We visited in January but despite the cold we found the hotel warm and inviting. As with other Old English Inns the room was fairly basic but it was clean and good value for money. Ana and her staff could not have been more helpful. The stairs up to the second floor are pretty steep and not really suitable for...

I feel bad giving this 3 stars as for the price we paid ( £40) per night it was fantastic value for money which included a really nice breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable enough. Quite noisy with creaks above from upstairs rooms and people up and down the stairs but you are staying in a pub ultimately so...

Made a last minute booking at The Anchor where we are relatively "frequent flyers". Table for 2 of us a 6-00pm, and Manager did kindly mention possible food service delays, due to a large party booking at 5-00pm. The Anchor was packed ~ which was perfectly understandable, due to the date/occasion but the profanities/loud bad language coming from the bar...

It was bad! Booked a table for 12.45 - main course arrived 2 hours later - two of the dishes were inedible, miserable service. My fish and chips were ok but the tartar sauce was watery and extremely sweet, the mush peas were fine though it was a very small potion. I had to share my meal otherwise some of...

After an hour and a half wait we were served awful food. The best of which was a poor version of Weatherspoons. Many of the dishes were inedible. Risotto was served so overcooked you couldn't see individual grains of rice. It was more like tasteless porridge. Peppercorn sauce to accompany (an overcooked steak) was gravy with some ground pepper. These...

A lovely hotel in a superb location with good food and accommodation, of special note were the very friendly and attentive staff (Ana & Tsveto); an absolute credit to Greene King, nothing was too much trouble from arrival to departure. Thoroughly recommend the Anchor Inn at Beer.

Had evening meal here twice during our 5 night self catering stay in delightful Beer. Comparatively quiet. A very wide ranging menu and equally varied prices. Service was prompt and food delicious. very dog friendly and a special mention to Bulgarian waiter ( Dsvetomir spelling?) who was charming efficient.

Took a short notice 3 night break in November. Had been to Beer before, and eaten in the Anchor Inn in high summer, but not out of season. We were well looked after, and the accommodation virtually fully booked which is a good sign in November. Only 6 bedrooms, 3 on first floor and 3 on second floor, all with...

We had a 2 night stay here, staying in a very comfortable en suite room with a gorgeous view of the beach and sea. Very well priced, nicely positioned and reasonably quiet. The dray arrived on Friday morning as expected at 7.30am, so no sleeping in!!! Breakfast was good, the room was clean and the linen was better than expected....

Stayed for 2 nights in a superior room (4) with a good view of the sea. The room was clean but the air freshener used was overpowering. We ate in the restaurant on the first night, the food is standard Old English Inns fare good value for money, pleasantly severed and piping hot. The bar has 3 real ales Otter,...
