Just back from a two night stay at the lodge. A friend and myself flew over from the Isle of Man to watch a game at Old Trafford, and looked the perfect location for our stay, as we wanted to have a night out in Sale also. Have to say ...a thoroughly great stay! Rooms spotless, staff really friendly and location was perfect for access to trains/town. We sat in the bar both evenings..really nice atmosphere, good drinks at a good price. Will definitely be staying there again when we're next over.

Booked direct with the hotel website for two nights. Superior Double Room. That was at £75 per night from memory ( maybe it was 77.50) but with a reduction to £60 if booked now , which I did. ( Breakfast is additional) I received an invoice via email but must admit to not taking much notice of it. When booking in and paying for the room it was £155 for the two night (£77.50 per night ) I have admit I forgot the price I thought I booked it for but later on looking at their website I remembered that if should have been £60 as this was still being offered on their website for rooms. My fault I guess for not checking. So onto our stay. Easy access, plenty free car parking. Friendly welcome , busy little bar. Our room was room one. Rear of the building. As soon as we entered the room it smelled of damp. Like wet plaster. Their website states there had been refurbishment but our room was dated and tired. My wife also found some cobwebs one of which was around a wall light and also had a dead Daddy long legs within it. It was a dusty cobweb so not a recent thing. We were in a hurry to go straight out so did not mention anything until after breakfast. I paid for a full english and my just the continental. The continental was poor in that there was only fruit juice and cereal on the table. However, the Manageress/landlady was very pleasant and asked my wife if she would like something warm like egg and toast. so she ordered poached egg on toast. My breakfast seemed to be cooked to order as it was piping hot and fresh. So no complaints at all over that. However, we took the opportunity to mention about the smell in the room and the cobweb insect. She said ; regarding the smell; "not again, we had the roof fixed and so it sounds like we will have to get it sorted again." ( Looking at the damage and stains around the ceiling coving and bathroom ceiling it looks like an old problem ) Apologised about the cobweb and would speak to someone about it. On return to the room later in the day, the window was open , the room smell had improved slightly as disinfectant on sprays had been used. The said cobweb and insect removed but a couple other webs remained. I found the staff friendly enough and obliging. We did not eat an evening meal but it seemed to be popular. We did have a drink with our friends who live close by who had not been in for years. They said they would probably call in a agin for quiet drink.

I was looking for a restaurant that could cater for a group of 20 for Sunday Lunch and it was suggested I try the Esdkale Lodge. There was absolutely no problem with them catering for this many people. The chef was brilliant and was happy to provide a tailored meal for my elderly father who is coelic (can't eat gluten). The staff were all really friendly and attentive, checking how long we'd like between courses and so on. Food was spot on too.

Room is fine bit dated, but clean enough. Nice shower and toilet. Food is nice, and hot. I would recommend a hairdryer in the room, but apart from that a good stopover for the Airport. Would definitely use again.

We were very well looked after Food - excellent - everything is cooked from fresh and the chef will happily accommodate all dietary requirements Wine - good quality and choice Double room - small however very clean and well equipped: - hand wash and lotion - ample towels - tissues - tea/coffee with biscuits - cotton wool in bathroom - dressing table - plenty of power sockets - bathroom recently refurbished to high standard I highly recommend this hotel - lovely hosts and good value for money

The room was a good size and offered tea and coffee making. The bed was comfy enough and there was free parking. However other than that unfortunately we're unable to be positive on this occasion as we felt really disappointed and didn't feel the room or breakfast was value for money. It was a very tired room and some of the furniture was very shabby. The mattress had a stain on the side. The bathroom was mouldy and had a damp smell. There was a used soap and wrapper from the previous occupant on the bath leading us to wonder if it had been cleaned prior to us occupying. Breakfast was very disappointing. We found the website misleading as there was no fruit salad or yoghurts offered and we were brought something completely different from what was ordered. Toast was cold and we weren't able to get a glass of fruit juice each as the jug was left empty. It was difficult to find staff to talk to but when we did eventually do so at breakfast they were quite miserable and we didn't feel welcome. The bedroom was single glazed on a main road and so the traffic was noisy. Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend at this time.

I booked this place as it was close enough for me to get to the Metrolink at Brooklands and then on to the Marathon. Very friendly landlady, sorted out a runner's breakfast for me and nothing seemed too much trouble. Room was large and comfortable. I wasn't planning on eating there. However the specials board had some pasta and the place was busy with locals quite a few having meal. Very glad I did.. the steak penne was excellent. Great value stay.

Ideal for my short football related visit, room was large and clean, bed was comfy. Decor was perhaps a little tired but certainly in acceptable condition for price paid. Location is about 10 mins walk to trams, so handy to get in and out of the city.

Went for award winning meal. Very disappointed. Staff pointed at door to turn handle when entering then walked of. Never been before so didn’t know where to go, walked around till we asked staff where to sit.Asked for vegetarian meatless dinner. Waitress then asked didn’t I want the veg risotto ! I got a plate of veg was very fresh and tasty drowned in gravy. Very disappointed 😔 No welcome. Place lacked atmosphere. No award for that meal. Live local and enjoy supporting local businesses but wouldn’t go again.
