I am not normally one to stay at hostels, but Koh Lipe is expensive (for Thailand) so I decided to stay here for three nights. I checked out a day early because the girl working there was so rude to me. My key card was no longer working so she said I had to pay 200 baht for a new card. This was completely unacceptable to me because it was not my fault it was not working. She refused to even test it. She was so rude about it, that I said I just wanted to get my things and my passport and check out. She refused to do it until I paid her 200 baht. I told her I wanted to speak to her manager, but she refused. Then I told her I wanted to speak to the police because she would not let me get my things or give me back my passport. She then threatened to call Immigration! I said to go ahead, as long as I could speak to the police. I waited around for about 15 minutes more, but no police showed up. Finally I told her I would pay the 200 baht, I just wanted to get my things and my passport and leave. At first she said I could not get my things until 3:00! Finally, after taking my 200 baht, she let me get my things and finally gave me back my passport. I have never been treated so horribly in my life. This girl should be seriously reprimanded. I am now staying at a resort here in Lipe at considerably more money because her treatment was so terrible. Shame on her and shame on Walking Street Hostel! I am having such a pleasant stay at my new accommodation that I extended my trip here in Koh Lipe by two days. Also, the hostel itself was very dirty. My bed smelled awful, the bathroom was disgusting (and there was only one toilet and one shower!). The shower head wasn’t even attached to the shower. …
