Stayed one night whilst walking the trail. The first day of the trail was a very steep ascent and descent so it was great that the they came and picked us up when I could not manage the last bit.Great food for both dinner and breakfast with the bonus of a onsen in the grounds.Charming and helpful family who do everything...

After a pleasant day's walk from Takijiri along the Nakahechi track on the Kumano Kodo we arrived at this comfortable retreat. It has a peaceful riverside location facing beautiful trees in autumn colours and a relaxing onsen. The hosts were exceptional in their attention and care for weary walkers. The dinner was undoubtedly the best Japanese meal we had; the...

I was expecting a family home, and no doubt it is, but is more like a cross between a family home and a hotel. There are several japanese bedrooms, a dining room, a tea room and separate onsen only a few steps away from the main building. I was with a tour otherwise it might be a bit difficult to...

Small but nice rooms. Onsen in separate building which is not supernice and doesn't seem very clean. Also not available in the morning. Dinner was ok but i don't agree with all good comments on TripAdvisor - just ordinary. And breakfast was a disappointment. Just some fruit and a little bread. Not to speak of the lunchbox - two pieces...

Beautiful family-run Minshuku on the river. Stopped in here while hiking the Kumano-Kodo trail from Tanabe and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location by the river is lovely. The place is simple, but tidy and clean, and the baths are very enjoyable. The family is lovely and cooked a splendid dinner and offered us much advice on our next day's hike...

My boyfriend and I stayed here after a day of hiking on the Kumano Kodo trail. The room was reserved for us by the company that arranged the hike, but we were very happy to stay here. It appears to be a small family-run place (operated by a man & wife, and their son & daughter-in-law) that felt like a...

No aircon, but not a big issue We wanted to go to the onsen, it was not nearby, they offered to give us a lift there, so kind ! For those who do the kumano trail, this...

The room was excellent and so was the onsen. Since I was the only female staying there the night, I had the onsen to myself and it was heavenly. The food was the high-point of my stay here. As one of the other travelers mentioned, they put soft tofu in boiling water along with fresh mushrooms, noodles and chicken and...
