As part of quite a large group, we ordered various coffees, teas, soft drinks, cakes etc. May I respectfully suggest that the waitress perhaps writes everything down next time, thereby avoiding the constant 'how many coffees again?', 'was it five teas or three?' conversations. Also....one teabag in a large pot of tea? Ridiculous. Although this place is slightly less scruffy...

Thank you for your review. It seems that the service is not up to scratch on the day you visited. Your opinion is valued but is at odds with the majority of our guests and you can see these for yourself on our website. Having taken over this place in 2014 it has required a lot of time and effort...

We stopped here on our way home from a few days in Edinburgh . We arrived just after 3 and they had actually stopped serving food but the chef agreed to do a meal for the four of us. Food was excellent. Lovely cosy old fashioned pub. Friendly service. Highly recommend a visit.

A group of friends stayed the night before a shoot; we needed somewhere simple, friendly, local, warm and clean with good local food and the Allan Ramsay ticked all of the boxes. The rooms were warm and clean, with a good welcome and a buzzy atmosphere. Service was very good and we were given a private area in case we...

We booked this as an ideal stop on the way to Edinburgh so we could get an early start next morning; it was fantastic and we will be booking again. Rooms are great and very clean, staff are really friendly and helpful; the inn itself is really cosey and has a good vibe about it. On top of that the...

A gem of a place. Warm log fires, clean and comfortable bedrooms, excellent food and drink, great service from friendly and knowledgeable staff. I felt extremely welcomed and superbly looked after during my three night stay. Great walks nearby, especially over the Roman Road to West Linton. Cosy hotel, delicious food, fascinating exhibition about Allan Ramsay inside and highly recommended.

As soon as I arrived I had a happy feeling about this hotel. I got a very warm welcome and I was immediately charmed by the place. My room was comfortable and characterful and very tranquil. I had a great dinner - really excellent home cooking and a great real ale made it a perfect evening after a day's biking....

The Allan Ramsay seems to have changed hands a few times in recent years. Was once a great 'gastro pub' before the term was created then seemed to go downhill. So called in to try it out again. Glad we did. Really super game pie. Lovely staff and dog friendly too. Really looking forward to the Allan Ramsay Festival that...
