This hotel is all about its location. We stayed here based on the Bungalows with hammock perched at the end of Pattaya Beach. The hotel came and picked us from the ferry in a pickup and drove us back to the hotel. The staff was friendly and gave us a desirable room. The room was nice enough and inline with 3-star accommodation in remote setting, though the price is somewhat high. The bathroom features a wet shower. Breakfast was unexceptional. The hotel can charge a premium price given travelers' desire for the view with a hammock.
The hotel is on the quieter end of the island except for noise that carries across the water from a club at night. The island is mostly walkable and it is about 10-15 minute walk down the beach to “walking street.” Unfortunately, across the island at the end of “walking street” is the Art Beach Club that on multiple nights had its music blaring until midnight or later. The music carries across the water to the hotel. It would be nice if the noise from the club was regulated, as it benefits a few and impacts many others trying to enjoy their time on the island. The only way to avoid the noise would likely we be stay on the north side of the island so the hill would block the noise. We would consider staying here again given the Bungalows settings, but would consider looking for somewhere more protected from the club noise.

Our villa was nice and comfortable, hammock on the deck was awesome and spent quite a few hours relaxing in the breeze.
There were a few small improvements that could be made. A laundry line in the bathroom, and a bit of work on the in room lights, they were spotlights and very difficult to maneuver the direction so they were bright and obnoxious. Ambient light would be much better suited in this environment.
Breakfast is pretty average nothing to special but ample.
This is a halal establishment and so there is no pork at breakfast and although we didn’t ask specifically there was no alcohol of the menus.
We had no problems with noise at night, and it was easy to walk around and experience other things on the island.
It’s great to get a bit of quiet and also all the other great things, quiet end of the beach.

I stayed in the grand sea view room for three nights and I really loved the amazing scenery outside our balcony. That’s not the only thing that I loved the most about this hotel, the service is impeccable and the staff are super friendly. However, to make this experience even better, I think the hotel should improve the surrounding cleanliness and fix some rundown structures. Other than that this hotel is perfect for relaxing and enjoying your time in this beautiful island. I definitely come back again ❤️

Dear taewanderer Thank you very much for your kind words. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We have been working with a reduced team during the period of your stay, that's maybe why the surrounding or the property were not well taken care of, please accept all our apologies. We have now a complete team again and hope, if you come back to Lipe, that you will see a great improvement. We are looking forward to seeing you soon. Chareena Hill - Beach Resort, Kris

We (a family of two adults and three young children) stayed in the ‘Grand Royal Family Room’ for five nights in early January 2020. There is much to like about the Chareena. The view of the beach and bay from our balcony were outstanding and are the reason to choose this hotel. The generous balcony was a joy to hang out on. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was just big enough for five (though plainly neither Grand nor Royal). It and the bathroom were clean and serviced every day with fresh towels. The beds were comfortable and the AC was very efficient. Water pressure was excellent and the shower temperature easily calibrated. But I feel obliged to point out some of the drawbacks of this hotel: 1) At 400 dollars per night for our room, we were surprised and disappointed to be told to put our used toilet paper in a plastic dustbin by the toilet rather than flushed down the toilet. Of course the pressures of mass tourism on the sewage infrastructure of a small island are understood but you would expect a hotel in this price range to have invested in a proper septic tank.
2) Despite the hotel being at the far end of the beach, on all five nights we stayed there was no escaping the booming sound of house music coming from cafes in the middle of the beach. My wife and two of my children had difficulty sleeping because of this.
3) There was insufficient storage space for the clothes of a family of five. A small wardrobe and small side cabinet were plainly inadequate.
4) Our shower lacked a door which meant water splashed over much of the bathroom when in use.
5) Breakfast (included in the room rate) was basic. Not much choice and not particularly tasty. The furniture in the dining room is getting shabby and the room is cramped for the number of guests, although it is beautifully situated with lovely views.
6) The multiple steps up to our room were at times very steep and difficult/dangerous to navigate for any child under the age of five.

Dear Longtimetraveller22, Thank you very much for your detailed review. We take our guests feedback very seriously and we will make sure to improve on the different point mentioned above. I will just add some precisions about the sceptic system of our resort : all our rooms are fully equiped with sceptic tanks but bacterias boring in the tanks do not digest paper. This is the reason why we kindly ask our guests not to flush paper. Where ever you go in Asia, it is highly recommended to put paper in the bin instead. All our bathrooms are equipped with a water gun on the toilet side in order to avoid using paper. We understand that it is not easy for our guests to get used to this system and we apologise for the inconvenience. We hope that you had some fantastic holidays in Koh Lipe. Best regards from all Chareena Hill Beach Resort team

We stayed in room 202. We had a great experience. I would recommend Chareena.
My wife and I came here on a whim. We were traveling for business on in Thailand over the 2019 Christmas holiday season. We decided to spend Christmas at Chareena. It is a little tricky to find your way here, but the wonderful people at Chareena made it seem easy. They took care of all the arrangements for us. They had a driver at our hotel that drove us to the ferry. When the taxi dropped us off, we were received by a couple nice young people that helped us with our bags and stayed with us until we boarded the ferry. The ferry took us to Ko Lipe. When we got to the dock, Chareena had a small boat take us directly to the resort. (We had the same experience on the way out.)
Our room had a very nice view of the whole Pattaya Beach. Although it was not Sunrise Beach, we could get a nice view of the sunrise from our balcony. The room was clean and in good condition.
The resort staff was very friendly and helpful. I want to give a special call out to "Sea". She was great! Anytime we had a question, they were more than happy to help out. One time, we were trying to go to the north end of sunrise beach. They gave us a ride to the taxi pickup and even called ahead to a taxi to meet us there and take us the rest of the way.
Our room came with complimentary breakfast. There was a nice variety of breakfast items. We were happy with this service.
The island is small and you can walk almost anywhere. The resort is on the far end of Pattaya Beach. Very close to two diving centers and you can easily head there in the morning. It was just far enough away from the walking street that you didn't get any noise at night, but still very near. You could get there with a few minutes walk.
There was a small area right off the resort were you can snorkel or kayak. I heard there were better places around the islands, but it was fine for casual vacationers.

Koh Lipe revie
We really wanted to give more stars for this stay but unfortunately the little things really added up and detracted from our experience at Chareena Hill. We had great service upon arrival, however the drive up to our accommodation was sad. Terrible mud roads, rubbish everywhere and nothing looked after - a stark contrast to the touristy front of the island. This can not be helped, but is such a shame. The resort is poorly maintained - uneven stairs, rotting timber pathways, mouldy bathrooms. We were originally in room 206 and while the view was breathtaking (truly the best on the island) the smell from the sewage and septic system was unbearable. We couldn’t sit on our veranda to enjoy the view on the hammock because the smell was so potent. The entire walk up the (many many) stairs smelled of faeces and drains. We put up with it for a night but after that decided to do something and ask for a refund to move hotels. They wouldn’t grant this and suggested we swapped rooms. We agreed and down graded views to escape the smell. The bathroom in this villa had no shower drainage accept beside the toilet so when we showered, the whole bathroom flooded. No alcohol at the bar which meant a decent walk to any drinks. No pool/ extra ammenities, which for the price point, was disappointing. Positives - the view!! There is nothing else like it at Pattaya Beach. It’s about a 5 minute walk from the hustle bustle and nighttime noise which meant restful sleeps! Staff were generally helpful, organised our transfers and carried our bags up the stairs. Thank you for our stay. It’s a shame really, this place could be fabulous.

When entering our room I was struck by the good look and scent of a very clean room.
After our first night I must post this review after reading earlier review about sewage smell! The sewage on this tiny island isn’t 100% top modern, tourist flush paper and issues appear.
There’s no issue with strong smell when writing this on december 31 / january 1. So I guess the plumber has fixed the problem in room 2006.
The stairs are a challenge indeed!
Irregular, sometimes steep or leaning. But we found the shortcut to the beach passing room 203 to be very nice indeed and after adjusting our wifi to connect with restaurant the younger son is also happy staying here!
The breakfast buffet was a nice suprise, since we got the impression that breakfast wasn’t included. Eggstation was great. I appreciated the seabreeze when having breakfast.
Our view from balcony was the best on Lipe when the new year 2023 greeted us with the fireworks from Sita resort next to us. Some loud beach club music reached us but we could sleep anyhow.
The staff is kind and good! Today we received a lovely new years greeting with a card and homemade cake.
The bumpy road is a heaven in dry december comparing to state of the roads when rainy season is doing it’s work. Then you must get of the ride and push! You get stuck in the mud!
In general the waste management has been a headache for Koh lipe for a long time. To many visitors on a tiny island. But as a guest I try to contribute by not littering and avoid touching so not destroying nature in sea or on land.
I recomend Chareena hillside for people enjoying a balcony with views and a private feeling when watching the world go by. I spotted some lovely birds just next to the bungalow! Maybee a kingfisher!
I would’t recomend this hotel for partypeople or familys with small kids or disabled.

Well man, Chareena has a super great atmosphere as soon as you come in, with wet towel for face, juice and huge smiles from everyone.
The room with sea view was beautiful, perfect view and cleaned! I asked for flowers, dinner, boat tour and everything was perfect!!
Breakfast with some delicious food and nice menu as well, and the Pineapple and coconut shake ( virgin colada ) is insane trust me, you gotta try it.
Love it and I’ll definitely come back! 🌞
