Detailed Reviews
When arriving at the hotel the full experience already starts! The building itself looks amazing, very warm welcome from the host and the room (Waterpret) itself was absolutely wonderful. Great shower, bathtub and sauna - very fast warm and continuous water. Fantastic view from the room at garden and front pond and the bed was very comfortable. All staff were really friendly and welcoming - host, restaurant personal, and breakfast lady. Best breakfast we ever had at a hotel, all regional and very fresh products - but too expensive. The location itself was easy to find, free parking and nearby the high way to easily visit surrounding towns and villages.

Four star hotel in a restored boarding school, quite near to Doetichem’s center (although Doetichem is not much of a town, not like Zutphen) and near some great hiking routes. The older building is quite appealing with modern furniture and details, with an artsy but cosy feeling. Rooms are large and very nicely decorated (although the difference between the regular “Lifestyle” and more expensive “ Romantic” eludes me) with nice color schemes and details. Room was clean and well maintained and the beds have soft, quality mattresses. Mind you, the hotel is modern and fresh but the building itself is older, so the rooms are not sound proof (wooden floors).
Nice touch was the set dinner table in the room; dinner itself is easily ordered online with a QR code. Breakfast is also brought to the room (to the door, that is) and can be ordered from a menu.
Staff is very welcoming, friendly and efficient and the hotel has a very relaxed and positive atmosphere.
The devil is in the details, however. The room, for instance, has no iron and no fridge or coffee/tea facilities; I would have thought these were standard in a four star hotel. Next to this, there were next to no toiletries, the soap dispenser in the shower was empty and part of the complicated lighting system didn’t work. Also, the kitchen isn’t that great. My pretty expensive hamburger for dinner was small and incredibly soggy and the eggs and bacon for breakfast were close to charred.

Last week we staed one night at this lovely place. We booked a full board arrangement . This was € 198,-- including a great room ( nr 104, in the front with great balcony), aaaawelcome drink, 4-course dinner plus surprising wine arrangement, and breakfast. We were so pleased that we even got two amuses and that the whole dinner was of great quality. Although fixed, it is three forks worth in Michelin guide instead of two. Service was extreme friendly and helpful. Only the breakfast, at our own balcony was rather poor and not in realy in balance with the dinner. But still we would strongly advice to stay there now and in the future. A lot of value for your mony. Compare with others, they will win at once!

The building is lovely with a very lovely dining area including a great terrace. The room was a bit below standard, not well ventilated, noisy and very non practical light switches. Most annoying was the fact that there is no water cooker of coffee machine in the bedroom. If you want some tea you have to order it at a cost of 3 euro. The staff are very friendly though, albeit some were very inexperienced. The kitchen is great!!

The room is not clean. The spots are on the bathroom wall. The carpet is not vacuum cleaned. The coffee machine has a thick layer of dust and the coffee pad from the previous tenant is still in. The window glass is broken and has cracks on it. The lamp should be cleaned and fixed … the list can go on and on. The stay was in the room #203.
The first day the breakfast was great! The second day (Sunday) there was nobody to regulate the traffic and make sure there was enough supply of food around. People are confused and lacking any attention from the personnel.
It is really pity that 4 stars are given for the extra facilities, but nobody checks the quality of those. Although, with all due respect, the dinner at the restaurant was amazing experience!

The name of this sprawling villa translates loosely as broad (or generous) view. The view is not really broad as the hotel, though set in a parklike environment, is close to a fairly busy road (no noise problems in room), but their view of hospitality is very generous indeed. What an incredible staff! Every single one of them made us feel truly welcome. Special shoutout to the restaurant staff who were extremely knowledgeable of the amazing food and drink they served. Husband who celebrated his birthday here got VIP treatment. Breakfast, too, was very memorable with local products. The homemade butter is sinfully good. Had to restrain myself... Perfect getaway if you prefer an old villa with modern cons over a cookie cutter chain hotel.

I stayed one night in Villa Ruimzicht in the end of April 2021. The staff is friendly and helpful but it seemed to me that they were a bit unexperienced. When I first arrived to Villa Ruimzicht, I did the check-in in the hotel reception and was welcomed by a friendly lady. I did, however, not receive much information (e.g. how wifi works, etc) apart from where my room is. I was handed a breakfast menu that I could fill in and leave on the door the same evening. The menu was only in dutch and the reception lady did not bother to explain it to me in English. Due to covid the hotel restaurant was not open for dine-in but I was told I can order to my room via a qr code in the room. Once I got to my room, I tried to find a pen to fill in the breakfast menu, could not find one. I had a look at the dinner menu via the qr code only to find out that it is only available in dutch. I went back down to the reception, got a pen and filled in the breakfast menu. I asked the receptionist if she could give me some recommendations regarding the menu as it's all in Dutch. She told me she needs to ask her colleague in the kitchen. She returned to to me from the kitchen and told that the chef has no recommendations (?!?!??!). I thanked and went back to my room. Tried ordering but the online system required payment to be made and only suggested certain Dutch payment services which I did not have access to. I went one again back to the reception and the receptionist kindly took my order. Once my food arrived, it was not what I had ordered. I needed to send it back. I finally got my food and the food was delicious!
The experience was definitely what I was expecting and hoped for more. I unfortunately felt that the staff, although, nice had no clue what they were doing and were completely lost. I hope other guests will receive a better experience as the building and surroundings are beautiful and the place would have potential.

Very nice hotel with lovely staff. We visited in the middle of the lockdown. They put a table with nice chairs in our hotel room (the room is big enough) and served us a six course meal with matching wines in our room. The food was excellent! The room we stayed in was also recently renovated. We had an excellent stay, Thank you staff of hotel Ruimzicht!

The staff for servicing is great. Diner was phantastic but the hotel and the rooms did not meet expectations. With a group of 9 people, 3 were not able to take a shower the first day. Made remark at the desk but only noticed and no action.
For one night it is fine but with hardly possibilities to unpack and store your clothes properly the rooms are not suitable for a longer stay. The shower cabin could not be opened and the fancy multi purpose shower was im possible to operate without the missing guidance. The bed was fine. Due to the servicing staf, the overall rating came to 3 bullets otherwise .........

I had an amazing time at Villa Ruimzicht.
The room I received was incredibly welcoming and well prepared for when I arrived. It brimmed with openness due to its size and the towering windows along the wall lit up the entire interior with natural light while simultaneously providing a lovely view of the hotel garden and the street ahead. I found all my needs accommodated for, but even if I did need anything, the hotel staff was always ready to lend a hand to ensure my satisfaction.
Another quality of the hotel that enhanced my stay is its location; the 'main' city is only a stone-toss away. I could very easily get to the center without breaking a sweat, needing not to rely on a bus or a bike, although there is a bus stop very close to the hotel and the latter is generously provided by the hotel for a small fee.
However, this is the unfortunate part where I must raise some concerns I've encountered.
Speaking from my experience, I could clearly hear anything that went on upstairs in the room directly above mine. This has led to multiple awkward moments between me and my partner as whoever stayed upstairs decided to use their bed as trampoline, several times, throughout the entire day (and part of the night, too). Because of this revelation I felt worried about being noisy. On the second day of my stay I was anxious not to laugh too loud (I must admit, I did laugh loudly that evening) out of consideration for the other guests and staff.
The second issue that left me slightly dismayed was the fact that the shower door in my bathroom was very difficult to close. While the primary allure of the room I chose was the luxurious red bathtub, sometimes you feel like opting out for a quick shower instead. I quickly found out that due to a very unusual choice of door handles I was unable to properly seal the entrance to the cabin leading to a lot of water spilling on the floor and posing a slipping hazard.
Thankfully, nothing has happened to me or my partner during our stay, but I pray that this is looked into and reviewed to ensure a safe environment.
All in all, I had a very lovely stay indeed. The negatives I highlighted above do not, in any capacity, overshadow the positives at the beginning. In fact, I'm planning on booking another stay again later this very year (2024 as of writing this review) for longer - this should demonstrate how satisfied I was with my visit to Villa Ruimzicht.
I hope whoever reads this review finds informative and insightful while I thank you for staying till the very end.
