We were travelling back from London to Lincoln and drove into Buckden for Sunday lunch. The Lion was the first place we parked near to so decided to give it a try. We nearly gave it a miss as the smashed kitchen windows did not give a good first impression. We were greeted by young waiting staff who were friendly...

We stayed here at the end of December for one night. We managed to get a family room and our two daughters slept on the sofa bed , which was perfectly adequate for them. The room was a good size and we had plenty of space. The only thing I would comment on is that the room/ensuite we had looked...

We spent New Years Eve at The Lion - and it turned out to be a memorable evening - for all the right reasons. There was a brilliant party atmosphere - promoted by the excellent staff who couldn't do enough to make everyone feel special. The food was delicious - mini portions of hot and cold savoury and sweet food...

Thank you so much for such a wonderful review, which I have passed on to all the staff. We are delighted that you had a good time New Years Eve at The Lion, I must admit that we were all a little anxious with the new format this year, including a decision to erect a marquee, so really do appreciate...

The Lion changed hands early in 2016 and it has changed almost out of recognition (it was built in the 1400s so we want it to look similar). There is a new bar which is much more conveniently situated and the food is better. We are one Friday evening and the meal was excelleny, the portions were very large indeed,...

It was decorated for Christmas beautifully. Very tasteful. Shop windows opposite looked good too. Just needed some snow for the full effect. After a lovely meal sitting with friends on leather settees around the open fire was wonderful. Very enjoyable stay.

Only one chair in a twin room to watch the television. Dinner: Salmon overcooked and dry. Beef stew too salty to eat. Bar: they only had enough Gordon's Gin for one single measure when after that experience my wife needed a double!! I tried to send my comments to the manager as requested by Trip Advisor but for some reason...

The bar and restaurant were really busy when we arrived, great atmosphere. We checked in, rooms are dated, but clean, comfortable and best of all, quiet, as they were set away from the main building. We have a lovely meal in the bar. Breakfast next day was quick and really nice. Will definitely stay again.
