In general I agree with the review of 26th May 2016, including the pain of going up 2 floors by stairs! We were on a small (4 people) organised walking tour so cannot comment much on personal interactions or price. However, the room was large, the bath brilliant after a day's walking (the bathroom was good in general) and the...

We stayed here while hiking in the Picos de Europa. The rooms were fairly simple and it was a bummer to carry luggage up a flight of stairs because the elevator didn't work. Rooms were clean. The dinner however was amazing. We had a man in his mid-20s serve us scrambled eggs and mushrooms, a cream of zucchini soup, white...

Travelling out of season we had booked a room at the Cumbres de Valdeon along the road, beacause it claimed to offer half board. I had phoned to confirm a booking for a single room in September and immediately got a good impression. I am an ex-pat living in the South and was traveling north by coach. The Pension was easy to locate as the last bus stop on my journey was outside the establishment. I was greeted with warm by the owners. I...

We've stayed here three times in about 15 years and every time have felt completely at home. I spend a lot of time traveling on business and usually end up in faceless hotels that you can't tell which continent you in. Consequently I adore places like la Begonia. Fantastic food, friendly service and stunning value for money. not for you...

We stayed in the Casa Campo hotel, next door to - and allied with - Casa Begona. The CB restaurant was good: the boss worked fast, but had time to tolerate my broken Spanish before delivering excellent locally-sourced food. The restaurant was busy - always a good sign - but we still felt we got personal attention. The CC hotel...

There are not many options in Posada de Valdeon (I tried the Hotel Cumbres based on Tripadvisor reviews but was completely unable to make contact either online or in writing) & La Begona seems to be one of the few which is open for longer than a brief season. It is very popular with cyclists & many groups passed through...
