The Trout Inn at Tadpole Bridge has for many years (20 in point of fact) been a long-time local; favourite hostellerie and eaterie. Sitting the other side of the Thames from Bampton, it commands a fine riverside setting. A massive beer garden - packed in summer - sits on the banks just one side of the bridge. Occupy a bench...

Have known this pub for years. Changed management last year from being independently owned to being bought by a chain (although the chain does its best to keep that quiet as a look on the pub's website will tell you!). We've been back many times since the change but we are really sad that every time we have given it...

Fabulous location next to the river. Great on sunny days. Nothing else within walking distance however. Nearest village is a car ride. Accommodation was reasonable but not stunning. No shower in my room.. room 6.. just a bath in centre of room. Not very private if your sharing with the kids! And it is supposedly a family room! Food was...

There was ample parking; great indoor space with cosy atmosphere. Sitting outside on the terrace by the river, watching the boaters, and admiring the ducks, swans and peacocks, was magic! Add to that a Fanny Berry cider and you are in heaven.

Despite reading bad reviews at the top of the listening I still booked this pub for Sunday lunch with my family. On entering the pub I was so impressed but with no welcome at all. We ewere then shown to our table by a very pleasant young girl who looked after us most of the tome. The other staff that...

I'm not one to write a bad or flippant review and generally will give a place a second chance before doing so to qualify my first experience. My first trip was lunch with friends we felt ignored throughout and two other tables had a much worse experience with no menus, delayed and disconnected plates at the same table, and drinks...

We have know the Trout for many years and been through many owners.in recent times it has had a reputation of excellence .therefore for a special night out for my wife and I we booked at the Trout. We were welcomed by a boisterous young man adorned with studs- never my favourite. My wife' s glass of champagne we served...

Stayed for two nights here for my birthday, sadly, although the room was pleasant it was right next to the kitchen so was VERY noisy, with banging and crashing and a particularly loud extractor fan running from about 4 pm until midnight. Then about 6am the banging and extractor resumed as breakfast was prepared. Not a restful stay for us,...

4 members of staff chatting behind the bar and eventually one condescends to serve you. The delay does give you a chance to save up for the drinks. I have been to this pub a several times over the years and decided to take a friend from Bampton out for a drink. Looking at the reviews it seems the pub...

Reading the many reviews on this potentially good pub restaurant, it screams for a god manager. The food is good. Not Michelin, but very acceptable. But the organisation of front of shop, taking orders and delivering great service is simply dreadful. The recruitment of good staff is where it starts. Having testosterone fuelled barmen who think they are in a...
