La Marette is one of those typical French renovated farms. Very charming. It is located less than 15 minutes drive to the beach. Catherine and Regis were very helpful all along our stay and shared with us nice recommendations. Bed was comfortable, Spa relaxing (jacuzzi, steam room and sauna with Eucalyptus oil), pool perfect for a morning swim and the best was having a perfect homemade breakfast before heading the road - first time we've experienced such a tasty French breakfast while staying in a guesthouse. Thank you, we will definitely be back!!
This is our fourth trip to La Marette. We are a family with two small children (5 and 2) and the location is perfect as it is in easy reach of St Malo, Caen and Le Havre. Catherine and Regis are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about local activities and have plenty of ideas of how to make your stay enjoyable. We stayed in Vent d'Ouest this time, a lovely one bedroomed gite, well equipped and very comfortable. The children adored the garden : trampoline, swings, slide, ride on toys, a little house and their favourite ... the chickens! We spent many an hour relaxing on the comfortable hanging sun loungers while the children enjoyed the garden. We regularly made use of the heated swimming pool and the quiet roads surrounding La Marette were great for racing around on scooters. This year we discovered some new beaches (there are several to choose from) and returned to some old favourites (La Fraiserie - for delicious ice creams and Planete Sauvage). It was a wonderful holiday and we would thoroughly recommend La Marette to everyone. …
Week with family. Absolutely lovely hosts and location. Highly recommend. We met some lovely people and had a lovely stay. We made use of spa and massage which was lovely. For a family trip loads to do and great location.
Lovely bed and breakfast in beautiful surroundings. We stayed here for a week and were warmly welcomed by the hosts. There were 6 us and we had our own converted barn with fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, living space and 3 bedrooms. There's an outdoor pool, indoor hot tub and hammam. They also have offer massages from local massage therapists, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The buildings were decorated in a contemporary style with great finishings. It's about 6 miles from Pornic in really peaceful surroundings. Highly recommend for a relaxing break.
this chambre d'hotes is in the countryside, 15' away from Pornic; in a peaceful location and with a very helpful landlady. The Indian room was jusr next to the dining room open to all guests for their own food
We have just returned from what must be the best holiday in a long time. Pornic is a hidden gem of a location and La Marette is a great destination. By taking the Portsmouth – St Malo ferry you arrive fresh in the morning (after the excitement of sleeping on the ferry) and La Marette is a very easy couple of hour drive on fast roads which do not require tolls (what novelty in France!). For the return trip, we went to Caen which although a little further, was a very manageable drive to catch a late afternoon ferry. We stayed in the gite Charme – fully equipped with the high chair, bath and cot provided for no extra cost. La Marette is located in a quiet hamlet with the excitement of the odd tractor which passes and the cows in the field. The garden is large with trampoline, a slide, a playhouse, ride-on toys, a football goal and a chicken house! My son was very happy running around in the garden and we were able to supervise him from the terrace while finishing a whole cup of tea! What a novelty! As the roads are so quiet, my son could use his scooter in the country lanes to see the animals in the fields and we regularly went on walks as a family. Pornic itself is a pretty town – we went on the tourist train, went to the local playgrounds (our favourite was a newly built one near the Chateau), had an ice cream at the strawberry shop and visited the local beaches – to collect shells and build sandcastles. What was amazing was that we didn’t have to spend lots of money to have fun – my son and daughter were often happy playing in the garden and we often used the small covered swimming pool in the grounds which is for guests during the day. A special mention must be made to Catherine and Regis who do everything possible to make your trip memorable. They know a lot about the local area and can give you ideas as to where to go and what to do so that your trip is tailored to your family’s needs and tastes. A fantastic holiday – we will remember this holiday for years to come and I suspect we will be booking to go back again next year!…
A grassy deal of thought has gone into creating this lovely accommodation. It's in a peaceful location and Catherine the owner is lovely. Cookies and orange juice when we arrived and lots of help with any queries . This is ideal for couples or families .Highly recommended.
This is our second trip to La Marette and again it was fantastic. We stayed in Vent d'Ouest which is a charming room/gite with everything you need for your stay. The welcome was warm, the breakfasts are still the best we have had in France (with homemade jams and homemade breads/cakes), the gite was spotless and the garden was great for our 3 year old. Catherine is really the ideal host and this is really a gem of a retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our second trip to La Marette and will be planning a third soon!
La Marette is a charming little collective of gite/B & B accommodation run by a delightful family, that has clearly worked very hard to renovate their grounds into holiday lets. The location is about 30mins from Nantes Airport and only 10mins from the charming port of Pornic. We also drove 30mins to La Baule without difficulty. We spent three nights in the superior suite, which is more like a one bedroom flat. As a family of 4, the girls occupied the twin beds in the bedroom while we slept in the very comfortable sofa bed. Everything was clean and tastefully presented. The kitchenette was compact but perfectly adequate - whilst the shower was quite luxurious! Our girls enjoyed visiting the chickens and spending time in the small swimming pool (The jacuzzi/sauna looked tempting but we ran out of time to try it!) The garden area is well kept and privacy is subtly provided by adding rush mating to the patio/outside dining space that comes with the property. We ate breakfast in the main house, which varied slightly every day. Tourist info, attraction tickets and free wi-fi were also available here. Overall a very enjoyable stay.…
We have just spent 3 days at la Marette, a good base for exploring the locality. Catherine welcomed us warmly and was very knowledgable about the area. She spoilt us each morning with home made cakes to go with our traditional french breakfast-delicious! Our room (Plume d'Ange) was very spacious, with a large bathroom (no bath but an amazing shower/wet room). Our terrace just outside was a peaceful place to sit and relax. An excellent place for couples and/or families wanting a comfortable and convenient base from which to explore this interesting part of Brittany, and so easy to reach from the channel ports too.
