Arrived with no expectations, and for £50 a night for a twin room rightly so! On arrival we were greeted by Jemma who was very welcoming indeed!

Our room was warm & comfortable, what more can you ask for!?

Short walk to local pubs for food and ideal for exploring some of the surrounding countryside.

If it’s low budget and no frills accommodation you are after, look no further.

Good affordable accommodation , and helpful friendly staff. Close amenities and handy for the brecon beacons for walking and hiking. Wood burner in main seating area, and has a relaxing atmosphere about the place. Definitely worth a visit.

Me and my partner took a spontaneous trip yesterday and decided on wales as we have never been. We were pretty strapped for cash so we thought camping would be cheap and cheerful and hopefully we would find somewhere we could pitch a tent but the weather had other ideas…
After hours or searching booking.com we found “haven of the trees” at £50 a double room I went ahead and booked. Not reading any reviews we didn’t have a clue what it would be like.
I won’t lie, when we arrived I thought it was pretty spooky, lots and lots of land all around and very old building almost like an American ranch or something. We called the mobile number provided online when we arrived as we had no clue if the was reception.. a lovely, welcoming Gemma answered the phone and told us where we would find our key. After wondering around for a while we eventually found our room. The room itself was a very bog standard room with a double bed, single bed and a little dresser with tea, coffee, sugar and a kettle. The beds were extremely comfortable and clean and tidy but the only downfall was no TV but for a cheap £50 stay I settled for listening to my partner snore all night. We had a room with an ensuit so no sharing shower room with randomers (thank god) make sure you take your own shower gels etc because only provide a bar of soap.

All in all it was a nice stay but look out for the freaky old fashioned pictures/portraits (I’m sure they blink) 😂😂 but that’s what you get for a “spiritual retreat”

Awful experience, we had prebooked to stay for 3 nights. On arrival we were told the shower wouldn't be working in our room and they'd try to fix it and that the towels weren't ready as they had cleaned them. They showed us communal showers that we could use instead, and apologized for the state of them, the men's one was horrendous, pee on the floor. We went into our room and there was sewage all over the shower, the room smelt awful. We decided it was not livable and left (had to book somewhere else last minute) and Haven of Trees have not given us a refund. PLEASE DO NOT STAY book yo stay here, you will waste your money.

The only positive thing I have to say is the mattress was quite comfortable and the location is good for hikers.
Otherwise, the place is a living nightmare, looks like something out of a horror movie. It’s run down and dirty.
On arrival we were greeted by 2 guys, who seemed to be off their rocker. We were allocated a room that would have been ok for the price however the sheets were dirty with hairs and there was bottle caps and mud all over the floor where it hadn’t been cleaned from the previous guests.
The first night we spent here, I was woken up 5+ times to someone next door who I believe to have been staff, shouting all night, wretching and coughing. The next morning I asked to move room and was told it was fully booked. The guy was apologetic however I can’t believe this as there are a lot of rooms and I didn’t see any other guests there over the weekend.
The toilets and showers are dirty, no soap toilet roll or towels offered. Toilet roll and rubbish all over the floors. Never seen anyone cleaning.
The coffee shop down the road were in agreement of how bad the property was and said they don’t understand how it’s still running.
I’m used to staying in low star properties but this was awful. I also never review properties but felt I had to, to warn people.

This was our third visit. Our second visit was in May when it had a temporary caretaker Pete who did his upmost to make our stay as comfortable as possible, As the place had been left run down .And the manager had decided to go off on holiday. We visited again this month to see how things were improving, The place is now under new management with Matt and Pete working together. It has 100 per cent improved, our bedroom / bathroom was clean / tidy and warm , the grounds were clear of all the rubbish, And both Matt and Pete made us feel very welcome. We ended up staying 3 nights , and will definitely stay there again . Matt also made sure we were happy before taking any money for our room . This is a little Gem of a place if you like the peace and quiet .

Dirty beds, No hot water, no soap, litter in room and mouldy teabags! And got hit in the head by a falling ‘gun’ ornament as I closed the door 🤦🏻‍♂️

In time, it could be great. But until that time, there’s far better accommodation locally!
Paid c. £200 for two nights, left after one.

Staff seemed nice folks though.

We didn't expect much for £50 for a double en suite, but the bed was clean and comfy which is all that was required. Matt was absolute star!! He's just taken over the management and he's working very hard to turn this place around and fulfil it's potential. He was very welcoming and we'll be going back next year to see how he's got on.

We arrived at haven of trees and Matt and Pete the new managers couldn’t have been anymore welcoming. The room was lovely and they made the stay so pleasant. It’s always very clean and the rooms are lovely with a great competitive price for the stay. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to be. When returning back to wales I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to stay and will always go back there! I’m looking forward to the next visit. Thanks Matt and Pete!

On arrival Matt made us aware he was the New manager. And both Matt and Pete made us very welcome. Our Room was clean and tidy ,Matt asked us if we were happy with the room , and he couldn't of been more helpful. Matt even found us a small fridge for our room . We are looking forward to staying again over the Christmas period.
