We had made two reservations at Lipe Camping Zone through Agoda (who apparently used booking.com) where I had booked a Bungalow with Private Bathroom (as opposed to Shared bathroom / tent or private room with Air Con). First we could not find it, we had asked when we arrived on Pattaya beach, and they gave us a map, where it showed next to a hotel called Sita. We went there, but no lipe camping zone in sight. We called them three times, and they could not manage to tell us where they were located (turns out the people who handle the phone are NOT located at koh lipe at all, and have no clue where it is!). We had to find a taxi driver who told us where it was ACTUALLY located (after z touch). So we managed to find it after a few hours.. We get there and they tell us that we have booked a bungalow with SHARED bathroom, and they wanted us to pay almost 50% more to get what we actually paid for. They call the people who are off koh lipe, that we previously talked to. They tell the lady at reception that she had already emailed me (true, she asked me to confirme the two bookings I made)and then proceeded to lie that she had emailed me to tell me I would have to pay more for the private bathroom. The lady got really rude and told us that "this happens all the time" - so we guess its their policy to get tired guest arriving to pay more... We called agoda to say we wanted to cancel as we did not get what we had booked without having to pay more. The poor guy at Agoda got a bit confused, and also though we had booked wrong. Turns out we did not book wrong, you can see for yourself when you book - if you book with SHARED bathroom VS private bathroom. But even if your booking says "bungalow with bathroom" as opposed to the "bungalow with shared bathroom" they will still say you only booked with shared bathroom. Apparently "bungalow with bathroom" equals "bungalow with shared bathroom" to these people, and you will always have to pay more. Scammers!! So yeah, never again! Only bright thing, this man who was there, who we later saw was doing the snorkeling trips, was very nice, he actually apologised on behalf of the other lady. I was told that they would not charge for the cancellation, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that they still charged for it...

The people who run this place are a bit abrupt, but friendly enough. They seem to have a phobia of using electricity though. The whole area is very dimly lit, and they charge you to charge anything (at least in the tents). I know electric is expensive on Lipe, but it'd be better to just put the price up 30 baht per day rather than charging 30 baht everytime you want to charge something. Because they charge for it I just went elsewhere for meals and drinks and charged my stuff for free, so they lost any food orders they might have got. I did see a few people hanging around the restaurant/bar after sunset, but the amount of mosquitos and the whole place feeling a bit dingy, dissuaded me from doing that. If you are looking for a cheap alternative, I'd honestly take a hostel compared to this. If you value your privacy, there's a capsule hostel called 'A Plus' which is about 500 baht. If you have to stay here you can use the big resort's toilets at the bottom of the hill (the one you have to walk through to get to the beach), they didn't seem to notice or care when I did that, you can also charge stuff there but I'd probably buy something from their restaurant/shop if you're going to do that. By the way, Lipe (and particularly Pattaya Beach) on a weekend in high season is not a good idea, unless you love crowds of people and drunk guys using the sea as a toilet.

We booked a tent for 3 nights... when we arrived there, and by the way is super easy to get there, we could choose our tent. Of course we choosed the wrong one, as it was under the sun all day, so iper hot! The owner let us change for another one in the shade... Anyway both were uncorfortable, wich I was ready for, but compared to other tent we had in Thailand and for the price we had to pay I think this had been overpriced... The athmosphere looks pretty chilled, but as soon you dont consume from their bar they get pretty cold, and once you order something you are in the friendzone again! In 3 days we had the chance to see then argue with other guest twice...and in a pretty drama way too... Good spot, very close to sunset beach, pattaya beach and the walking sreet. So just average...

We are staying here at present. We booked a bungalow with fan via booking.com which clearly shows pictures of a bamboo hut furnished with a sleeping mat and fan. Almost all bungalows in the Thai islands are bamboo huts of varying degrees of comfort so this was not a surprise to us. The property is half way between Pattaya and Sunset beaches and about a 5 min walk along the beach to Walking Street. Great location. The owner let us into our room early which was not expected and very definitely appreciated. The bamboo hut is even tolerable during the day with the fan on - a distinct bonus given the heat and Sun here at present. The bathrooms are basic but functional with cold showers (again not abnormal in the Islands) its much the same as bathrooms in campsites in england minus the rain and cold. I considered knocking a star off for the fact that compared to other islands it is slightly more expensive than similar accomodation but in the context of the other properties nearby and the prices they charge it is reasonable. If you have never camped before then the Thai islands are not the place to try it. If you are expecting 5 star or even 1 star hotel luxury then go somewhere else. If you want an inexpensive (by Lipe standards) place to crash then this is the place to go!

I booked this online because it was cheap and looked central to the main bars and restaurants. When I arrived I showed the lady my booking which was a bungalow with bathroom for 600 baht a night. She then showed me to my accommodation which was a hut not a bungalow. No bed, chairs or sheets. I couldn't believe what we were expected to sleep in, the only thing in there was a mat, fan and mosquito net. I told the lady I booked with bathroom her reply was if I wanted bathroom I needed to pay a further 300 baht which I wasn't going to do. It was honestly awful this place, look around before staying here.

The tent were not waterproof, and all our stuff were wet because of the rain. No hot water in the shower, the price is too expensive for what we had there. No matress in the tent, so our two night there were horrible. We had to pay for each services : like to charge our phone, to have a towels or a coffee. Don't go there

The place is really well set up for travelers with a nice bar & communal area. This was great if you wanted to stay up however difficult to sleep if you didn't.The communal toilets are a bit grim, basic but fit for purpose. We camped in tents in January the weather is fairly tropical at this time of year so had multiple wake ups from thunder/lightening/ rain coming into tents - the tents used are not waterproof which was frustrating. This is a good place with nice staff however the bungalows I imagine would be much more comfortable, we tried to save some cash & regretted this decision.

We booked a bungalow here. We were okay with shared bathroom and small wooden bungalow, but finally a big cockroach on my pillow ended our night at 10pm. Women on reception speaks only very little english and she looked like this is not problem. She refused to find a solution or call her manager to figure it out. Now I am waiting for information from agoda where I booked it and hope they will return at least part of my money. Finally thanks to nice people on Lipe we found a place to stay for that night which was cheaper and nicer than that small bungalow in camping zone. Next day we found nice place where we stayed for next two nights. All that even at the end of the year when the island is almost fully booked. Next time better get to this island without any reservation and find something at place.
