This hotel is impeccable in its service and cleanliness. The nightly onsen was so nice after a long day and the rooms are pretty big. For a solo traveller, I had the luxury of a huge room with two super single bed. If you're looking for a quiet place, this hotel is what you need.

It was a wonderful stay, the Japanese garden of the hotel was so beautiful and the hotel was so quiet. The hot spa was not too hot but it was confort. The dinner and breakfirst both were tremdous, we could enjoy Yamagata foods. Fabrous hotel for sure! こちらのホテルは、正面玄関から入ると中庭がドーンとみえ、その日本庭園の素晴らしさに圧倒されます。鯉も泳いでおり、中庭を散策するのも良いでしょう。湯質もよくかつ、熱すぎないため、ゆっくりと浸かることができます。ホスピタリティも素晴らしく、オススメの一軒です。

Beautiful ryokan in Tendo with excellent staff and big rooms with either beds or futons overlooking a Japanese garden. The ryokan came to pick us up at the station and greeted us with wonderful tea and sakura mochi cakes. The onsen baths are spacious and there was an outside bath as well. Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet with many choices. You can even cook your own egg in the hot springs. A great mixture of traditional Japanese and modern aesthetic Japanese with a few Western touches. I highly recommend Tsuruya if you are visiting Yamagata or Yamadera.
