Firstly, what you have to understand is that accommodation in Koh Lipe is quite expensive relative to other Thai islands as it is so small, it is simple supply and demand. We booked this room as a private room with shared bathroom and we booked it knowing that there is a gap at the top of each room as we had looked at other trip advisor reviews. I will admit that it is false advertising to sell these rooms as private when they are more like partitioned dorms but we didn’t mind as we had booked it knowingly. Also Koh Lipe is so beautiful that you will not spend very much time in the room, it is somewhere to put your head for the night. The most important thing is that this hostel is very clean, the beds are comfortable and the aircon is very powerful. The owners are very friendly. The dorm was a bit noisy at night as two girls decided to have a loud full scale conversation at 3am but its not managements fault that people are rude!…
Me and my boyfriend stayed there for a couple of nights and we've been really comfortable. The room is very cheap but with air con and quite private, even if the roof is open to the other rooms. They give you free coffee in the morning and you can buy tours and tickets directly there. The toilets and showers are clean. We recommend staying there.
I booked the place believing it was a private room- since that's what says on booking.com. But; it's not. 10 booths, with doors and single/double bed, are connected since the walls aren't going all way to the roof. By means it gets really noisy with 10-20 people in one room and add 10 slamming doors to that and you understand it's not a private room. There is one aircon in each end of the corridor, to all ten rooms. The cold air had problems to get into my room over the wall. I had to move after 4 of 12 booked (and payed for) nights. Could not be in it. The staff was nice and the shared bathroom clean.
We bought a ‘private room’. There was nothing private about it. Walls don’t reach the ceiling so this is simply a 20 bed mix dorm. Total con. The most expensive dorm I’ve ever stayed in too at £40 p/n in high season.
I can only recommend! The place is very nice, clean, with aircondition, perfect location to everything. Staff so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the partitions between the rooms are not to the ceiling. BUT you have your own room, and that is awesome :-) I stayed there for two weeks, so there was a lot of diffrent visitors - and some people just don’t know about common behavior and respect. But you can’t blame the owner for that :-)
