Humble place is not a synonym of a messed up place. The “hotel” could be a good place for those that wants to dive and see the wonders of the seas. But it is not the same for the rooms. Actually, it was the worst experience booming rooms ever. Firstly, there is no organization in your check in. You will be in a front of nowhere mixing up with those that wants to dive. No orientation how the “hotel works”. No wifi even though they inform they do. Turn yourself with your 4G or use the wifi from other business around. After a long time check in, we receive the key. The path to thee room was something like “raiders in the lost ark” in a corridor smelling fish. But that was ok, considering the places I booked before. First “surprise” when we reach the main door: It was stucked to open. The lady from the front desk was with me in that time. She was embarassed about the situation. I felt strange. So, the door just opened after some pushes and bumps. Then the room give us a new surprise....Smelling with something strange. Like something weird. I prefer to think the smell was coming from outside... I started to check the room.... and. Spider webs everywhere. Like a room that was closed for a long time. While I was checking that situation, Finally we have found the source of the smelling. It was the bathroom.... smelling like sewer. Really. I have never felt something like that before. The worst place ever booked. I was in a mix of frustration and disappointment. I had no reaction to complain in that time. The balcony doors did not open, it was stucked due to the sea spray. (No problem at all about that), but the lady who open the door told me: “I never opened it before. I have no idea if its working properly. I freezed up then. I have been in so many places (backpackers as well) and I don’t think this is even a hostel. After gor the keys I walked around the “hotel” and I realized that all rooms had the same situation. If I complain with the manager, he will give me something like this, so I prefer to report it as a bad place to stay and advice others to do not stay here. I prefer to book a new hotel than start arguing with someone with no conditions to discuss... with no reasons. Even campings are more clean. Really... it was impossible to sleep at night with the bathroom smelling sewer. We were in room number 7, so I am not sure if the same problem affected other rooms... we had to put a old chair to hold the door and reduce the smell. So in a short starement, please do not screw your vacations and get a room in a decent hotel neat walking street.…
I stayed here for 6 nights (over Christmas) and did my Advanced Open Water plus fun dives. I loved it all and would go back tomorrow if I could. The instructors are first class and very professional. I felt like part of the team and will remember it all with much pleasure! Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar.
Super friendly and fun group. Glad to have chosen this one. Made diving in such a beautiful place even better. On the chill side away from the busy part of the beach. The instructors were professional and safe. Looking forward to coming back here next time I’m around.
My brother and I had a great time here... If your going to rest and sit during few days this is not your place but if you want to dive for a cheap price and have free acomodation this is the perfect fit, people are kind and are doing a great job inside and outside the water. Special thanks to eddy, I hope we will be able to come back one day
Ko Lipe is one of the most expensive island in Thailand. So yes it’s a bit expensive. Like any other places/food you will find in Lipe. The hotel is very nice. I stayed in a one bedroom room. Clean. Not smelly like some other comment could said. You have a fan working perfectly that do the job. No trouble at night. Never felt too warm. I can tell you that I can be sometimes a freaking difficult person. But let’s not over exaggerate, this hotel is good. Yes it’s not a 5* hotel. But you are right on the beach. You can even hear the waves from your bed. At night no trouble falling asleep as all restaurant/bar around shut down. To be clear it is still a very good deal compared to the rest of the island. Team is nice and friendly. Yes you are in Thailand so no hot water in the shower. But I mean it’s more than 30 degrees outside. You don’t feel it ! Go there and enjoy it. It’s perfect and beautiful. You have once or twice a bbq at night. And a cool sitting area under a tree for shadow. …
Firstly....it's not a hotel. It's a diving business with rooms. I've stayed in much better places in Thailand for a fraction of the price. During six nights the room doesn't get cleaned or made up at all. You don't get offered clean sheets or towels. The electric shower doesn't work....cold water only. There is air con fitted, but of course...it doesn't work. The wi-fi signal is dreadful. The bathroom absolutely stinks of damp as it's not ventilated, or cleaned properly. The toilet bowl was dirty. The bathroom makes the whole room smell unless you leave all windows open allowing insects in. The electric cuts out for short periods. When you leave the room the electric shuts off.....no problem with that......except the fridge goes off too! No storage apart from a rack....no drawers or cupboards. The only good bit is the location. The bar advertised is not part of the "hotel" it's a separate business. Lovely island but wouldn't stay here again. The owners just don't seem to care as they have had bad reviews on other sites but the issues stay the same. Worst of all, in my opinion, they didn't even have the courtesy to say thank you or enquirer how our stay was when we checked out. Oh, and they wanted paying in cash.....no receipt issued.…
We checked in the room but realised that the air conditioner is not working, complained to the staff and were that electricity supply is low., which no air conditioning should be turn on otherwise the building will have power disruptions and it happened to that area. We were in the room for half an hour and really can’t stand the heat, try to look for remote controller to try the aircond but the remote was kept by the hotel! Complained again to the staff and the owner but no solution was being offered to us, indeed they ask us to go swimming instead of staying inside the room and the temperature will goes down at night with the door open! This hotel should be removed from any hotel booking sites! Not worth the price we paid, the bathroom is also very dirty. eventually we had to book another hotel with higher price …
I immediately felt in love with this place! The hotel/hostel (is has private rooms and also 2 dorms for 6 and 8 people) is very clean, the staff is SUPER friendly (Aris from reception is exceptional) and everybody helped us to have Lipe's best experience. There has been issues with the AC, but they changed us to another room or offered a discount for a room with fan. We also did 2 fun dives with instructor Juan Pablo, it could not have been better! He took care really well of the whole group and the diving was incredible! I would come back in one second if I could.
We landed with our family at Davey Jones Locker in high season. It is good to know that this hotel and dive center is on the busiest beach so be ready for some hub bub! . However, DJL is near the end of the beach so its quieter and there is a really chill place next door to have coffee in the morning or a beer or cocktail at night. The staff were great. Aris was great at welcoming us and getting us settled, one of the nights there was an Argentinian bar b que and they were really friendly and invited us to join. Unfortunately we really needed air conditioning and hot water, which the rooms didnt have. There was a fan but it was so noisy that it was hard to sleep. We were able to find a hotel across at the quieter beach (sunrise) for the same price with a pool and much nicer accomodation. For what you get the rooms at DJL are pricey. The only room that I would recommend is the one that directly faces the beach, you get a great view and nice ocean breeze to keep the room cooler. Even though we had to move hotels, I came back to dive with the team. Ed gave me a refresher as I hadn't been diving in a few years and he was thorough and good humored. I went out for two dives in the afternoon and they were spectacular. The crew was professional and it was very worthwhile. a great experience! Thank you Aris!…
Stayed here in a delux double room with balcony, for 3 nights. Room was ok, but didn't get cleaned for the duration of my stay. Also faced onto the bar next door which played, admittedly chilled, music till the small hours which was audible. The guy who showed us to our rooms (London or Essex accent) gave us some patter about it being an Eco lodge but then went onto how much his electricity bill had been; therefore, the rooms are equipped with not water and air con but both are shut off. The room did have a fan but was still very hot in the daytime. I'd been more forgiving of this if the price was more reasonable. We checked out after 3 days (our original booking) and moved to the far cheaper, charming and quiet beach bungalows/huts next door (with the same facilities).
