The room and the view were very good but the place needs so much TLC! The 4 stars are for all the facilities they have, but not for how they are maintained. It is such a shame, it really could be a very impressive place. The restaurant food was very good and the service friendly. Either the management or the ownership needs to change and bring this place to its 4 star status. The terrace and windows of our room have not been cleaned in ages and there was bird poop all over, bugs and spider webs! Mold in the tile of the bathroom. There is peeling paint and mold all over, there is no lawn, just weeds cut down. The reviews are mixed, some people expectations are very low for these prices. I no longer leave many reviews as there is so much information already, but when they are all over the place and I feel they are not realistic, I put my 2 cents. Splurging for luxury didn’t pan out, but I would say is not a bad place.…
The positive side of this hotel is that it is in great location from which you can do lovely walks along the coastline into the small town called Pornic. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful. The Thalasso aquatic area is good but does get busy at certain times. Although I didn't try them, there is a good gym and spa treatment area. Staff in the spa are welcoming and helpful. Our room was a Junior suite with sea view. Room 411. Nice and spacious with lots of cupboard space and a large bathroom which is unfortunately only half renovated. The downside of this hotel is that although the food in La Source restaurant is very good, you have the impression that you are eating in a canteen. Very noisy. Don’t count on a romantic evening! The Monday buffet of local produce is very good. However, if you opt for a meal from the a la Carte menu, beware, the prices are very high for a very small quantity. No value for money. The choice for breakfast is very good, but again, you can’t eat in tranquility due to the noise and clatter. Our junior suite was good, with a view of the sea from a distance. It was disappointing that the terrace had not been cleaned for months, with weeds growing in-between the wooden slats, not to mention all the very dirty cobwebs everywhere. The terrace has two lounger chairs with footrests (with small holes in them) and no side table. The design of the bedroom itself left a lot to be desired – very good bedding but the light switches are right behind the mattress, so the lights switch on with the slightest movement. The large flat screen television is too low to watch in bed. In addition, the bathroom, although spacious has a bath with a simple shower head and cable over it. The grouting is old and not at all renovated. Also, there is a large window separating the bedroom and bathroom with simple venetian blinds for “privacy”, but this does not stop light from flowing into the bedroom at night. The double curtains on all bay windows are far too small and hence light from outside comes into the bedroom at all hours. The real negative part of this room (and to my knowledge all rooms) is that there is no air conditioning. A feeble fan is provided that simply blows the hot air about. This hotel is not paying enough attention to detail but seems to be more interested in encouraging it’s elderly clients to spend on their very expensive spa treatments. Despite the above criticism, the hotel is good and I will return if the occasion arises.…
On our way to the south of France my wife and I took a detour to Pornic. I visited Pornic over 30 years ago and, although still young at that time, always had good memories about this small town. We searched for a place to stay whilst driving there and this hotel was one of the few places available! Friendly people at reception who all spoke English. Rooms were spacious, light, very clean and we had a nice and big bed. Slept like a baby! We ended up eating in the restaurant and that was a good pick! My wife had the sea bass as her main course which was truly stunning. We had a table by the window and the whole setting was a blast! Good service, nice bottle of wine. We also had the breakfast the next day! Loads of things to pick from and again seated at the window overlooking the incoming waves! I will probably need to come back again! Not the cheapest but not a moment of regret! Only downside is that the rooms lack AC.…
I have been on several spa weeks in Europe, changing the destination each time in search of the perfect place where everything comes together : Location, hotel amenities (staff and restaurants), service and of course the quality of the spa treatments themselves. I think with Hotel Alliance in Pornic I have found the place. My week was perfect and just what I needed! Room : Large, bright and modern room on to wide terrace with sea view. Restaurants : Choice of 3 and all excellent. Wonderful breakfast buffet with stunning sea views. Friendly, efficient staff. Special mention for the head lady at breakfast. and also for Nicolas at the Bio/Ayurveda Terrace restaurant. NB. Must reserve early to avoid disappointment as places are limited. Hotel staff : Practically every experience was positive. Helpful, friendly and efficient Amenities : right on beach for swimming and cliff walks and easy walk into picturesque and animated fishing village. Regular fitness or aquagym sessions available with professional staff. Spa treatments : Simply wonderful. Premises, cleanliness, efficiency and latest state of the art treatments available. Very professional. Special mention for NoIwenn and her massages. I have been to other spas where I have felt as if on a factory belt but a personal welcome and friendly tone, even if they repeat the same phrase to everyone, makes all the difference. And it seems as if the direction and staff at Alliance Pornic have understood that. Keep up the good work! Suggestion : Make toilets on floor level 0 unisex as often waits for the ladies when you only have a few minutes between treatments.…
The hotel is situated on the beach and the view is splendid. The food is really good and there's a 'table the hôtes'perfect if your on your own , i've met so many people and the discussions and the fun was great! The wednesday evening seagood buffet was super! The staff wich are all in uniform is very friendly and they are all very proffesional. And it is very clean, wil sure to go back.
As you approach this hotel you know it's going to have fabulous views. Pornic itself is a rather unspoiled part of France where natives holiday so there are relatively few British tourists, if this is something that you like it is a wonderful place to holiday. Booking a room gives you access to the spa pool which was great - an early start will give you the best sunbeds available!
The hotel is old tired with no air conditioning. Staff aren't very pleasant more so to foreigners, and I speak French. Check in is not until 16hours which is ridiculous. Wifi doesn't work. Breakfast was ok
My husband and I have come to this special place 5 times and are planning our 6th trip next week! The first time we came was a few months after we had met.....I was very nervous since my then boyfriend asked his mother to join us one evening for dinner so he could introduce us..... we enjoyed the delicious sea food buffet and the kind staff made me feel less nervous on such a special occasion. We ended up spending a perfect romantic week........and then we decided to get married and have a baby!!! That's how relaxed, well fed and happy we felt by the end of that trip! The year after we returned with our baby daughter and enjoyed the New Mother Package which was very much appreciated. The lovely woman I met during our last trip was now my new mother in law and she joined us in order to meet our baby girl....her first and only grandchild. We left that trip feeling even better than the first trip! The next time we came back to what we now began to call our SPECIAL place, our little girl was a few years old and we used the NANNY SERVICE which was very well organized in order for my husband and I to enjoy the MASSAGES OF THE WORLD PACKAGE. My little girl was old enough to be very excited to finally meet her grandmother. What a wonderful family time we had! The fourth time we flew to France my little girl was in school so we decided to make it a romantic couple escape and try the HEALTHY BACK PACKAGE.... it was excellent! As usual, we were treated by a special visit by my mother in law who joined us for the absolutely delicious meals and brought gifts for us to take back to Canada for her little granddaughter. The fifth visit was just last year this time in May. As usual all was great as far as the Spa was concerned. In addition to the wonderful food and pool and treatments there was our special visitor who joined us. She drove up as usual.....when she left....there were kisses and hugs good by ..... later on that evening a call from an officer was received saying that she had passed away in her sleep after she left...The staff was very kind and helpful........next week we will go back...we decided to keep this little family tradition going and in our hearts know that she will find a way to come join us too.....thank you for the kindness and professionalism of your team and for helping us build lasting memories for our family. Merci!…
We stayed 4 days - 3 nights - with my Mother. That wasn't enough to explore all the facilities this place has to offer. The spa is big with many different options and most are accessible as part of staying in the hotel. Treatments are pleasant and hopefully efficient Staff (hotel, spa, restaurants) are friendly and attentive. Rooms are reasonably large, comfortable and well kept. A special mention to the Chef and his team: from breakfast to dinner, the cuisine is one more reason to come back.
The location of this hotel right beside the sea is sublime espcially when it is a blue skied balmy evening. This restaurant is not cheap and the portion sizes are quite small but the execution and overall taste is sublime. Three main courses of wonderfully fresh fish and wonderful sides and the most amazing desserts made this a fabulous experience coupled with the most rewarding sea views. Afterwards we went upstairs to their bar which has fantastic panoramic views of the sea and while listening to an excellent duo sing a selection of rock, blues and jazz we downed some amazing cocktails (alcohol and non). Would defintely return.
