3rd stop out of 4 on a family adventure safari in Africa and our children's favorite. Magical in many ways. Highly recommend.

Of all our African experiences, this has to be the one that offers the most authentic, sensual and culturally stimulating experience ever. The land, the people, the colours, the smells, the rituals, the food and of course the pure luxury of the camp made our time there unforgettable. Truly a privelege to have experienced this. You don't feel as though...

I was drawn to Lemarti's Camp to meet the renowned Lemarti and Boniface. These two amazing hosts, dressed in their traditional red (and somedays pink) attire, adorned with amazing beadwork lead you on an incredible journey. From guided walks along the river bank to a stunning sundowner over looking Northern Kenya, this safari leads you to reconnecting with your spirit!...

Who would have imagined that you could experience luxury without any power or running water in the shadow of Mount Kenya. Anna, Lemarti and Bonnie have carefully crafted a truly amazing camp that provides an experience second to none. Nestled on a sleepy river in the deep outback under the shade of a massive and ancient fig tree, the camp...

Lemarti's Camp is such a special gem. It's located in the Laikipia Plateau within the Rift Valley -- cradle of civilization -- which is beautiful in a way that is distinct from the Mara (more arid yet still populated with verdant oasis throughout). It's also less touristy and more remote, making it feel very singular. When you see wildlife, they...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rites of Passage is a unique safari in the original sense of the Swahili word derived from the Arabic ‘safara’ for journey. It is a magical voyage of discovery into the Great North of Kenya, one of the last frontiers of virgin wilderness. It is also an unforgettable encounter with its enigmatic people, whose way of life and peaceful coexistence with nature has changed little over time. To walk for awhile beside proud nomads in their environment is to be reminded of the harsh beauty of untamed Africa and the simplicity of life in absolute terms – a truly magical experience. Many safaris remove the traveler from the essence of the bush. Rites of Passage takes an entirely different approach, offering you experience unparalleled in East Africa today. Lemarti’s Camp - nestled in an oasis - is run by Samburu and Maasai tribesmen. Luxury, by our definition, lies in offering an authentic experience; superbly talented guides specialized in local knowledge, delicious food and the simple elegance of the camp’s aesthetics created by Anna. Any journey with Rites of Passage begins at Lemarti's Camp. This is the heart and soul of Rites of Passage. ... more   less

“If you have a family of 4 or more they have a family tent that can accommodate all of you. I would suggest the farthest tents on either end from the "mess" for the quietest and most private experience.”
