We had a spacious bungalow which overlooked the mountains from tree height which made bird watching a treat. Shower needed to be timed as there was a small water tank which had enough for one shower. The surrounding tea plantations and mountain backdrop were beautiful and the Windermere Estate itself was redolent of the 1950s. There is a separate building...

Run like a homestay ie no menu (but food is excellent - no alcohol served) this is in a beautiful loction and you are treated like guests, rather than clients, Very comfortable rooms. Guided walks availble aroud the estate. So peaceful I didnt want to leave.

This wonderful tea plantation takes you back in time. Beautiful location, spacious room overlooking the tea plantation and wonderful hospitality - I just wish we had planned more time there. The ambiance is a break from the present back to a time when people had a more leisure lifestyle.

superb location, but....... Set in a superb location, with panoramic views, we had a plantation room one class above cottage rooms and one class below plantation villas. The staff were very friendly and obliging and the infinity swimming pool, recently installed, was first class. The room was spacious, clean, and airy with fabulous views of the valley and mountain range. However...

Corrugated iron roofed bungalows set in a wooded estate with amazing views over the tea plantations make Windemere Estate a positive delight. Accommodation in the bungalow was huge, would easily accommodate a family of 4. A large balcony with cane chairs looked out over the valley and tea plantations below. We eventually saw the full expanse of the view on...

Windermere was a bit of an enigma. The views from the room was pretty special and while the room had everything you needed it was a bit old fashioned. The service was friendly and the host was very friendly and attentive. The dining area was rather oddly like a Swiss chalet and the food was a set menu which even...

What a wonderful place to stay. My goodness the service and ambience could not be faulted. Rooms excellent spacious and clean and absolute luxury. The owner has a policy to meet and farewell all guests. Even leaving at 4.30am she got up and farewelled us goodbye. Helpful with tours and any little question. Food was really good and plentiful. Could...

This home stay is in a great location on a hillside with extensive views over the valley containing tea and cardamom plantations. It is also only 7 km from the centre of Munnar, a bustling town which we visited to see the market, buy tea ( cheaper here than in Cochin apparently) and eat. We stayed in a large tastefully...

Pros: The view. We stayed in the planters villa and to see the sunrise from our bed and to have breakfast on our terrace in full warm sunshine was magical. The organised walk through the cardamon plantation was interesting. Cons: No wifi except in a room above reception. The food is pedestrian. The decor: you could be anywhere in the...

Fantastic retreat from the bustle of India. Super friendly staff, and plenty of onsite amenities for a restful relaxing vacation in the mountains. Great food at the restaurant and amazing views of the tea and cardamom plantation grounds.
