Stayed here for a week and the staff did all they could to make our stay incredible. Bungalow is huge and beautiful. Good range of food and drinks. Hotel on the beach with gorgeous views. A lovely stay.
I have planned a 10 days trip throughout Malaysia in January 2020. Although some bad weather was kind of expected due to the rain season in SE Asia, I just couldn't settle and see myself stranded and frustrated inside hotel rooms. So that's when I had the idea to escape the monsoon blues and bought a ticket to Langkawi in northwestern coast of Malaysia and from there took the scary but safe ferry into Ko Lipe. And it saved my entire trip not just for being one the less visited islands in the awfully crowded Thailand, but maybe one of the last gems with such very clean beaches, good hospitality and somehow, visited by a more select public with greater awareness of preservation and sustainability.Last but not the least, my experience at Mali Sunrise was great, specially for having my toes in the sand all of the time. Maybe a lit bit overpriced compared to other options but it was worth enough to make my stay perfect afterall.…
Our family stayed here for 5 nights and we had a wonderful experience. When we go back to Koh Lipe, this will be the only resort we will want to stay at. The highlight was the big, well-designed bungalow that easily fit 2 adults and 2 kids. The pool was fantastic - well-designed, clean, and brilliantly colored with blue tiles, green trees and plants, and sand-colored decking. Good colors are important to us. :) The staff were all friendly and spoke English well enough. The beach is not the best for relaxing and playing in, mainly because of all the longtail boats that perch there. On the other hand, it's handy to hop on a boat and explore other islands, such as Koh Adang just to the north. We enjoyed the a la carte breakfast, and the view from there. A few areas for improvement could be: wifi signal was highly location-dependent inside the room and could be strengthened overall; the water pressure and temperature of the shower had some control issues; mosquitos - not sure how to solve that, but fortunately it wasn't that bad. All in all, this is one of my favorite small resorts in Thailand, and I would absolutely recommend anyone to stay here, without hesitation.…
I had booked 3 nights there and 3 nights at another resort considered the « best resort » of the island. Mali despite being more affordable was a great option to me for my family conaidering there was a central pool at the resort instead of just a pool at our villa. We live year long in luxury villas with private pools ... but I wanted my 5 years old son to be more mixed with others; therefore I chose the first half of the week to be there. Arrival and check-in was fine; to the level of an island and the staff polite and professional enough. Yet, despite to “warnings” ahead, the only outlet of the resort, the beach bar, closed each day at 17h00 and even before felt like they are already close. Finally, even when opening the bed at our villa before going to sleep, we just saw in the bed stains and 2 lo g very obvious hairs. Bottom line is that low season + covid-19 time don’t justify to close all options to eat or do something when there is nothing else around, when it is not told on any websites and when anyway it claims being a 4 stars. If you operate a resort, even “efficiently”, there is a limit.... open or close simply. Straight next morning we checked out and ask politely if they would accept to refund us the two nights not used as it was paid ahead and technically a “non-refundable “ rate. They were very sincere in their behaviour which I could feel but they had to validate with their owner or manager. Unfortunately they did not call or e-mail me to let me know, I had to about 4 days later but they sid regund me the two nights not taken. So for this, I do appreciate it very much. Overall, you can feel nice staffs, but I believe largely not trained or well supervised.... We stayed two more nights at the other resort that I had booked which was at least twice the rate per night, but definitely worth it. Cannot miss it, it is the most expensive on the island. Again, great staff, I think just left to themselves. All the best to you for the future. …
The staff were friendly and helpful. Good location. Nice welcome drink. The drinks are good. Wifi not working. Have many mosqito in room. Never though a cancelled trip will lead to another wonderful trip.(covid19) We will be back.
