Note we only ate here, we did not stay. However, we are very glad we did eat here, as it was by far the best food we had in the area, more than worth the 35-40 minute drive from where we were staying near La Fortuna. Highlights were the mushrooms and the tuna salad, but it was all delicious. Be...

We stayed here early March at the recommendation of Lake Arenal Brewery. We arrived in the evening and the house and arbor were colorfully lit up and so welcoming. The house and grounds are beautiful, rooms are decorated elaborately funky. The people are so friendly. We arrived too late to enjoy the famous dinners but we did have a generous...

We stayed the night at the Gingerbread hotel which is a quaint little bed and breakfast place. The rooms are not fancy but very clean and comfortable. The real highlight however is dinner. From the first appetizer to the last bite of dessert it was some of the tastiest food I've had in Costa Rica. This is a "must do"...

We had read alot about the Gingerbread and all the good comments were true. We stayed in the jungle room with a lovely balcony over looking the lake. Our friends were in the wine room which is a seperate cabin. Both were clean and unique. The staff were accomadating and hospitable. They had a bird feeder and we watched a great...

Chef Eyal and his team were amazing! We stayed for four nights and ate at the restaurant for two (would have been all four except we stayed on the nights the restaurant was closed too). THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC! Every dish presented just beautifully and the flavors....to die for. The bed was very comfortable and a great view of the...

Four in our party and we were blown away by the hospitality of Chef Ayal and the food was the best. We all agreed that it was the finest restaurant meal we have ever had, Chef Ayal finished it off for us with a taste of some terrific Tequila! We would highly recommend reserving a dinner stop and the next...

A definite must if you are in Arenal. Great drinks, magnificent food, and a beautiful place. But it all comes together with the owner, chef and host Eyal. What a host! Among the best places I have ever gone to anywhere in the world.... Keep it up Eyal and hope to see you again soon!

Unfortunately we did not make it to Gingerbread-we stayed tooo far away. I am hoping on the next trip we are able to plan it better, I had to cancel due to distance, now that I know the lay of the land will adjust time frame. Gingerbread was so polite when we cancelled really wanted to have dinner there. Thank...

My husband and I arrived to the Gingerbread Hotel after a VERY long day of traveling. We were greeted by the owner and the chef with free drinks. We checked into our room and it was wonderful. The wine décor was so nice, and we especially loved the outdoor shower. We spent the evening at the restaurant enjoying Chef Eyal's...

We were guests of Chef Eyal for two nights. He was welcoming, took the kids with some friends of his to paddle board on the lake after dropping us in town for a beer. He warned us that dinner was going to be good, and he derived two nights in a row. Truly amazing meals, and it felt like the...
