We had the standard double room so cannot comment on the bungalows but we didn’t enjoy our stay here. The room faces a wooden wall where a stagnant pool of water sits behind and at night you are kept awake by the sound of the frogs in the water and couldn’t sit outside our room due to the mosquitos also enjoying the stagnant water. The rooms are basic and small and you can hear everything from next door! The bathroom smells disgusting and the towels and bedding smell of moth balls. The breakfast was ok but I just had meusli because it was the only thing not covered in flies. I have no idea why they put pastries and fruit out uncovered as it’s a simple thing to do. The eggs were cold and staff kept lifting the cover on the container and leaving open so this again was food for the flies. The pictures on the website are not a true reflection of this resort which I can imagine was lovely many years ago but it’s in dire need of refurbishment. There are much better similar priced hotels on sunrise beach. We underestimated how near sunrise beach was from the bars and restaurants but it’s very close and far more idyllic.…

Amazing experience in Don Ta-Lae resort! Best service i had in Thailand so far, been to Maldives many times but Koh Lipe beaches tottaly beat it! Highly recommend the restaurant in the resort 🙏 Make sure you go scuba diving as well! Best reef ever

A correct hotel without more, with a basic and basic equipment: towels as thick as a sheet, bathroom with just a small bottle of soap, plastic plates, random WiFi, abundant breakfast, but badly prepared with cheap products (the Thai pad for this hotel is noodles with ketchup bathed in oil, the coffee is just Nescafe). Moreover everything is served cold. And to top it all off, the cleaning was not done during the 48 hours I stayed. The manager told me it was my fault, I should have put the sign "Clean up on the door". I call that kind of thinking making fun of the customers. A hotel that would be honest at $35-40, 50 would be expensive enough. But I paid 105$ a night, which is way too much for the lamentable service that is offered.

I booked this resort after walking past the year before. It has a lovely pool over looking the beach with various types of villas. We booked a beachfront room which had a nice view overlooking the pool through to the beach/ocean. The beach front villas are individual except for one duplex style. The duplex style suited us as we had friends stay beside us which was great to share a long balcony. Excellent in this situation, however if we went back on our own we’d prefer a single villa so it’s more private. The staff were lovely and a special thank you to Lee who was the contact through email prior and lovely on the island. Works extremely hard and always with a smile. Don is a fantastic manager overseeing everything is running smoothly. Very friendly and helpful. We loved Apple (and her very cute doggy) the resort owner. She is extremely friendly and we loved her bubbly personality. This is not a flash resort. It did have everything we needed. The only thing I would recommend is if they can update the bathrooms. The water was Luke warm for most showers and sometimes cold. I don’t think it would take much to spruce the shower area up. The rest of the room was great and had a great working air conditioner. We found the breakfast more than adequate. I did hear other people complaining about it. For us there was more than enough choice as we are happy to enjoy fried rice and eggs. There was watermelon and pineapple. Toast and cereal also available. A few other choices. More than adequate for my family. If they weren’t too busy they would also cook you a fresh omelet. Eating breakfast outside on the deck has such a beautiful view. We booked our day trip with the resort and our long tail driver was excellent. We did both the inner and outer snorkeling. We particularly enjoyed the inner one as the second location had amazing snorkeling that we stopped at and the beach we stopped at was beautiful. We definitely will look at coming back to this resort if we return to Koh Lipe. It is on a busy part of the island but we liked this as it was close to Walking street to walk to for supplies and dinner out. We also got to witness (which we think the best placed resort ) to see an amazing half an hour display of fireworks on New Year’s Eve. If you seek quietness then choosing a resort on either sunrise or sunset beach might be a better option. For us we really enjoyed the vibe of this beach. Also after staying on sunrise beach the year before and finding it windy we decided Pattaya beach was a better option this time of year as likely not windy. Apparently it is the opposite mid year. We also had perfect sunshine for our whole week. So even though it’s high season and rates are higher it’s a good time of year to stay. We loved our stay. Koh Lipe is very beautiful. Beautiful white sand and aqua water . Dong Talay is a beautiful little gem to stay at and the staff are lovely. …

Good location just 2 minutes walking from pier. Comfy bed. Spacious room. They help you to carry your bags. Staffs willing to help all the time. Breakfast is not good, poor quality food. No english channels on TV. No fridge in the room. They don't replace Shampoo and Shower gel. Loudy music at night until 12am.

Just spent 4 nights at Dong Talay and had a wonderful stay. Lovely bungalow on the beach close to everything. Very nice breakfast on a morning and the staff were very friendly and helpful with local information. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic place. Very friendly straff and a great location. In the evening the beach transer into a romantic place with candlelight and flaming torches and a very good atmosphere. Would love to come back.

Wonderful week long stay at Dong Talay Resort! We came for only a few day’s and ended up staying a week! We loved every minute of it! The Beachfront bungalow was spacious, table and chairs right in the porch, steps t the pool and beach, bed very comfortable, pillows good, room is large compared to other places, they will make you a special egg omelet for breakfast if you ask, coffee and tea anytime, VERY FRIENDLY STAFF!!! Feels like we’ve been living with family! They are hard workers and will help you in any way they can...just ask! We have LOVED our time here and hate to leave! Also, we moved here from a very high end resort in Sunrise beach and ended up liking it so much better here! If you want a friendly, clean resort, come to Dong Lipe. You’ll be relaxing by the pool and beach in no time!! …

Just a short walk from the landing jetty, this is a lovely hotel with its own swimming pool, bar and restaurant. The rooms are mostly individual bungalows with a terrace, all set in lovely gardens The bed was really comfortable and appeared to be super-king size. Air con, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities. Cleaned every day. Owned and manged by a lovely lady (Apple). Definitely recommended. Breakfast included. Good for couples and families alike

Super nice staff Very friendly staff and helpful Good food (except breakfast ) The ajoined rooms are SO SO noisy like unbelievable Very expensive for the value and quality of the rooms $$$ BUT you are directly on the beach Pool is nice and staff is awesome !
