Firstly, I want to comment on the check out time , it shown clearly on Agoda website was 12 noon but when you check in, they instruct you it's 10am. Felt so cheated. It's alright that there is no TV in the room, but WiFi is not as strong as you would expected it to be, at times it dropped off totally for 10 to 15 mins. Breakfast are simple with toast and egg. Environment is quiet and peaceful although the exterior grass patch is not well maintained. The interior of the bungalow is cosy. From walking street walk in is approx 15 to 20 mins. Night time the street towards the stay are dark.
Lovely spot within walking distance to Sunset Beach and some fantastic restaurants. Amazing snorkeling in front of the resort. Breakfast is meh compared to other resorts that offer it, but fine. everything is within walking distance from the resort, even the busy side of things. Fun island to spend a few days at.... but no more.
Our second visit in Longbay this year. Koh Lipe is beautiful especially during low season. Rooms here are big, clean and well equipped. (Only what I am missing is fan on the terrace). I would also put more effort for breakfast. Most important is staff. They are amazing, super friendly and helpful. I would like to thank Chai. He prepared great seafood bbq for us and we had an incredible night. Ladies there help too and all are great company. Thank you guys and see you very soon. Lukas and Lyn
Very spacious and nicely furnished room, great location, comfy bed, friendly and helpful staff. We come to Koh Lipe a few times a year and it looks like Longbay will be our new favorite home away from home.
I was staying in langkawi Malaysia for 2 weeks and got advized by friends to visit the island of kolipe. so I booked one of these bungalows from Friday to sunday. I arrived before noon and was able to check in there and then. I was given one of the bottom floor ones. A/C in the bedroom and a fan at the entrance. Bathroom was quite big with great shower. It also had a nice patio to the front. You were only a minutes walk from the beach and sea. Roughly a 10 minute walk to WALKING STREET which was pretty busy with restaurants shops etc and Pattaya beach at the bottom. Sleep quality at the bungalows was ok, its pretty quiet there. I do believe the restaurant had not long opened, so breakfast wasn't bad. Fruit and loads of toast, also omelettes to order. Just a slight drawback there was a slight communication problem but we got there in the end, also checkin out you need to pay cash as the wifi doesn't work there so the card machine is obsolete. But a great place to spend a couple of nights or more…
This was a fabulous choice. Nestled between Sunset and Sunrise Beaches you can have the best of both worlds without the crowds. You have your little beach a few steps down from the property, and both beaches mentioned above can be reached by sea, walking around the rocks, or you can walk 3 minutes around and between the trees. There are mats in sunset beach and drinks on sale, but you will always have someone in your picture :) Long Bay Bungalows are spacious, modern and clean, bed is super confy. Each bungalow has a large balcony with enough space between each other for some privacy. You can hear people speaking if they speak loudly, otherwise, it is pretty quiet. Breakfast always had plenty of fruit, tea and coffee. You could order free eggs or omelette and toast. And staff was super generous with water and fruit. Each person we interacted with was lovely and friendly, super kind and always smiling. Even with limited English they were always happy to help us with whatever we needed. Internet as expected was a bit of a hit and miss but for those who need you can get a local SIM to use for work and these work great in the islands (DTAC has 4G coverage in most islands and a 500 Baht ($15/£11) - 18GB sim lasted for almost a month - I used it sometimes to sync Dropbox and conference calls). All in all highly recommended!!!…
We stayed in a bungalow at the Longbay Lipe resort for 4 nights in March 2017 and it was the best accommodation solution for us. This resort is very simple and new building, situated in a peaceful place surrounded from trees. Few bungalow, each with 1 room on the top and 1 room on the floor with private bathroom. The room was very clean, king size bed with mosquito net and a huge bathroom with amenities, towels and warm water. Very important in Thailand: the flush of wc is very energic so you can put the papertoilet inside :) The beach is very small but with low tide you can reach from there in 1 minute sunset beach and 1 Minute by walk the beginning of sunrise beach (in our opinion the best one between the 3 beaches of Ko Lipe). If there isn't low tide, you can reach the 2 beaches in 5-10 Minutes by walk from the street. From this resort it is very easy to reach the walking street as well, 10-15 minutes by walk or less than 5 minute by tuk tuk. The staff is very very very kind, every time they meet you they make sure you have enough water bottles and offer you delicious fresh fruits (watermelon, pineapple or mango). The breakfast is very simple but very good: eggs omelette or fried egg, mango/pineapple/watermelon , hot tea, instant coffee or cacao, water. Just a couple of low point: no air-conditioner in the room only the fans and sometimes bugs reach the bathroom from the tubes. If we will return to Koh Lipe, we certainly would stay again at the Longbay Lipe bungalow resort!…
I do really really want to give negative scores for Longbay, but I can not. I would recommend you to live, if you want to take ten life for disappointed. Yes, I have a very poor experience in this such a bird stuff. (Please be patient to see all below) 1, I try to communicate with them on booking.com. But they did NOT answer my question or even did NOT reply to me, sincerity is very inadequate. 2, they said the sea breeze, so the room has no air-conditioning is fine. But they did not say, when you open the window or the door, you are ready to be a dinner of mosquito and insects. So you can choose to enjoy the heat, or sea breeze blowing, but with the whole body bites. 3, the location is far way the walking street and it is not convenient, so it is not recommended. But next to the hotel is a small beach. In the afternoon you can enjoy planting. 4, the price does not reflect the value, you can have a better choice! 5, breakfast is fried eggs and toast, fruit and coffee, etc., the service is good, breakfast with the sea breeze, this is good! 6, the information on the network error, check out time on the web is 11:00am, but the hotel said that should be 10:00! 7, the information on the network error, the room size is not 70 square meters big! 8, no boiling kettle and hair dryer, please prepare by yourself. 9, the light is not bright enough, too dark at night, so the eyes are uncomfortable 10, the room has cockroaches, spiders, insects appear often. 11, the network is very poor !! Use your own is faster then theirs! **** 12, the service staff don't understand English, they will only reply you "OK" or "YES", but they do not understand anything. Because their misunderstood and thought I want to dispute with them. So they even called the police to come. They still don't know that is a misunderstanding. I was dumbfounded 9 million times, HELLO? One of the service guy who's attitude was really bad. He did not understand English and looks want to fight, stare and ignore.Kind of this hotel ,how can I write positive evaluation? I will say, would rather miss a lifetime to visit Lipe Island, do not stay with Longbay! NEVER!…
The place is lovely, peaceful, very newly built . Although they have funny stuff going on like the door handles coming off while you are trying to lock the door etc. It is a well hidden place, very peaceful. One of the Best places to stay off the beach. ( that is an advantage, because it is very quite and you can join the crowds whenever you want) the hosts are trying to do their best, having good intentions are sometimes more than enough in Thailand:))
What a truly amazing place. We had such a brilliant stay. We highly recommend this resort. Deserves 6 stars. The accommodation is huge and totally uncluttered. We were able to move around free from any obstruction. Brilliantly, the owners have not included any unnecessary items such as wardrobe, hanging space, safe, chair, fridge, air conditioning or mini bar typically found in other hotels or resorts. We enjoyed warm drinks throughout our stay and were able to neatly lay out our clothes and belongings on the floor visualise and access them with no problems whatsoever. We were also never cold or shivery and never suffered from an overly aerated room that contained too much oxygen. The ambient room temperature was always a very pleasant 40+ degrees Celsius and the relative humidity was always close to 100%. Perfect! The fan (permanently fixed into an area in no-mans-land) did a brilliant job of ensuring we had a never ending supply of hot air. And it wasn't new air either but the trusted recycled stuff. In terms of the design, I would say that the total overall build quality of the chalets was amazing. I would also like to make a special mention that (in my opinion), the carpentry and joinery workmanship was exceptional. The construction of the doors and windows, ingenious. The installer, clearly a master of his trade, seemed to had strategically misaligned many of the closing mechanisms so it was only possible to either create an airtight environment (my personal preference) or have all the windows and doors wide open. The latter option afforded us the advantage of creating a welcoming space for much of the island's nocturnal wildlife. As my wife and I are both animal lovers, it is with some sadness we had to say goodbye to the many mosquitos, cockroaches and biting ants we were able to form very close bonds with. We avoided becoming too attached to these loveable creatures by mainly keeping the chalet sealed and ourselves nice and warm. The bathroom reminded us of a classical Roman spa but also had something futuristic about it. We had never seen anything quite like it. 50% of its space which amounted to about 25% of the total chalet area, was designated as empty 'dead' space. Clearly the architect 's intention was to provide a contemplative area where bathers could reflect and meditate before and after their bathing experience. It totally worked! It seemed to me, but I could be wrong about this, that the bathroom was equipped with a state of the art shower which might be powered by a multi-setting, thermo, water heating engine. It appeared the adaptive system (if indeed it was adaptive) was designed to detect the optimal water temperature our bodies required at any given point. Simply stand under the shower and press 'on' and the shower's brain would do the rest. We once tried to manually override the system (just for laughs) by pressing various heat settings (3) but it did not allow us to change the settings. I suspect it might not be able to deliver (through programming) a less than perfect experience. Coincidentally, the system detected that both my wife and I required identical water temperatures and consistently delivered scalding hot water whenever we showered, clearly this was perfect for us. Please note, I could be wrong about this as I'm not that good with technology... The toilet roll holder was affixed to the wall some 2.5 meters from the toilet so we had to get off the loo and walk a short distance to collect a sheet or two after we had finished. Whilst I'm not qualified to give medical advice, this necessary movement might ensure against the possibility of deep vain thrombosis (DVT) through prolonged immobility or it could simply be designed for those with an above average reach. Either way, a brilliant touch and in my opinion the review merits 5 stars just for this.. I must confess that towards the end of our stay I did cheat a little by collecting a few sheets before taking my seat. The wash basin I suspect, is also governed by the same thermo-adaptive system as the shower. The water at the basin detected my optimal water temperature repeatedly and without fail as always cold (uncanny), my wife also was detected as requiring cold water. Sheer coincidence or another striking commonality in our relationship? Thank you thermo adaptive system for further affirming that my wife and I share such a close affinity. On reflection, I temper this statement, by stating again, that I could be wrong about this technology, it actually might be even more advanced that I'm giving it credit for. Technology was a big part of our experience here at Long Bay Resort and was by no means confined to our shower and bathroom exploits. Here is where I think the owner's distinguish themselves as creative and playful hosts. I suspect the internet and wifi capabilities of this resort could be well beyond the realms of fibre optic speed, but I cannot confirm this. Could it be, that the owners have dampened down the wifi capabilities to the level of a sub dial-up/modem quality connection to provide a nostalgic and engaging experience for their guests? Oh how we chuckled and chortled with delight when it took us 9 hours one day and 6 hours the next to book our onward flight and hotel via the constantly dropping and intermittent connection. It felt like 1992 all over again. A great year. In particular, I loved it when trying to submit online debit/credit card payments and having to constantly refresh the page due to a frozen screen and/or a drop in connection. It's so much fun to think we might be charged multiple times for the same transaction and then have to spend hours/days trying to rectify this. Some people might be worried about this. Not us! We thrive on this type of uncertainty and challenge. In terms of breakfast I'm not going to lie. Best breakfast we've ever eaten, largest variety of breakfast produce we've ever seen, most aesthetically pleasing breakfast array we've ever enjoyed and most skilful and thoughtful preparation and service of a breakfast we've ever experienced, bar none! We have some pretty high standards when it comes to breakfast and let me tell you both my wife and I are coffee aficionados. Back home we are accustomed to eating a royal breakfast, at least by our standards. We have travelled extensively and have never found a breakfast to match, let alone surpass our home cooked breakfast experience, until now. Eggs are the centre piece of the breakfast experience here. You are able to order them on a daily basis and choose to have them prepared in a variety of ways. The 'egg menu' is described thus, cooked egg (plain omelette), undercooked egg (fried) and scrumbled egg (scrambled). I've taken the liberty of providing the translation in parentheses. Choosing (pointing) to your desired egg option will prompt a nod of acknowledgement from the egg chef but does not guarantee that your egg will be prepared in the corresponding fashion. Here's the upside (excuse the pun), it does guarantee you will get an egg or even two at some point. It's a form of egg lottery. Whilst it is my belief that all the staff at the Long Bay resort have a perfectly adequate grasp of the English language I suspect (and I might be wrong about this) that they have been instructed by the resort's marketing department to represent zero comprehension of even the most basic rudiments of the English language. Why, because we demand it. Yes! In our insatiable quest for the authentic and original. They have no choice other than to make us feel like explorers in a distant land. What other explanation could there be? I digress. Next on the menu is toast. 2 slices of white to be precise. It's preloaded in the toaster waiting for your arrival. What time the toast chef or her assistant get up to load the toaster is anyone's guess. You just point to the toaster and the toast chef presses down the lever. The toast chef tends not to acknowledge your request for toast but this is understandable as she is operating sophisticated equipment and distractions might cause an accident. Whilst not as much fun as egg lottery, toast lottery provides a variety of possible outcomes ranging from, hardly even toasted (usual) to erm, can I have 2 new slices please (unusual). It's a joyous game. In terms of drinks, there's a choice of tea or coffee and water. I think with all this negative press about the high sugar content in fresh fruit juice the resort has opted not to provide it. Coffee lovers (I count myself one of them) will be pleased about what's on offer. Famous brand (I'm not mentioning names) freeze-dried, instant granules in the cutest individually sealed sachets. Just add boiling water. Delicious. Tea (whilst still delicious) is a simpler affair. High quality tea bags are available for guests. There's also individual sachets of milk granules and ketchup and little squares of processed jam and butter. And, as if this bounty wasn't enough, the resort also provides a small banana and orange per guest. The guests are warned (and rightly so) by a large prominent sign placed on the breakfast counter, NOT to take any breakfast back to their rooms. I must admit I was tempted and on more than one occasion to sneak a breakfast orange back to the room. I decided not to as I had no pockets in my trunks. My only criticism is that the breakfast is perhaps too much. Hey Long Bay, stop feeding us so much, we have to make space for dinner! It is my opinion that the resort restaurant has consulted with a team of nutritionists and doesn't provide any lunch or dinner options as they are undoubtedly aware that such generous breakfasts will keep their guests going for at least 24 hours. No drinks (even water) are available outside of breakfast, again another thoughtful move. Lastly, I would like to say that this resort has been very thoughtfully constructed in a way that you never feel lonely or separate from anyone. We felt an extremely close affinity with all of our neighbours as we became aware of their living habits throughout the day (and night). I found the rhythmic, beating of techno music coming from neighbouring 'Chill Bar' at 4:00am particularly relaxing. Throughout the small hours, I was able to match my breathing and heartbeat to the constant pulsating baseline. Previous reviewers are spot on in giving such high scores. We would have no hesitation coming here again or indeed living here permanently. In my opinion, this place wholeheartedly deserves the maximum TripAdvisor 5 star rating. I would certainly recommend this place to all my discerning fellow travellers of which Ko Lipe seems to have an abundance. Thank you for reading.…
