If you're looking for somewhere beautiful and relaxing to stay on Lipe, I highly recommend you DON'T stay at Bayview Sunset Resort or Bayview Hill. These two places are one and the same and if you're unfortunate like us, the cabins come with white mould over every surface, the deck outside your room is likely to collapse when you stand on it, there are holes in the roof with water pouring through electric lights and the customer service is atrocious, non existent and NOT customer focused at all! We had a fantastic week with them in March and so booked again for the start of November but due to the serious health and safety issues there we had to leave after 3 nights. Despite assuring Booking.com they'd refund me they have not, they are ignoring all my attempts at contact with them and I do not feel they will ever issue the refund we are due. I paid over £300 for one week and had to leave after 3 nights so there is 4 full nights refund due of 8,179 Baht. The first night my Husbands foot went through the deck outside our room and injured his leg in the process. The next day we were moved to another room that had white mould on every single surface, the woodwork, the floor, the sofa. Everything in the cabin was damp to the touch and it stunk. Not wanting to complain I went and got cleaning products and attempted to clean it myself, it reappeared within hours. The next day we woke to rain pouring through the roof in two places, one dripping through the electric light and one directly into my suitcase. There was also a leak above the door which had totally saturated the curtains. We told the owner Lucas we were going to stay elsewhere and he firstly offered us to stay at his new Cannabis hotel and he'd give us a cheap deal....considering we'd already paid for a week and leaving on day 3 we refused. We booked accommodation elsewhere and the contrast was like night and day. We finally had a clean, dry and decent place to stay. Lucas agreed we could have a refund and that we'd get it within 10-15 days, we are now on day 26 and still no refund. I am still being ignored and I just want to warn others that are thinking of staying here not to. Koh Lipe us beautiful, don't let this absolute hovel ruin your time on Lipe. Yes, I have an axe to grind and I will continue to do so until I get my refund, Any self respecting business owner would rectify this but they flat out ignore all correspondence. All I can say is SHAME ON YOU Lucas and Bayview.…
We didn’t actually stay at this location but the review is for the owner who went out of his way to call a taxi for us when we got lost. He called multiple companies to get through. We can say with confidence he would make sure you had a nice stay.
It is very disappointing to say that I did not like anything about the resort Where do I start. Let me first say that we booked for four nights and left after one. Communication with the staff on site was hard. Owner and wife were away. I have written to them to explain my situation but nothing has been heard back by way of an apology or compensation. I paid in advance on arrival for 4 nights but we left after one nights stay. So the main reasons (in no particular order were: - The beach is not cleaned/tidied unlike many other resorts on Koh Lipe that appreciate that the beach is a selling point to them. - The resort is above the beach and on many levels with steep stairs that when wet can get slippy. Care must be paid when using the many stairs to the beach and restaurant. - The restaurant is drab and other than one shared table not covered. - Two beers available on the first night - We booked two seaview rooms/huts. The one was OK. The other (my daughters) had evidence of bed bugs, no mosquito net (although this was provided when asked for) padlock for her hut didn't work (was fixed upon request). No TV as advertised (although not a major issue) - Breakfast was served with mouldy bread. All in all not a great experience. We voted with our feet and booked into another resort on Sunrise Beach which was so much better in comparison and cheaper! No effort or care from the resort to try and resolve.…
The owner’s wife who works as a staff is so rude. When I tried to order breakfast at seven which was supposed to be at 7:30 am, she shouted and me and even used cooking utensils to try to hit me and scare me. After that she kept complaining and shouting. It’s so rude. Never ever come back.
Several levels of rooms available, nice restaurant with many options, including Lobster. You cannot rent a scooter on the island, but the hotel is very good in helping you get cheap transportation. 50B to really anywhere. If you get a taxi around the island it is 50 B per person. Several nice beaches to visit, Mark the manager will happily assist you in choices and transportation. They also have a restaurant in town, called Fin. The Ferry to the island is 2 hours with two other island stops for you to spend money. From the island is direct and 1.5 hours. We opted for a plan B snorkeling tour via the hotel, with 4 snorkeling spots. 2 were very good (2nd and 3rd) . They also take you to 2 islands for photos and monkey island for lunch. Take some cash for lunch time, in case you want more than the included lunch. At lunch you can add snacks or drinks. Bench seating is available with a 5 minute walk down the beach. Owner and all staff are the best …
The hosts were very disrespectful and unprofessional. This is the worst customer service we had in all hotels we travelled to (and we travelled a lot). They refused to give us the room because they had a problem with Booking on our confirmed reservation. After 2 hours waiting for him to solve this issue, we just asked to get the room because his issue with Booking was not our concern, but he refused and left. He asked Booking to cancel our reservation and wanted us to leave. He started screaming at us and being aggressive.
Bayview sunset and bayview hill is the same property. We stayed in bayview hill which has the best views of the ocean and koh adang. Walk down the stairs and you will be at the beach restaurant on the private and quiet Sunset Beach. A perfect hotel allowing you to really get away from everything
We stayed at the Bayview resort the week of Songkran, and barely managed to eke out a week of almost pure bliss before this vicious pandemic third wave threw everything sideways and backward in Thailand. I’ve been thinking the past several weeks that the wonderful memories of staying at Lucas’ and his wife Sasi’s (ศศิ) place are about the only thing carrying me through this stage of the pandemic. We joined four friends for a magical week on Lipe, a different place now than before and if/when hordes of tourists return, with just locals, Thai people from out-of-town, and expats. The island itself quickly became one of my favorites of all the Thai islands, due to its compact size where we could walk everywhere, and the island vibe, which is so special and so different from any other island I’ve been to (and there are many). Somehow this hotel captures the essence of what makes Lipe so wonderful. The bungalow-sized villas are set against the hillside, with a steep staircase to climb to get down to breakfast and to the beach, but that hardly served as a deterrent to our enjoyment. Breakfast is served by the water, and it’s so much more than a typical Thai hotel breakfast. The khai jiao was consistently amongst the best I’ve ever had, and all the food was made with love, by a harried staff trying to serve everyone’s demands in a reasonable amount of time. (Don’t come here if you’re especially impatient or get worked up about waiting, especially when you see everyone working as hard as they can.) There’s excellent snorkeling right in the bay, with the hotel renting you reasonably priced snorkeling equipment. The entire staff was friendly, warm, and welcoming, and you really felt like a guest, a term thrown around too loosely in the tourism industry, and there was only one case of an ugly, screaming white expat, but the situation was expertly diffused by Lucas’ wife Sasi (ศศิ), whose weary face showed she’d dealt with insolent foreigners before. Daily cleaning service doesn’t happen every day, which we didn’t want, but any time we needed anything, it was provided immediately. We stayed in one of the superior villas just around the corner from the reception area, the one with the shower overlooking the Andaman Sea which may now be my single favorite spot in all of Thailand. One of the things my husband and I always look for in a hotel or resort is a decent shower. We’ve stayed at a wide range of places, and if a hotel has a decent shower, let alone a perfect one, it will instantly raise the rating. The Bayview may be too “rustic” for some, but it was safe and secure, we slept comfortably, and most of all, every single shower was just delightful. After a day on the beach, doing any number of activities, we knew there was a shower waiting at the hotel, with perfect water pressure and temperature and the standard rainfall/spray hose combo (which always worked). I think I’m still coasting along merely on memories of the shower. I can’t recommend Bayview Sunset Resort highly enough, and am glad we stayed there, instead of the other side of the island. We’re returning the same time next year and staying in the same room. Depending on what happens with the ongoing covid-19 nightmare in Thailand, we may even end up back at the Bayview before next April. You have to stay here to get the full Lipe experience, so make your reservation and tell Lucas I said hello.…
Nice simple accommodation. The beach and water is what you visit this beautiful island for. A really nice 4 night stay, some of the timber is looking a little worse for wear, but still had an enjoyable stay. A visit to this island is a must for any visitors to Thailand.
We have to admit that the bungalows although simple the view is pretty nice. The resort is located at a private little beach quiet and with a restaurant literally on the sand. You are in the hill like in the middle of the jungle feeling with nice sea view. The most important was the owner Lucas who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable during our stay, for this reason deserves 5 start.keep it up!
