. Only 12 unique rooms, build with top Japanese standard, mostly with wood. e.g. You will experience the unique flexible window designed to block sun light. Public bath is also exceptional, due to the limited number of guest. I upgraded my meal with additional JPY 5,000 and it is a...

My family of 4 stayed here for the night. My family have been going to multiple ryokans at least once a year so my expectations were extremely high. Everything was exceptional. From the moment we entered this urban sanctuary, you can feel the warmth and a sense of appreciation from the staff alongside with their strive to create a wonderful...

My wife and I stayed two days. This place is amazing in every respect. The rooms are superb, the service is incredibly thoughtful and responsive, and the garden is a delight. Our meals were as good as the ones we had at Michelin three star restaurants in Kyoto. There is simply nothing about this place that is luxurious and well...

First of all I must say that staying at Sekitei was an absolute pleasure. It was part of a longer trip that we made from Tokyo across Japan ending up in Seoul, South Korea. I was a little bit apprehensive about booking Sekitei as some of the reviews were old and it seemed like a little bit of a mission...

I'm still pinching myself that we got to stay here! The traditional style hotel itself is gorgeous. We enjoyed traditional Japanese food & the outdoor onsen was a wonderful experience with the cherry blossom tree in full bloom hanging over us. Magic! I couldn't wait to spend time in the tranquil Japanese garden. The pond was full of colourful koi...

Our stay at Sekitei was an unforgettable experience and exceeded our expectations by far. The ryokan has a beautiful Japanese garden and the whole complex is very serene and peaceful. We were welcomed as if we were regular customers and offered delicious iced green tea in the lounge. When we were taken to our room our suitcases were there already,...
