Travellers' Choice
At Castaway Resort the spirit of ‘The Beach’ is brought to life. Amid the beautiful setting nature has given Koh Lipe, our spacious wooden bungalows and large chill out deck overlooking the beach definitely make Castaway the most atmospheric of Koh Lipe’s resorts.

Before coming to Castaway the communication was fairly good I have to say. Also the place looks really nice. But that’s it. I always woke up at 6; because part of the bungalows are with glass which you cannot cover and you get light into your room. The blinds look fancy but very, very cumbersome; no idea how it works till now. The lights in room are kind of inexistent; it was very very dark and it’s very hard to find anything in the dark, at least for me given I’m not a bat. The food was good but a bit pricy (so if one doesn’t want; no need to buy - free world). The check out is at, wait for it, 10:30 am. I think I travelled to 40+ countries and many places in Thailand but haven’t seen a 10:30 checkout (maybe it exists, but I haven’t seen it). We asked kindly if we could extend for one hour; but the hotel said the rooms are fully booked. After my friend insisted the hotel said if we pay for one more night we can extend the check out for an hour. So in the first place they didn’t tell us the truth about the rooms being fully booked. And the more interesting or rather annoying part is they just partially cleaned out rooms so technically without any problem we could have stayed for an additional hour so we could have a last swim and shower before leaving the island. I think a bit flexibility is part of this game - we hadn’t asked for a 4 hour long extension. But it is what it is.

I stayed here for three nights and while the four beachfront bungalows were booked (and quite expensive) I stayed at the reasonably priced garden bungalows. Very reasonable priced and very nice inside. No wifi in bungalow (only at beach restaurant) and not aircon or even hot water. Still, I enjoyed it here and can highly recommend it. Very helpful staff and nice restaurant.

We spent 6 days here to get PADI scuba certified. Divemaster Chris was absolutely fantastic--great at presenting information and making us all feel safe and secure under challenging circumstances. The resort itself was great--lots of character and very eco-friendly--although my wife and I moved elsewhere after 2 warm nights to get air conditioned rooms. Our 2 teenagers stayed, feeling that Castaway was super-cool and non minding the warmth.. .

After travelling around the Trang Islands for 2 weeks in low/covid Season, Castaway was a little slice of paradise for my family. The bungalows are very basic (cold water and fan only) but they are spotlessly clean and in beautifully maintained grounds right next to the beach. Watching the spectacular sunrises from our bed was something special. There are also multiple places to chill and sit (something that we have found lacking in many resorts in Thailand). I'm now a hammock convert! In short, if you want a simple and relaxed stay, I can't recommend Castaway enough 😊
